DoubleTree by Hilton

My company’s HQ is in Orlando and has a rate with this hotel so I’ve been about ten times over the last two years.
Pros– staff is nice, place is clean, Starbucks in lobby, decent views, nice gym area. Not bad for a one night stay
Cons — this hotel has by far the worst food of any hotel I’ve ever been to room service or breakfast buffet. Even something simple like a burger is just plain bad. constant wifi problems with the screen never coming up (probably half the times I’ve been) in the rooms so don’t plan on getting work done, train passes by loudly at all hours of the night, shuttle is always 20 minutes away somehow even though it’s only supposed to travel 3 miles and getting a cab here is just as difficult so make sure you give plenty of time if you have a meeting
Advice to management — get some new cooks, fix your wifi issues, add a couple more shuttles and you’d be ranked much higher

We found this hotel to be a solid 3 ½ star as identified. It is also identified as a downtown hotel but it’s not in the main part of downtown, although it looks like downtown is growing that way. Oddly it’s a little difficult to get to, and I’m not sure why. Maybe just because of how the streets are right around it. We sure couldn’t get an Über driver to pick us up there, which we were thinking might be why. They do offer a shuttle to the other parts of downtown about every 20 minutes, although we didn’t utilize it.
Anyway…friendly professional quick check-​in for our Saturday night stay. Warm delicious cookies. Nice lobby.
Parking: When you drive up there’s a sign that says «Valet Only». Makes one think that’s the only option, but you can drive up that ramp into the garage and park yourself. Now it’s only a few bucks cheaper to do that, but in our case it wasn’t about the cost, it was knowing we were going to have to come and go and didn’t want to keep having to bug a valet to do so.
Room: King. Decent. Clean. At first we were hesitant to go in because we heard the tv on, but well, it was just that the tv was on. Not sure why. Hope that’s not a standard thing, as I would think it would be a waste of electricity. Nice view of the pool and a small lake. Bed was comfortable enough for a 3 ½ star.
Yes, there’s a train that comes through at oh about 1:30 a.m. Can’t miss it, no matter how deep of a sleep you’re in. This one is a doozy! Not the hotel’s fault though. Speaking of noise and not the hotel’s fault, our floor was full of way too many drunk rude folks even later than that late train. And at least the train wasn’t rude for hours. Don’t know if it was thin walls or just super loud arseholes but it was pretty bad. It did sound like security came up and warned them at one point, although it didn’t do much good.
TIP: Deals can be had for this hotel!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. My fiancé reserved the King sized Suite with a whirlpool jacuzzi. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with warm cookies. The staff was great and the front desk employees helped us find our room. Our room overlooked the roof top pool. I would definitely stay in this hotel again. Two cons: The hotel room didn’t come with a mini fridge or microwave and the sound of the train is very loud at night.

I laugh at many of these Hiltons I stay in from time to time as Paris or Nicky would never be caught dead at them. I generally only stay at them when my first choice in hotels is sold out, as was the case for this stay.
More mature lady at front desk was 5 star service. No doubt.

Location not great for downtown activities though they do have a shuttle. It’s not hotel’s fault it’s filled with old drunks. Croatian driver awesome. It’s a good location to walk to cute Ivanhoe neighborhood or a quick shuttle ride to Winter Park though.
Bed and bedding nice.
Overall hotel is fine. Valet parking price quite reasonable IMO.

I was working in Orlando and lucked into an amazing rate at the Doubletree. It was around $ 100 plus tax, and my hotel status gave me an amazing free breakfast buffet and a late checkout. Check-​in was friendly, and the overnight girl was AWESOME. Best attitude I’ve ever seen for an overnight staff member, and I stay at a lot of hotels. Sure, the parking fee sucks, but it’s downtown Orlando, what do you expect?

I’m very confused by previous ratings. This hotel is excellent all around. For 89.00 a night, this hotel offers everything that is expected from a Doubletree. The lobby and common spaces have been beautifully remodeled and the rooms are large and well-​stocked.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at 60 South at the DoubleTree Downtown Orlando. Grilled Chicken BLTA! Yummy.

