As season ticket holders to the FAIRWINDS Broadway in Orlando, we have really been enjoying the second season. The sound is so much better than it was during the first season; we have our same seats; and, know where to go; and, when.
We still have a lot of folks sitting near us who are first timers; and, have been amazed at the folks talking and texting during the performance, showing up late; and, climbing over seats. The poor ushers don’t know what to do sometimes. we even saw two patrons almost «come to blows» over one of the kids standing on her seat (Dr. Phillips does provide booster seats).
But, all-​in-​all, it’s been much more pleasant. Parking is still a challenge; but, we have our «regular» parking spot, which I’m not going to share.
And, we rarely purchase refreshments, because the prices and the lines are just ridiculous. Download the app; and, you can get wi-​fi service; but, don’t text or take picture during the performance, they are very strict about that. saw one person’s phone taken away!

Only here for a brief stop it is wonderful to see so many starting to arrive bringing flowers, lighting candles and, keeping families loved ones, friends. In their good thoughts.
The weather is brutal must be about 105° with the humidity. However, that does not stop the passion and perseverance of human beings that care.
The Dr. Phillips Center is a magnificent majestic looking facility. Most definitely I will make it a priority to attend an event at this venue. Great Pics by other members of the Unilocal Community.

I love the DPCFPA. I’ve been here several times for various concerts. I’ve been in the smaller venue area and the larger one.
The good — easy to arrive and get your ticket scanned. Restrooms are plentiful. It’s always well air conditioned. It’s downright beautiful. Every seat in the disney theater is a good one. The acoustics are great!
The not so good-​Elevators are scarce and after an event lets out I see a lot of disabled and elderly people having a hard time. Elevators open for them and are so crowded with people on the top floors. This is something I’m not sure how they can address because it’s in the infrastructure.
Concession offerings — I just don’t think they hit the mark with their wine, beer and coffee selection. That needs to be looked into an a focus group created.
Again, 4 stars for a very fine venue in Orlando!

Was at the theatre again last night for the Broadway Across America Show, «Beautiful». GREAT show!!! And very happy to update my review with the fact that all the bars were open and provided very quick and efficient service.
Beautiful new theater. Only issue was with last nights performance of the ballet. Orlando Ballet’s production of Beauty and the Beast was great but what was up with the lack of bars open?!? Tried to get a drink before the show but lines super long with only 3 bars open. All I wanted was water so I tried to go to coffee location but after waiting in entire line, found out after the fact that they’re card machine was down and only took cash. Rushed out at intermission to get water and again, only 2 main bars open with minimal staff so waited in line for the entire intermission for just a bottle of water. Feel bad for the folks in line behind me because the show started with a long line still behind me. Really silly to have so few open for a Friday night show.

I am so happy that Orlando finally got the arts center that is deserves! (And that women now have the bathroom they deserve! hehe)
I was very fortunate that I was able to take a tour of the venue when it was still under construction and I must say the moment I saw it (even when not completed) I got chills. The stage is just perfect and everything is so beautiful about the Disney performance hall. They really paid attention to details. I have always had a great experience with the volunteers here (not the biggest fan of the bright orange vests…) and staff has always been pleasant as well.
So excited for when it’s 100% complete!!!

All I can say is — wow! Five stars for a gorgeous new downtown performing arts center! Walking up to the Dr. Phillips Center is incredible from City Hall, especially at night. The building itself looks modern and impressive. It’s hard to miss it driving through downtown on Orange Avenue. There’s not a dedicated parking garage, but there is plenty of parking within a short 5 – 10 minute walk to the center.
Everything about the inside of the theater blew me away. The lobby and lounging areas are beautiful and the theaters are even more beautiful! Being seated inside the Walt Disney Theater feels like you’re in New York watching a Broadway show. The Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater is a very intimate venue and a perfect spot for smaller productions. Don’t forget to look up in both theaters — what they’ve done to the ceilings is also impressive.
They have a small menu of snacks and sandwiches, so you may want to grab a bite to eat at the many eateries in the area. Some of them even offer a small discount if you check on the Dr. Phillips Center’s website! They do have several bars so that you can grab wine or beer on the way in to the show.
I came here recently for two performances as part of UCF Celebrates the Arts and am so glad that the community came together to put these shows on. Thank you to the ushers, greeters, and staff who were there to help answer questions and ensure smooth performances. Kudos to many of them who are volunteers.
I’m excited for more shows in the future!

Dr. Phillips Center would be a 5-​star joint if not for some rude employees we encountered.
At least 3 different people ticked us off with their attitude. One lady upon approach asked «what are you here for?» The tone she used set me off just a bit right there. I said I have a question. I start to show my ticket, and she starts blabbing off all kinds of information and instructions that had nothing to do with my question. I HATE when people do that.
The ushers weren’t much better. They didn’t want to answer any questions either. They just wanted to hurry us off to seats of their choosing. So be aware of that if you ever have a general admission ticket.
Other than that this is a fine place. Food prices are really reasonable considering the location. There are some really nice people who work here. It’s too bad they’re overshadowed by a few bad apples.

