Very bad experience. The technician has no experience and did not know what to do his work. He inspect the unit and tell me he can not do the work. he charge us service call $ 99 without doing anything. I called back to the company for a dew time for explanation and the owner/​manager yelled at me and hang up my phone. This is a very bad experience that I ever had. Not professional at all. They are Trane certified company and does not know how to work on Trane system. What a Joke!

Think twice before hiring this company! They are deceptive by selling you services/​products that you do not need and/​or they fail to tell you about additional services/​products you actually need. In hindsight, they took advantage of me and sold me a higher capacity furnace (bigger than what my small home 698 sq. foot home actually needed) when I only needed my outside HVAC unit repaired. They also failed to alert me of the fact that I needed a chimney liner, which led to water damage to a bedroom ceiling and wall due to the high amount of condensation in the chimney. I later filed a claim with the BBB and Polar tried to act as though I was lying about the damages their faulty services caused to my home. This company is deceptive and will not stand by their own work if any future problems arise from the services they performed. Please due your research before contacting Polar Heating; there are quite a few negative reviews of this company on Facebook and Ripoff Report.
For a reputable and trustworthy HVAC service provider, use BEDOLLA HEATING & COOLING of Joliet, 815−726−2537. They are very friendly and honest; they won’t sell you something you don’t need!

This company is horrible. I called them yesterday to service my boiler and it was a big waste of time. The service man came down stairs seen the boiler and said he didnt know how to fix the issue. He never touch the boiler or even got on his knees to get a closer look. He then suggusted that I buy another boiler. After my fraustating respones to him… He sugguested that his supervisor come by to check out the problem in a hour. Well the supervior never came to investigate the problem. I mean, this company is a big waste of time.

I contacted the Orland Park office last week and Joliet yesterday. I needed a quote for work to be done. I haven’t received a call back from either location. I’m glad they have a brisk work schedule, but in my opinion trust and sales are earned from any business, and Polar has not met my standards.

I recently have Polar installed boiler for my house in Arlington Heights I am very satisfied with company about price and service. I would definitely recommend anyone to call for Jerry Rog (Field Manager) for estimate then compare with other estimate you will be surprising… fair vs. ripoff

First I educated myself as best I could about furnaces. Had about six quotes… prices all over.
I continued until I found a sales person who truly knew what he was talking about (from what I had learned)…and that was Polar. I also read that sales might be knowledgeable and price reasonable, but the most important are the installers, so I asked to send their best… AND THEY CERTAINLY DID! I opened the door to two gentlemen who were right on time… extremely polite, caring not to dirty anything.
They were a father and son! What more could I ask! …a father teaching his son how to properly install a furnace in a crawl space. They were so polite and diligent in their work.
I am completely satisfied with Polar. I would recommend them to anyone who needs service and/​or heating and air.

Polar Heating and Air is highly recommended. My elderly mother has a 3 flat in the city. She had all kinds of trouble with her furnace, and they came out right away diagnosed the problem and had the best price. All the other companies tried gauging my mother. It’s just refreshing dealing with a reputable business. I can’t say enough about how satisfied I am with their service.

I would definitely recommend these guys. Jerry was here at the agreed time, was very conversant about what he was doing and solved my a/​c problem in less than an hour. The cost was more than fair and he gave me pointers on how to avoid problems in the future. A good experience altogether.

Were here within 20 minutes of phone call. Our furnace went out in 0 degree weather and we needed someone to come and help ASAP! The tech that came by was very friendly and efficient. My heater is working so I am happy and warm!

Our AC died at the close of summer when the days were relatively cool, so we figured we could replace it when it was convenient. When the temps started to dip, we turned on our furnace, and shortly thereafter, it quit blowing warm air. We had a highly rated company come out to diagnose the problem. The tech looked at our 21 year old furnace, and commenced to tell us that it was over thirty years old and that it was useless to try and fix it. We asked for an estimate on a new ac and furnace, which we never received.
Despite bad reviews, we called Polar for an estimate. We talked to several other companies to be sure that we received the best deal. Polar was by far the most economical and helpful. Over the week we were considering our options, we had several questions, and Bill from Polar was easily accessible and answered our questions in a timely manner.
We chose to have our ac and furnace replaced, as well as having a whole house air purifier and humidifier installed. We also had the ducts cleaned and a WiFi thermostat installed. This was expected to be a ten hour job. The workmen were at our home for almost thirteen hours without a break. It was almost 11 PM when they were done. They could have finished for the day at a reasonable hour, but were obviously determined to not leave us without heat for the night.
From the salesperson to the office personnel to the technicians, our experience with Polar has been exceptional.

