Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar

This is one of only a few true coffee houses in town. Bring your laptop, games, books and friends and stay for hours. They have an amazing selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free snacks that even meat eaters like!

Once a lively spot for hipsters and non-​hipsters alike, this place has seen a decline in patrons, business hours and sales. The barter system that was once used as an alternate means of paying for goods has been discarded, so unless you have cash or charge, you’re not getting served. Wi-​fi is free of charge, but the décor is outdated. They do have board games for playing but many of the pieces are missing, making play impossible. It is a free public setting, so you get what you pay for. Sometimes they have poetry reading or other artists stopping in, but these events do not last long enough to enjoy. I guess this isn’t a bad place to hang out at, but the years have not been kind. Let’s hope the people running the establishment can put more care into the business to revitalize its old glory.

Coffee is OK. Place is s bit disorganized and not clean. Service is bad and parking is big but is always full of cars that are not clients. So good luck finding a spot to park.
My last experience had all that and by the way they treated me I chose to go to another coffee stop. Way much cleaner, with better service and plenty of parking.

I enjoyed this little coffee shop so much. A friend and I both got soups. I got the wild mushroom and he got the jalapeño cheese-​so yummy and rich! I also got a raspberry mocha latte and he got the iced Mojo Jojo. We sat on a couch and lounged and enjoyed our chat. Will definitely be going back!

I come here often, but only for the coffee. As some of the other reviewers have said, the girls who work here (with the exception of one and even then she’s barely nice lol) seem to have an attitude… maybe try to shed that emo shell a bit and smile, it’s just coffee. Anyway, the coffee is still fire… never tried the food for fear of annoying the drive through gals for taking too long to decide.

This little quirky place can get crowded sometime, popular place so it’s understandable, just practice your parallel street parking, and you will be good to go!
Everything looks good there, don’t be afraid to try! I love these gluten free/​vegan baked goods, especially pair with a cup of coffee or tea, life is good! :)

I’m a big coffee fan! When I travel, my first activity is picking my coffee places. Thus, visiting Orlando I looked up the most recommended coffee places and this one made the list. Reading all the excellent ratings on Unilocal,I was prepared to be thrilled. But, unfortunately, I was merely satisfied. Nothing above the ordinary, but a good cup of coffee. I was impressed by the selection of gluten-​free and vegan options but wish there had been more gluten-​free options that weren’t also vegan. I tried a chia quinoa blueberry bar that I didn’t even finish. It was too sweet and so crumbly and sticky that it was hard to eat. It’s a good place to get coffee but not exceptional and definitely should not be near the top of the Orlando coffee lists! Downtown Credo and Lineage are far superior.

If you love coffee and love visiting the touristy part of Orlando, you’ve probably already realized there’s nothing to offer besides Starbucks and Dunkin.
That being said, my wife and I drove almost a half hour out of our way twice during our recent trip just to stop at Drunken Monkey and it was 100% worth it. Amazing coffee and a great overall vibe — what more could you want?
Their lattes are incredible, especially the marshmallow latte — it’s highly recommended!

Poor service, the girls that work there come off so rude and mean like they hate their job.
They were annoyed when I was trying to decide what to get, they truly made me feel very bad.
I had a relative pass away 10 mins before and just wanted a nice cup of coffee which was ok, but I would never ever go back.
They need to realize that everyone is battling their own battles and a simple smile goes a long way.
Bless them.

Atmosphere: homey, quaint, spacious, comfy, light music.
Food: great wraps and are pre made and kept in the display cooler. Vegetarian and meat options. Coffee? Pretty yummy– get their mojo jojo! Coffee and condensed milk. Brilliant.
Service: guy who helped me was a little stuck up, he almost seemed annoyed by the fact it was my first time there and me asking a few questions about some of the sandwiches. That is one of my pet peeves, lost one star for that.
Overall: they’ve got free wifi, good drinks (though a bit overpriced), and a quiet atmosphere. Good for working on homework/​computer. Give it a try! And only if you plan on getting their coffee.

