History

Established in 1961.

Begun as a lakeside lodge in 1961 as a family business it was originally

the Jed Prouty Lodge. In the early days, the Inn was a full restaurant famed for its prime rib dinners. From the late 60s to the 70s the Lodge was quite the hot night spot for locals.

In 1988 new owners changed the name to the Alamoosook Lodge. They ran the Lodge as an event center and guest lodging. In the early 2000s, the current owner changed the name to the Alamoosook Lakeside Inn. The reasoning was two-fold. First the primary asset of the property is that it is on a lake. The name needed to reflect that. Also as weddings are a major part of the business, there was an attempt to make sure prospective clients knew that the facility was more upscale than a camp (no dead animal heads on the walls).

Meet the Business Owner

Gina B.

Business Owner

My move to Alamoosook Lake was the fulfillment of a lifetime dream to live on a lake. I came here in August of 2001 from the Washington DC area. I am an environmental scientist by training and was working for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prior to my departure.

A large metropolitan area was never a good fit for me. So when my daughter went off to college I started my search for «home.» It took me two years to find The Alamoosook Lakeside Inn. I knew it was home the moment I saw it. So I quit my job and off to my new life I went. I have never regretted my move.

Every day I get to hear the loons call and watch the eagles soar. I have gotten involved in local environmental protection efforts and feel that I am still utilizing my professional training and making a tangible contribution to protecting this beautiful area. Being an Innkeeper has given me the opportunity to meet so many fascinating people from literally all over the world.