5 Star venue! Absolutely gorgeous! It’s a great addition to downtown Orlando. We are definitely becoming a city to contend with.
I have been lucky enough to attend a few shows at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. There are plenty of bars and bathrooms on all levels, so the wait during intermission isn’t bad; roomy seats and there are plenty of staff to assist with whatever need you may have.
Enjoy all that the building has to offer because for those of you that are out-​of-​towners, it truly is an experience. The architecture, the artwork inside and the balconies with AMAZING views.
TIP — if you want to purchase tickets for a show, go to their ticket box and you will save a few dollars on handling fees. They are open Monday — Saturday.

I saw Kinky Boots today here. I love this place.
Very elegant in every which way! The beauty is in the design from inside where we sit to the bathrooms and just the whole place! My only complaint is the sound from the actors was not loud enough. The costumes and singing were over the top!

Simply a beautiful venue, great location although construction in nearby areas plus in the heart of downtown, well please give enough time to make it through traffic any day of the week. Nice eclectic, modern building. The premium on valet parking, totally worth it. Staff was very professional and knowledgeable. Seats are comfortable, loved the areas to get social while enjoying a cocktail or two. Now talking of cocktails, they should have more bartenders on staff specially when you have a sold out function. This is very important for all, the venue in terms of revenue and the customers so they can really enjoy a cocktail or two, you never know besides the event what other special moment is been celebrated (wedding anniversary, birthday, etc) went to see Kinky Boots and I loved it, I loved the entire experience, except the one bartender for a thousand ppl.

We had a dinner social during a conference here and it was amazing. So beautiful to have this space to ourselves and what an atmosphere to eat and network. The staff were professional and friendly. Starting with the Elvis concert, this is either our 4^th or 5^th time in this BE-​YOO-​TI-​FUL building: the Dylan concert in April etched exquisite echoes in the innermost chambers of my ears, and a satisfied grin on the outermost contours of my face. Dr. Phillips is a real step up from Bob Carr, which, sad to say, is dilapidated by comparison. The cool argon vibes of the vestibule contrasts with the warm glow of the copper tone décor inside the Walt Disney theatre. Seats are comfortable, staff are friendly and helpful, and while I won’t go quite as far as to say there isn’t a bad seat in the house (those seats in the very back of the Mezzanine or the third level must be PRETTY far from the action, it’s circular enough to ensure more good seats than other set-​ups. The valet parking is a convenience for the well-​heeled ($ 30 plus tip) — I would just prefer to spend my hard-​earned dollars in a more productive manner. The strategy of eating downtown and walking usually works: Kasa and Artisan’s table are both just a-​third of a mile away, and Avenue a few steps more. Beats even paying the $ 10 for parking at commons and various other lots. And if it’s raining, Über it, like we did tonight!

What an amazing venue in downtown Orlando. I came here with the group to see The Sound of Music inside the Walt Disney theater. Truly an amazing show, and an amazing venue.
One of the things that I truly appreciated about the Walt Disney theater are the very roomy seats. One of the reasons I would not go to the Bob Carr. I cannot tell you how many shows I would’ve liked to of seen at the Bob Carr but would not go because I knew that I would be very uncomfortable. Thank you Dr. Phillips. You will get my business in the future again.
As always I saw the long lines at the restrooms, especially at the ladies room.
I guess you can not make enough stalls in a leave his room to accommodate everybody. Oh well.
Venue was great, the show was great, and even valet parking was a good experience.
I’m already considering a return visit.

The Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts has been open for just over a year. It is gorgeous. I was lucky to attend the black tie grand opening and while that was a truly a magical night, this venue has continued to leave me awestruck each and every time I visit.
The Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts sits in the shadow of the old Round Bank building which is directly across the street from City Hall between Anderson & South streets. Every attention to detail was paid when creating this space; even the bathrooms are sexy!
If you can get here, GET HERE and take in all that there is to offer. You will be so glad you did.

Really extraordinary space.
The seating is comfortable and view has been great despite different areas of seating during different performances.
Ideally there would be on site parking, but that is not available is it?
I have, on weeknights, taken the sun rail to avoid parking. Walking distance is not far at all.
Nothing to do about it but park elsewhere which is not all that hard with proper timing. I’m just not a fan of paying a lot for valet parking.
Beautiful venue! Really excited about the planned shows.