Another hot spot for you local coffee snobs. Drunken Monkey is unique, eclectic and totally hipster vibing. They carry a great selection of coffee beverages and vegan/​vegetarian noms plus other delectable things like kombucha.
Drunken Monkey is located pretty close to Downtown, making it a great option for your morning coffee fix on the way into the office (it’s a frequent weekday morning stop for me). They serve great quality coffee and have the almond milk option, plus a wide assortment of syrup flavors, including sugar-​free and dairy-​free.
This place definitely isn’t for everyone. But for the younger crowd looking to try something new, or those just looking for great coffee, I recommend giving it a try.

I have driven by this place many times and haven’t really paid attention to it before, but I wanted a local coffee shop that I feel like I can just hang out in. This is my place. The coffee is good and there are a handful of tables to sit at as well as a couple of couches. When its cool, its nice to site outside. I can get a latte and set myself up at a table and be set for the night. The great thing is that this place opens until 10pm during the week and 11pm on the weekend. Many of the other coffee shops I have looked up closed around 6pm.
One thing I haven’t done, yet is to try the food. I have seen others order food and it looks pretty good.
On Friday and Saturday nights, they have an open mic night, which is always great to have a nice laugh to end your night. The Friday night I had went, it start at 8:30pm I would suggest coming a little early as the tables filled up fast. There was a good crowd standing on the side.

For me, this place is just alright. I will come here with others but it is not my favorite java joint. I haven’t had much luck finding coffee drinks that I like here. If I do come here, I usually purchase a drink from the little fridge over a freshly made drink. They have a good selection of kombuchas, including local brews.
They serve pre-​prepped food here, also, including some breakfast wraps and the like. I’m not an egg person so I usually go for the pastries/​baked goods cabinet. My main complaint here is that what is in the case can really vary. Which is great for freshness and variety, but not so great when you’re craving their vegan pumpkin muffin you recently had (and loved!). I went out of my way to stop here and they were no pumpkin muffins in site. Bummer! But I get it so I wasn’t mad.
The parking lot is small but you can park at Beefy King next door when it is closed. They do have a drive thru but I have not tried it.

Drunken Monkey is again one of those places I wish I would have checked out sooner.
My boyfriend and I (Greg N.) decided to spend a day at the Vegfest and wanted to get some coffee/​breakfast beforehand. After a quick Unilocal search, we discovered the Drunken Monkey was really close by and was the best place to go to. Him and I both get sick of drinking Starbucks and ultimately prefer going to local coffee shops.
Upon first walking in, I noticed the place was very casual with local event posters hanging on a bulletin board right by the door. When we walked up to the register to check out the menu the barista was nice, but in all honesty I felt she could have been a bit more helpful when clearly we were trying to figure out what to order. In any case, we decided on some drinks (my guy ordered and iced coffee red eye and I ordered an iced soy vanilla latte) and snacks (he ordered a blueberry lavender scone and a egg and cheese biscuit while I ordered a ginger pear scone).
The drinks were on point! I honestly could have drank another latte or two. However, the food was very hit or miss. My scone was very good and Greg said his scone was good too. The egg and cheese biscuit was another story. Since it was already made previously and just warmed up, it most likely affected the quality.
With my only complaint being some of the food options, I can definitely say that I would stop in for coffee again at the Drunken Monkey :)

