Business Owner
LaFontaine E. Oliver joined 90.7 WMFE public radio for Central Florida as President & General Manager in May 2013. Prior to joining WMFE Oliver served as the General Manager of WEAA-FM in Baltimore, MD for seven years where he successfully increased station funding, listenership and community engagement. He worked in commercial radio as well for more than a decade for companies such as Radio One and XM Satellite Radio. LaFontaine has launched numerous national programs successfully and headed initiatives aimed at increasing service to underserved audiences.
LaFontaine is a native of Washington, DC where he served in a variety of community and broadcast organizations prior to locating to Central Florida. Locally, LaFontaine serves as President of the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists (CFABJ). Statewide, he serves on the Florida Public Broadcasting Service (FPBS) Board as Secretary and nationally, he serves on the board of Eastern Region Public Media (ERPM) as Vice Chair.