I own a 2 bedroom 1400 square foot condo in Lakeview with an 18 year old furnace and AC unit. The blower motor on the furnace was failing so it was time for a new furnace and figured I’d replace the AC unit at the same time since you get a discount for doing both. I called got quotes from Polar, Oasis, Guardian and Shavitz based on Unilocal reviews. I just needed a simple replacement of a 80% furnace and 2.5 ton 13 SEER AC unit… no duct work or fancy upgrades. Polar and Oasis were both in the $ 5−6k range fully installed. Guardian and Shavitz were around $ 7−9k fully installed. Get a LOT of quotes because you’d be surprised by the price range for the exact same products. For example, Polar and Guardian both use Rheem but Polar was at $ 5k and Guardian was at $ 7k for the exact same products and install. So I was down to Polar and Oasis based on price. Polar had few and mediocre Unilocal reviews at the time but their Angie’s list reviews seemed pretty good. I was tempted to go with Oasis which had great Unilocal reviews… but they were about $ 6k for similar products. I decided to go with Polar based on cost, Angie’s list reviews and a $ 200 off coupon on their website.
Bill from Polar came out to give me the quote and when I said I would go ahead 3 guys from Polar came out the very next day and spent 6 hours removing my old units and installing the new Rheem ones. It included the furnace, AC unit, a new humidifier and a new programmable thermostat. Final price was $ 5,050. They were clean, professional and did a great job and the new units are working perfectly. I would give them an A+ based on lowest price, quickness and professionalism. I would definitely use them again in the future.

I called Polar Heating when my furnace was not warming the house. It was just blowing air with no heat. The technician came out and got the furnace to generate heat again. However, he didn’t know for sure what the problem was. He removed the high limit switch and put it back in. He guessed that my circuit board might be faulty, and even suggested replacing the entire furnace. I found that odd since my furnace was working, but just wasn’t warming the house. I paid the service fee of $ 59 and he said to call if the problem happened again.
10 days later, the problem reoccurred. I called at 11PM and was told they would try to have a technician at my house in the morning. At 1:30PM the next day, i received a call from the same technician telling me there wasn’t much he could do other than order a new circuit board, or a new furnace. A new circuit board would cost over $ 500 and may arrive within 3 – 4 days. When I questioned how certain he was that the circuit board was faulty, he replied nothing in life is 100% certain. Needless to say i wasn’t confident in his assessment and asked if he could come back to the house and diagnose the problem with a higher degree of certainty, he responded with «I am too busy» and «I’m not going to make your problem my problem», and finally… «i could spend 5 hours at your house and it isn’t going to change anything». He suggested that I get a second opinion because he was too busy to come back out. I told him how disappointing his comments were and how surprised I am to hear these things. I was really close to calling his management team but chose to focus on getting the heat back on at my home. At this point, the temperature at my house was 62 degrees and although I was cool, I didn’t want my kids sleeping another night in the cold.
I hung up the phone and called another service provider. I had a tech at my house within 4 hours and heat working within 15 minutes. The problem… a faulty high limit switch. There is certainly a difference in service providers and there is a difference in levels of service. One provider gladly came out and diagnosed the problem while another tried to tell me what he thought the problem might be. I would call this malpractice!
Polar needs to do a better job of training its employees because they lost me as a customer, and potentially others as a result of this review. I know i will not refer my family or friends based on this experience.

Polar installed a new high-​efficiency furnace (95%, two-​stage, variable speed), a/​c (16 SEER) & air cleaner in my home on 03.09.2013. Jerry initially came out earlier in the week and quoted me for the new equipment & install. Jerry did a thorough inspection when he came out & provided me w/​several options & the most advantageous system to receive the rebates from ComEd, Nicor & the Federal Govt. After I decided on the equipment I wanted, Kasia from their main office contacted me to go over all of the paperwork & install availability. The two installers (Jason & Tony) arrived early on the install date, were friendy & explained exactly what they were going to do and approximately how long the install would take. The install was pretty involved since my existing furnace was an 80% efficiency & because I upgraded to a 95% efficiency furnace, new PVC pipe had to be installed for the exhaust. Also because I had an air cleaner installed, new metal work had to be completed as well. The installers arrive @ 8:40AM & were out the door @ 5:00PM. When the installers were completed, they walked me through how to operate the new system, made sure everything was working & cleaned up their work area. When they left, you could not even tell anyone had been in my home! I cannot be any happier with my decision to have given my business to Polar. Their entire team (from Jerry to Kasia to Jason & Tony) was outstanding!!! Way to go Polar! It’s so nice to find a reputable company with fantastic customer service who employes outstanding employees! Bravo to your entire team!!!

I am surprised by the negative review. I have been using Polar for several years, after trying a few different companies. I have to say, these guys are great. Any issues are addressed on the first call, and most importantly, I trust them. I would highly recommend Polar.

I owned an HVAC company for years. If you leave your guys on their own they will cut corners. Likely not the company. I would call them. $ 208 for the ignitor is a standard price. You need to be a contractor to buy at a supply house but you can likely order online. It’s two screws just make sure you are careful, the filaments are fragile and cannot be returned.

I bought Polar Heating & Air Conditioning service from Groupon for $ 39. The guy spent about 1 hours cleaning the unit. The unit was hard to get to as its in a very tight space. He cleaning inside the burner and believe did a good job. He wore booties so kept my carpet clean. I appreciated that. He was polite and was all about the job.
I had a couple of questions about duct cleaning and he answered them. I believe I also called them later for a duct cleaning and there was this greek guy who showed up who was meticulous about his job and I was very happy with his service. I just do not give 5 stars out as easily as I have seen but I think this company deserves a 4 star.

I bought Polar Heating & Air Conditioning service from Groupon for $ 39. Furnace Cleaning waste of money. Only thing technician did was dust cleaning. I could do that myself in less than 15 minutes without spending $ 39. Technician was a nice guy but refused to answer my question when I asked him how to change ignition filament for which he has quoted me $ 208. I will not recommend there service as its not worth the money you spend.
