This restaurant isn’t ready for prime time. The food was variable. One of our party had the duck and it was OK. My duck waddled to my table 10 minutes after everyone else was served. It was overly fatty and over cooked. And seemed to be a rush job. Service should have been better considering the price. Staffing seemed thin. I loved the place on Orange. This one not so much.

The food was good, not great. The server was inexperienced and not polished. The escargot was good and the scallops(4) were good. They did not come with green beans and carrots like the server said, but asparagus. Not bad. The bread was good and butter was amazing. A highlight of the meal The crew brûlée was amazing. Really amazing. Probably the best — really good The manager was so friendly and knew his wine :-) Wasn’t worth $ 100 and we shared a meal.

It’s not a good thing when you pay $ 30 for lunch for 2 and your stomach is growling only 2 hrs later! The portions are ridiculously small for the cost. We had a turkey & Brie sandwich and a quiche Lorraine… And water to drink. Each dish comes with a side salad that’s really about 3 bites. The quiche was very small. Like half of what you get in other places. Tres disappointing.

I was so happy to see that we had gotten this restaurant in the Dr Phillips Hospital. I went with a friend for lunch this past week. We both had the French dip I thought it was very good. I also had the muscles as an appetizer, which I enjoyed very much. So, I invited my husband to go for dinner last night. To say I was very disappointed is putting it lightly. First I ordered the muscles again for an appetizer because they’ve been so good, and they were good again. However the waiter brought out three little slices of bread. It was ridiculous so we asked for more. I ordered the pork shank so did my friend and my husband ordered the Coq Au Vin. First of all, if I can make an entrée better at home than a French restaurant can’t serve, I need not spend $ 27 on a pork shank, which neither my friend nor I could eat. We ended up taking both of those entrées home for my husbands chicken looked as though it came out of the same pot is the pork shank. He was not thrilled. The stoop my friend ordered looked more like beans and rice and was not anything but mediocre. I’m getting this restaurant a bad review, because it’s what it deserves. If you’re going to survive you have got to do better. It was a sad dinner and I don’t plan to return unless I hear they have much improved their meals. Please don’t waste your money. And when I think about it, what chef would see to uneaten entrées come back to the kitchen to be taken home, and not question that? I hope they will improve, because it would be nice to have a decent French restaurant in the area.

Formerly Bistro Cloclo, Bistro Le Coq Au Vin was recently bought and reinvented by an area restaurant expert. Unfortunately, the first visit early on was a total disappointment. Two at our table ordered the Chicken Napa Salad(Assorted wild greens, tossed with dried fruits and fresh grapes, served with marinated grilled chicken breast and Creamy vinaigrette). The greens were served in a pitiful portion — barely a side salad — there were maybe a half dozen paper thin micro sized slices of dried fruit, two halved grapes, the chicken tasted very strong as if it had been reheated to excess and was dry, and the dressy was very loose/watery and overly tangy. The server was pleasant and polite, and when she asked how the food was and replied it was just OK the manager was sent over. She too was pleasant, thanked us for the feedback as it was a new place, and apologized for the growing pains. Then the check came: $ 32.00 including tax/tip. Ridiculous! No discount for a terrible meal, no comp’d anything… just a $ 7 salad at best for double that…