Very nice hotel, warm cookies at check-​in, Starbucks in the lobby! The woman at the front seat went over and above to welcome us and was just awesome.
The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The only issue was the train that comes roaring through in the early hours of the morning.
Very conveniently located by the interstate and close to the center of downtown.

This hotel has an average rating of 3 stars, and that’s about right IMO. This is an older hotel for certain, though they’ve done a decent job of keeping her updated and everything from the bathroom fixtures and furnishings to the light fixtures, bedding and hardware in the room were newer. They could do a better job of keeping up on maintenance, however; There were stains on the wall near the entrance door, the round table that serves as a night stand between the two beds was heavily chipped in places and the power outlets that are mounted in the desk were loose and came apart. There was also a large area on the mirror in the bathroom where it appeared the reflective surface behind the glass was chipping away.
TV selection is meh, they have all the larger networks and HBO, but it wasn’t as good as some other hotels I’ve been in lately. I appreciated the alarm clock next to the bed for its simplicity; There’s 1 button to set the alarm, an up/​down button to adjust the alarm time, and a button to turn the alarm on. That’s it! No extra features like a radio or iPod docking station or music and sound effects to lull you to sleep, etc. just a simple, straightforward alarm clock. The room also has a safe, hair dryer, boutique lotions, soaps and shampoo, and a 1 or 2 cup coffee maker with a selection of regular and decaf coffee and tea. WiFi is complimentary — I used it on 2 evenings and early mornings and the speed was more than adequate.
It should be noted that the connected parking garage is really the only parking option for this hotel. It’s $ 17/​night to park there and the garage is not accessible from the interior of this hotel. One must take the elevator to the lobby, schlep through the lobby, go outside the main entrance and down a breezeway into the adjacent garage before reaching the (slow and dirty) elevator which will take you to the floor where you’ve parked.
While the location of this hotel is decent, right off I-​4, there’s really nothing within walking distance to do/​see at night, so unless you’re happy with the restaurant/​bar at this property, you’re going to be stuck driving or calling a cab or shared ride service to find better options for food or drink
When I first walked into my room at this hotel, I immediately noticed a set of earplugs on the night stand, with a note saying that this area was converting to a different type of rail system soon, but until then, they hoped the earplugs they’d provided would make my stay a better one. Translation: There’s a friggin’ locomotive with a loud set of air horns that rumbles past this hotel at all hours. Nice! Though I wasn’t bothered by the train or traffic noise that can be heard from nearby I-​4, I was surprised at how much sound from outside was audible in my room. Maybe instead of placing ear plugs in all the rooms, they could simply caulk and seal the windows?
On the first night I stayed here, there was no «do not disturb» sign in my room. I thought perhaps when one bolted the door, this somehow indicated to the staff that the room was occupied. Nope! Housekeeping started knocking at just after 8:30 a.m. When I explained I wasn’t planning to leave until 10, that was merely a «snooze button» for them, and they started knocking again 45 minutes later. Oddly, room service never placed a do not disturb sign in my room for the second night of my stay, I had to get my own from the front desk.
The $ 257 including tax per night that I paid for my stay here was absolutely not worth it. If I’d paid about ½ that rate, then maybe.

I’m a bit conflicted about my current stay with Doubletree. Beautiful hotel, clean, super nice and quiet 4^th floor pool deck, relatively friendly staff… but I feel like they lost me on a couple important points.
#1– We had guests staying with us in a room across the hall for the 1^st night. Yes, we were congregating at 1am and TALKING. Not «partying», not yelling, not jumping up and down… simply TALKING. Apparently it was a little much for our neighbors. I have total respect for the fact that people in hotels have many different agendas, schedules, and reasons for their stay and I am the last one to want to disturb someone’s need for sleep. What I do not like is the need for an actual security guard to knock on the door and act in a rude manor upon a 1^st notice. Honestly Doubletree, a simple courteous phone call from the front desk would have done the trick. A small bit of kindness goes a long way.
#2– I’m frankly a little shocked by the following. I don’t claim to have an official nut allergy but I am very sensitive to walnuts and pecans depending their ripeness and whether they are toasted or not. If all fectors are in line, I have no issues. If they are lot, my throat will itch and swell and I will be completely miserable for a good 3 hours. As I bit into my complimentary chocolate chip cookie and realized it was full of walnuts, I was more concerned for those people who have serious nut allergies which can in fact cause them to stop breathing. BAD MOVE! Why not give people a choice or at least inform them that they are about to consume nuts? :/

