AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

Ripped me off to the tune of $ 2400 to rebuild my transmission (not including time out of work and a rental) when the problem was a bad coilpack. When I got my truck back the transmission would constantly miss gears while shifting. He took my truck back in the shop for two weeks and did nothing but put 100 miles on it. Stanley constantly stalled me and led me on while trying to force me out of the warranty period. Ended up having to get in touch with corporate Aamco to try and resolve things after six months of Stanley’s bs. My truck never ran right again. Don’t put yourself through what this guy will do to you. You’ll be better off driving your car off a bridge. One star is giving him too much credit.
This happened about six years ago but I drove by there today and got a sick feeling in my stomach, so I figured a nice review would help.

AAMCO has serviced our family cars for about 6 years. They’re always helpful and even when I moved to another city, they were still able to assist me and make sure things were handled at the new location. I appreciate Stan and the team for what they do.

Being ripped off on a Monday morning is not my idea of a good way of starting the week before I start an 18 states road trip.
I had spoken to Stanley on Friday regarding an ad on TV free check engine light check. As of Thursday my check engine light came on.
Our converstation started this way.
Me: Hi Stanley what is the charged for checking the check engine light?
Stanley: There are no charges we will do a 22 point inspections and let you know if anything needs to be worked on, and will quote a price and let you decide if you want to procede.
Me: Are you sure this is free?
Stanley: Yes it is all free unless you want to proceed to work on any finding in that case we will we ask for your permission.
Me: When I come on Monday you will check my check engine light at no cost as stated on the commercial?
Stanley: YES.
Guess what happended on Monday morning?
I arrived at 7:45AM
Stanley told me they can check the check engine light but in order for them to tel lme what the codes means they have to charged me $ 99.00 and they must do a 22 point inspections for an additional $ 69.99.
What the heck where did this fee comes from after I have repeatedly asked if there was a fee?
I asked him why he didn’t let me know on Friday about the charges? he then told me common sense would have told me no one is going to inspect a car for free. OH really I should have known you were a liar?
I reminded him our conversation, I told him he needs to check the engines and tell me the codes as promised. At this point he became very rude and told me unless I pay for the whole inspections telling me the codes will not do me any good unless they do the inspections.
He will not tell me what the codes are, at this point I told him I was going to launch complaints with the better business bureau and contact chanel 9 investigative reporting on his switch and bait tactics.
He called an employee to tell me the codes and refused to give me a print out.
I suggest if you need car work you avoid AAmco and their dubious business tactics.