Alright! Let the review train start again. I’ve missed Unilocaling so much!
So my girlfriend Amber M. and I decided to go to VegFest this year, and we started the day off by having a coffee and small snack here at Drunken Monkey! Having never been here, I was pleasantly greeted with a very home-​y like environment. Everyone there seemed to be on a first name basis, and was very inviting.
The menu was typical coffee shop, and the snacks all looked locally sourced and delicious. I went with my standard iced coffee red eye with H+H and raw sugar. Amber got a soy vanilla latte. Both drinks were executed perfectly with very fresh coffee. The «extras» were DIY, but I like that, because the Siren baristas usually end up adding too much cream anyway.
The snack department was decidedly two faced. Obviously any place that doesn’t make food in house is going to be harder to pull off quality, but I was not very happy with my egg and cheese biscuit. The blueberry lavender scone however was pretty good, and was a good pairing for my iced beverage. Amber got a ginger pear scone, which was also very good.
Overall I was happy with the staff and beverage. I feel like even though we were able to find seating, it does get busy in there, which can be hit or miss, depending on the time of day. The dining room was very comfortable and all the windows again lent to a very nice ambiance. With the only strike being the sandwich, I would say I absolutely come back for the drinks, and maybe just try a different snack. Definitely make your way there if you find yourself in the Milk District!

I wish I could say it was a great experience, but there were a few things that were wrong, therefore earning 1 star:
1) Very dirty behind the counter. I saw an employee drop lids on the floor and then put them right back up for use– yuck!
2) The employees were not friendly and rushed the people I front of me and myself through, creating an uncomfortable experience when I was e cited to try something new.
3) My drink was expensive, which is ok, but tasted terrible! I mean, something was actually wrong with this drink– chemically taste like cleaner was in it. I asked if they could remake it, the employee (different person) said, «you’ll have to pay for another one if you don’t like the one you have.» After explaining why I requested a remake, they said, «yeah, you’ll still need to pay.»
Just go to another shop– this really isn’t worth the drive-​time-​money. Not that great of an atmosphere either.

My husband and I visited Drunken Monkey for the first time last night. Open mic comedy night drew us in and we weren’t disappointment by the comedians, but we were a little bummed that this place doesn’t serve alcohol. We made an assumption from the name and were mistaken, but we did get to try Kombucha for the first time and it was great!
We’ll definitely be back!
Quick tip: make sure that you get there early on comedy night, seating is limited.

Great spot for coffee, sandwiches, WIFI for working remotely, and for people watching.
Not sure why they named it «Drunken Monkey», but as a coffee dive, it works well.
Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a great cup of coffee, or tea with a sandwich while you work away from the office, Drunken Monkey is the place to go.

I am actually sitting here writing this review after what just happened.
I came in and ordered a large Caramel Latte in one of the inside regular cups. The gentleman at the register told me he’d bring it to me. I went and washed my hands and sat down. A few minutes later the young lady working with him came out with a large to go cup saying «Mocha» and since I did not order a «Mocha» I assumed it was for someone else. She went back to the counter and the guy in the plaid shirt said «Maybe he does not speak «English» and came over with my «Mocha» which is not what I actually ordered. I never said a word and accepted it because I was already annoyed over the comment he already made. When he returned to the counter he said «He seemed confused when I approached him» to the young lady.
Maybe I would not have «seemed confused» if you had made what I requested the way I requested it! Additionally, if you are going to make comments about the customers… Making them loud enough for the customer to hear is not a very smart thing to do!
Just sayin!

I’m Cuban… so I have to ask myself… why have I never had coffee with condensed milk before arriving to the Drunken Monkey?! One of the mysteries of this universe. I will tell you this though… sweetened condensed milk in your coffee is pretty amazing.
The coffee was the reason we came — read the reviews and peeked at the photos on Unilocal and discovered the legendary Mojo Jojo. Coffee, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and cinnamon. I got a large — you should too. They come in mason jars (super cute according to the girls I was with).
They also have a ton of sandwiches. some great vegan choices — the wife was very happy with hers. I got a croissant with egg, bacon and cheese — it was great!
We came back on our last day to get a coffee for the road and some snacks. The macadamia cookies were delicious (and gone before we hit I4). Also got some cheese pastries. As mentioned above, I am Cuban so these lacked a little in comparison to the cheese pastries I usually have. BUT — did I mention they put condensed milk in the coffee?!