5 stars for the warm cookie at check-​in. This hotel desperately needs some renovation. The wallpaper? was peeling off and the wall near the window had a ginormous stain on it. Say what? At a Hilton? The downstairs area, gym and hallways are nice but the rooms are iffy. Both times I’ve stayed here they’ve put me in a connecting room (I have a 20 month old toddler), I hate that! I also left our towels on the rack so I could reuse them and they took them… lmao. I guess we can disregard the information on the desk then.
Also, the valet ticket says you can text your ticket number to a 5 digit number and they will start bringing your car down. Not sure if this works because I did try texting that number and my car never came. The hotel is close to many things though. Location is good so it will do if you have a short trip. I feel that they are a little overpriced for the condition that the rooms are in though.

What a great deal!
We stayed here for two nights while my little brother was undergoing surgery at Florida Hospital. It’s very conveniently located near Ivanhoe Village and was near I-​4. However, it’s very unfortunate that they’re closing down that exit permanently. It’s also very close to the Viet Town area and the Downtown area, as well, so there’s plenty of food and entertainment options available.
We found a special deal going on on their website and paid $ 200 for our entire stay, which isn’t too shabby for what we got. They’ve recently remodeled/​are in the process of remodeling and I like the stylistic choices they made. Everything was very modern, welcoming, and clean. The lobby had gorgeous drapes from ceiling to floor and the dining room was very well-​kept. They also have a small coffee shop available that serves Starbucks coffee, so you can definitely get your caffeine fix before the day begins! Complimentary WSJ were also available. I only wish the hallways were nicer though — everything was just very bare.
Our room was very nice. It felt very relaxing and comfortable; I especially loved the huge windows and how they did the closet area. The little details in the bedroom also provided a lot of charm; they included earplugs with the room for guests to block out the sounds of the SunRail and Amtrak trains. I also loved how all the artwork was Orlando-​themed. Wifi was included in our stay and it was pretty consistent; though there were moments were I was unable to log on. The bathroom was nice too; all the fixtures and tiling were very pretty. I wanted to buy that shampoo and conditioner — they smelled so nice! My only complaint is that the door to the bathroom was very flimsy and cheap looking. If they’re going for a high-​end look, the little details matter! The walls were also very thin — I could hear people walking down the halls.
Service-​wise, everyone I met was extremely polite and friendly! Jacob at the front desk was especially helpful and I really appreciated it. At check-​in, he gave me a complimentary warm cookie and explained to me all the amenities they offer (in-​room massages, CareLine, a gym, the pool, etc.). If you forgot any basic toiletries, they have a CareLine for you to call and they’ll bring it up to you. There isn’t any free parking on the premises, but there’s limited street parking available. If you don’t want street parking, you’ll need to pay $ 17 for self-​parking or $ 20 for valet. I chose to do the valet route just to avoid the hassle of parking in the garage; it’s just $ 5 (min) extra, including tip. It’s also 24 hours, so you can call down and have your car brought up any time!
All-​in-​all, I had a great stay. Everything was very convenient and comfortable; I definitely recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay.
Pro-​Tip: It’s VERY cold in the main areas and the hallways, bring a sweater.

I chose the option to do the 99 $ a night stay at the double tree. It’s definitely a great deal because it isn’t too pricy for a hotel but not what I expected. The hotel lobby is nicer than the whole entire hotel. The rooms need renovation immediately. I had to call 3 times for them to fix the toilet because it wouldn’t flush. The doors had paint coming off of them, the room didn’t have a mini fridge. I was disappointed in my stay here and feel like I wasted my money on staying in this hotel. The staff was normal, the best thing of this hotel is hands down the Starbucks. Every thing else just needs massive updating.

