Comfort Inn & Suites Convention Center

I have travelled extensively and my experience with the Comfort Inns has always been pleasant. However, the Comfort Inn Suites on Canada Street in Orlando was enough to turn me off the chain.
The pros: The room was clean; microwave and fridge in room
The cons: Everything else
I attended a convention and the main hotel sold out quickly. A block of rooms at a comparable rate was held at Comfort Inn Suites and, after one night at the Rosen Center, I moved to this alternate hotel.
The difference was night and day. Where the convention hotel was reasonable, I felt the «discounted» rate at Comfort Inn Suites was a rip-​off.
The hotel is dingy and dark. The room was adequate, but the blackout drapes are for show only, and do not close. There are a large number of floodlights surrounding the property so, if you’re light sensitive like me, good luck in falling asleep with these shining brightly in your eyes.
The included breakfast was disgusting. Generic cornflakes, minuscule muffins, and rubbery «fried» eggs that were disturbingly uniform in shape and size screamed frozen. Even the coffee was unpalatable.
My second night there, the fire alarm went off at 4:00 am, and the hotel voluntarily evacuated. I didn’t see one staff member outside, circulating among the confused guests and frightened children. After 40 minutes the alarm stopped and guests made their way back inside. We assumed it was a false alarm. The following day, there was no mention by the staff of this disruption, or any apology for the inconvenience.
Many of the guests were from outside the U.S. who came to shop at the nearby outlet shops, and the rest were budget conscious families visiting the theme parks.
Bottom line: This hotel is not worth the price. Keep looking. You can do better.

This is the worst stay I have ever had a hotel, and that’s saying a lot because I’ve stayed at nicer Good Nite Inn’s, which are cheapest of the cheap. It is currently 5:50 am and all of us staying here this evening just had a nice time outside together since someone either pulled the fire alarm or was smoking like an idiot in a non smoking hotel. Perhaps that is not directly the fault of the Comfort Inn, but if you read in the «not recommended reviews» you will find a similar story… hmm…
As also mentioned: the rooms smell like wet carpet. The Internet is constantly failing and I cannot stay connected for an extended period of time. The beds are not comfortable.
One of my nights here I went to another floor to get a drink from the vending machine. I put in two single dollar bills. Everything in the machine was sold out.
I got my quarters back and went to the next floor to try another machine. The machine ate one of my quarters. Now I have $ 1.75 for a machine in which everything costs $ 2. Great.
I go back to my room and grab the ice bucket, figuring that cold tap water was better than none.
The ice machines won’t dispense any ice.
As a last case scenario, I go to the market located in the lobby and grab a water and a Gatorade, but nobody was to be found at the front desk to ring me up for it. I yelled out «hello?» And waited about 10 minutes in case an employee was in the bathroom. No response. I ended up putting the drinks back and went back to my room and drank tap water.

Edit: I have added ONE additional star to the review for the following reasons:
–Complimentary shuttle to and from Walt Disney World was convenient
–The employees in charge of breakfast were kind. I didn’t wake up until 9:30 on the dot after the fire alarm fiasco, and was pleased to see they were still serving what was left of the breakfast without any complaint. They seemed to understand that everyone’s sleep had been hindered.
–The housekeeping employees are quite nice, and, while the place still needs MUCH updating, they do a good job of cleaning it and making it slightly better.

Stayed here on my teip to Universal Studios. Was very impressed with the place. Please be aware its a few blocks from the main road. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were updated and clean. The rate was great and we saved a lot of money because they have breakfast and a shuttle included. Would keep them in mind for my next trip.

The bathrooms are in serious need of an update and need to be cleaned more thoroughly… the carpet needs to be changed… someone who speaks even a little
English on the breakfast staff would be appreciated… the lady at the front desk is very rude. the beds are very uncomfortable. Whew now the pros: the shuttle bus to the park! My advice find another hotel!

Got a great rate for this hotel. The beds are uncomfortable. Had continuous back pain while walking around all day. The breakfast has variety so thumbs up on the food & pool area. The rooms are very outdated & clean enough. Friendly housekeepers & Staff. Offer an awesome shuttle service to Universal Studios which saved us parking cost. Ideal location to really good eateries.

Been to many Comfort Suites over the last three years, so I have plenty to compare this one against. The grounds itself is clean and crisp — nice to see for first impression. Staff greeted me very friendly. There is one gentleman there at the desk who has learned Spanish and Portuguese since working there to help communicate better with the guests — very commendable!
The rooms are spacious, clean, and fresh. Décor is contemporary. Air conditioning worked beautifully. The housekeeping staff does a great job, are friendly, and very polite. No complaints there!
Breakfast is the standard for all Comfort Suites. Fruits, cereals, yogurts, eggs, pastries, toast, bacon, juices, milk, coffee — all the foodstuffs you’d expect. Well-​maintained and clean. My daughter liked the workout space, too!
The ONLY complaint I had the entire four day stay — and it became a HUGE issue for me — was the Internet! It sucked! Could not get connection most of our stay on ANY of our devices. When we did, it wasn’t for long. Time outs and failures abound! I flushed my DNS cache more than once, tweaked settings, and even called their tech support line. They reset the access points and STILL epic fail! I had to go spend two hours at the local Starbucks to get my work documents in!!! This is NOT acceptable!!! I am in IT and need Internet!
Outside of the net, the visit was superb. Too bad the net issue left a sour taste in my mouth and will be a big factor in my future decisions on where to stay!

We stayed there one night and it was good. Great location and close to restaurants and bars within a short drive. The room and the bed was clean. This place is a good place to stay. They have breakfast I believe from 6 am to 9 am not sure though.

After a long day on set I was looking for a good quality hotel, found this one and the AC was not that cold and then when I went to get breakfast at 9:40 they said it was over, first hotel that cuts breakfast early, definitely not staying here again!!!

We called ahead to see if we could check in early since we drove 18 hrs and Orlando answered the phone he said yes it’s ok. When we arrived he said come back in an hr he didn’t have any clean rooms. We came back and he told us to come back 1 hr later again still no clean rooms. He caught and attitude and told us he wasn’t the person who told us to come but he has a distinct voice so that was a lie. We redialed the number and his phone started ringing. After my bf got upset he radioed housekeeping to see if there were any clean rooms then he gave us room keys but why is it that you have to cause a scene to be offered a room when this person clearly told us to come back in one hour. The room smelled like wet carpet and the breakfast looked horrible. The pool was nice and all the other hotel staff seemed pleasant. The hotel is in a great spot it’s close to everything.

We stayed here for a New Year celebration at Universal Studios, we stayed 4 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they truly seem to take customer service very serious here. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was good. The shuttle bus to the park was right on time and very easy to use, and a taxi was less the 8 bucks, so much cheaper and easier then taking your own car. A good place to stay for your vacation.