The Dr. Phillips Center is an absolutely beautiful performing arts center. And I love that it has breathed new life into the arts scene in Orlando. Ever since this amazing facility opened in the City Beautiful we’ve had an influx of amazing shows and events we just didn’t have the means to host before.
Outside of being a sanctuary for artists to showcase their incredible work, The Dr. Phillips Center is, itself, a work of art. The building is an architectural beauty and truly ads a new sense of class to Orlando. It’s awesome to look at just when driving past it as you’re making your way through downtown.
Inside, the building is quite large. Very refreshing after years of attending shows at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. I’ve been to several shows at Dr. Phillips now, some of them very large performances, yet I’ve never felt crowded. They did a really good job with laying everything out in such a way so-​as to streamline crowd movement.
And then there is the theater. Just awesome. Like I said above, I’ve been to multiple shows at Dr. Phillips. For some I had seats front of house. Others I sat up in the balcony. And you know what? I don’t think there is a bad seat in this theater. Even back in the nosebleed seats you can see everything. And the acoustics are top notch.
This performing arts center felt like it took forever to go up. But the wait was well worth it. I can’t wait to see what amazing productions come to Orlando in the future now that we have this amazing facility.

This is such a beautiful theatre, inside and out! It looks like Millenia Mall: P The decorations, interior design, and the women’s bathroom is gorgeous (random I know) but the chandeliers and vanity set up is every girl’s dream.
I’ve watched two broadways here, Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella (Disney lover!!) and want to come back for more shows! I enjoy myself and it’s fun coming with a big group to experience everything with you. I would recommend getting seats on the Orchestra (1^st floor) or even the 2^nd or 3^rd floor. Just make sure you sit in the middle to get that perfect view of everything happening on the stage. Of course, tickets won’t be cheap if you sit on the first floor and depending on the popularity of the show, get your tickets and seats FAST!
The only downfall are the prices of the drinks and snacks. I mean I understand that it is an event center and like any other typical places, prices will be higher than expected. But oh well, indulge yourself a little :)
Overall, it’s a wonderful place and definitely an experience!

This is a new performing arts theatre located in downtown Orlando. We first came here because we won some free tickets, thank you Unilocal,and we have been coming back since. This theatre is absolutely gorgeous! When you first enter there is a beautiful staircase that just makes you want to take pictures in front of it. We just discovered that there are two different theaters located inside. The Walt Disney theatre and the Jim and Alexis Pugh theatre. The seats are very comfortable and not too close or small like some theaters. Even the bathrooms are fancy and clean and neat!
My only negative, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is the price inside. They have bars all around and they are extremely pricey! They also have a few snacks and wraps but again very expensive. I understand that it’s new but I don’t like the price they charge for a drink. That’s my only criticism and it clearly doesn’t stop us from coming here! I would definitely check out this place for a show! They also have an app that allows to buy tickets from it and choose your exact seats.

The anticipation was real. Each time I would pass by the center and see a newly developed section I would get excited like a little child. I couldn’t wait for the doors to swing open during open house.
When that day finally came I was proud to be a part of the opening day celebrations. I took the tour with my kids and we all had an amazing time walking through the different theaters, going back stage. (A place you wouldn’t usually be privileged to see).
That day I made note of all the shows I was going to see and one in particular that I was very eager to see was Diana Ross in concert. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was in that theater in disbelief for a moment while she was on stage. Diana Ross! I got to see her up close, on stage, singing tunes like — Upside Down, I’m Coming Out, & Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. Wow! Wow! Wow! Her show was fantastic. She was amazing! And then I saw the Orlando Ballet perform with my Unilocal Fan, and it was great.
But the best part of all was getting to see my three daughter’s, each perform on the stage themselves with other students of the Dr. Phillips Center.
They were a part of the very first students to take Dr. Phillips School of Performing Arts classes. One took vocal, the other violin, and the other musical theater. Classes began in January 2015 and their performance was in June. The second semester is on it’s way and we’re excited to be a part of it again. They met a lot of new people, loved their teachers, and getting to learn something new. It was challenging but they all overcame and did excellent.
The instructions are great, with years of experience and the way they handled my daughter’s education meant a great deal to me. My girls are learning so much. The tuition is reasonable and worth it. (However, they do not offer any discounts if you have multiple children).
So catch a show or two, sign up for classes if you wanna get your singing and dancing on (they do offer way more than that though), and celebrate being a part of history.

Such a welcome addition to our Central Florida community. Have already been to a couple of shows here, and loved every minute of each.
While this place is simply gorgeous, one of my favorite things about this arts center is how they welcome everyone from the community. There’s really no dress code (although you’ll see everyone from shorts and flip flops to suits and fine gowns), and the entrance begs for all to come in.
The one downfall here is the parking. There are numerous public garages within blocks, but no parking specifically for this venue.
Looking forward to many more shows here in the future!