Stayed here overnight for work and was not disappointed in my stay. I was greeted by a very bubbly and kind woman who helped me check in, told me about all the amenities, and showed me where I could find the parking garage.
The room itself was clean, albeit a little noisy since I was right by the elevator. But thankfully they had a pair of ear plugs with a kind note on my nightstand.
Overall, a good stay. My only gripe is that I had to pay $ 17 for parking. I understand it’s Orlando, but I’m already paying upwards of $ 200 for a hotel room.

Booked this hotel as my son and his high school mock trial team were competing in the 2015 Florida Mock trial competition. Since I booked too late I was only able to get the special rate for my first night, the second night was at the regular rate. But it’s ok, I rather pay a little more to feel comfortable. Valet parking was $ 20.00 a day or if you wish you can self park at their parking garage for $ 9.00 a day.
At checkin each guest gets a warm chocolate cookie. Yum!
The room was clean, beds and pillows comfy.

Very conveniently located in the hotel lobby is a Starbucks; however, they close at 7:00 pm which sucks for those late nights.
They have a very nice Italian restaurant downstairs sixties trattoria.
Please don’t order from the pizza delivery flyer that you will find in the hotel room. I didn’t like their food. We ordered a pizza and pasta, and it was not worth it.
This review is solely on my stay at the hotel and it was without issues.
Located near downtown, very convenient!

The doubletree downtown was great! I was there for a class and the conference rooms were great as well as the food. My coworker received «guest of the day» and was given a free room upgrade as well as some other perks! I didn’t even know they did that! My room was clean and comfortable.
That all being said, I did not get a chance to see how close I was to everything but my friend lived about a mile away in downtown so it seems that a can ride would get you to some great spots!
Oh! Almost forgot! They give you a cookie when you check-​in! Bonusssss!

Stayed here for a wedding. I had seen the Doubletree when passing through Orlando before but never knew what a good option it was. We arrived a bit early and decided to go with valet parking ($ 20 for valet vs $ 17 for self park). When approaching the front desk, we were told that our assigned room wasn’t ready but that they could get us into another room right away.
The lobby was massive and included a Starbucks and a bar. I was happy to see that I could get my morning beverages and night beverages at the same hotel. Upon entering the room, I was impressed with the size and quality. In the morning, we enjoyed a brunch in one of the conference rooms, which was also very nice. This hotel is located right in downtown Orlando on Lake Eola and was conveniently located to all of the downtown attractions. I will definitely consider the Doubletree next time I’m in the downtown Orlando area.

A pretty neat place to stay in downtown Orlando. Its not right in the middle of it, you will have to walk about 800m/0,5 miles to get to all the restaurants and bars.
This is the place to stay at if you are on the run all day, and just want a comfy place to stay at. Whether you are going to theme parks or to the beach, its a great place to start at. You will get on and off the highway right beside the hotel, which gives you less hassle in the car. Breakfast is good but not exceptional although the staff will handle you with a gentle touch.
Stay here if you wanna be close to downtown at nighttime and the possibility to see the rest of Orlando daytime by car. And when you finished checkin, dont forget to grab your hot choclate chip cookie that is wainting for you on the counter.

This hotel is a good match for me. I upgraded to the king corner room and it was just what I wanted, although the price was a bit high.

I don’t get the issues. The place was awesome. Yes the rooms are kinda plain but you’re not there to worry about decorations. The beds are unbelievably comfy and the bathrooms are really clean and well stocked. Yeah the doors behind the handle are a little worn and the wall edges are a little old but this hotel is well up to par. It was clean, staff helpful and smelled awesome and beautiful in the lobby. My complaint is the parking. This slider thing says over night parking please slide. We tried it every way. Ticket first then slide. Slide first then ticket. Nothing. So we’d have to pay every time we left which was pricey. It wasn’t helpful in helping us figure out how it worked. No employee was ever there in the booth working the garage. Other Than that pain in the as******** the hotel room was nice and dead quiet for us i would totally go back.
