To further support the clients of the business, John Carr is both an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service and a Certified Financial Planner.

History

Established in 1984.

Better Business Services Inc. started in San Antonio, Texas on November 11^th, 1983. It is a Texas corporation (Charter number 6 787 600) and authorized to do business in Florida on September 6^th, 1984 under charter number P03291. Our Federal taxpayer identification number is 74 – 2 288 879. Originally Better Business Services Inc. was known as Bookkeepers Business Service Company and based in California with offices stretching across the United States. It operated in excess of 100 offices nationwide, of which many had been opened in the early 1960’s.

John Carr purchased the Texas and Florida operations in the early 1980’s and expanded the range of services offered by the company, renaming the company, Better Business Services Inc.

The company was a pioneer in the electronic filing of income tax returns and federal employment reports. The company has been recognized for a number of years as the first filer in the region to transmit accepted returns to the IRS service center.

Meet the Business Owner

John C.

Business Owner

John M. Carr was born in Chicago Illinois, but grew up in New Zealand. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at Auckland University before being recruited by a Fortune 25 company in the United States. He held several positions within the sales and marketing departments of the company during his nine-​year tenure.

Between 1977 and 1984 he purchased a number of offices of a bookkeeping company, which became the nucleus of today’s Better Business Services Inc. He also completed his MBA and obtained a Certified Public Accountant’s license in Oklahoma and Minnesota during this time.

In 1984 he left 3M to pursue his own entrepreneurial business opportunities. Concentrating on bookkeeping, tax preparation and payroll processing in Texas and Florida, the company developed a strong reputation as a proven provider of tax and bookkeeping advice for small businesses.
