History

Established in 1976.

Orland Square Mall opened in 1976; originally developed by Homart Development Company, it was eventually acquired by Simon Property Group. Orland Square underwent a major renovation in 1995, in an effort to keep its luxury image. 2012 the mall is undergoing another major interior and exterior renovation. This will entail new amenities, new tenants and a new shopping experience for our shoppers.

Look for new stores to open including Dave & Busters opening Summer 2012, Fox head, Brighton Collectibles, Francesca’s Collection and more!

Ok here is how it goes not trying to sound mean etc but I’m not sure where these people are coming from the sucm of earth at night very shady .It was never like this I don’t feel safe at this mall change the name to ford city !

I’ve visited several Schoops restaurants and love the burgers, but this location fails miserably.

This is a pretty average mall. There’s a good mix of stores. There’s your standard department anchor stores, things like Sephora and Willams Sonoma and Build-​a-​Bear. There’s all the typical clothes shops like Hot Topic, Pink, and H&M. There’s a food court that includes Taco Bell and Panda express, stalls like Fannie May and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. There’s sit down dining options like The Cheesecake Factory, and tons more restaurants located near to the mall. There’s a play area for the kids. My favorite stop is an animé store that sells DVDs and plushies and other fun stuff.
The mall isn’t what it used to be, it isn’t as nice. It’s clean enough but the clientele has definitely changed. It’s still one of the nicer malls in the neighborhood, and it’s to be expected that a mall is filled with irritating teenagers and mothers.
Security seems to have been beefed up a bit, so I think that’s a good thing. Previously, they were security guards on segways who looked more like Paul Blart than an actual security guard. But, this most recent time they were decked out like policemen on foot, and they were definitely more intimidating. I suppose that goes hand in hand with the changing crowd.
At the end of the day, it’s a mall. A fairly clean, safe mall.

Shortly after leaving the mall on my final visit, a woman was robbed at gun point in the parking lot. Avoid being robbed at gun point by not shopping here.

Chicago Ridge, IL
It’s one of the more fun, upscale malls I’ve been to. Having a second level is a big plus! It adds to the fun of exploring. Plus, they have a ton of various stores inside along with small sellers in the corridors. Their food court is ok but they could use a few more vendors. It seems like they only have a few relative to the size of the mall. But they do have an entrance to the Cheesecake Factory from the mall, so I guess that helps. Their food court seating is a step above others. Very trendy and comfortable. There is plenty of tables and comfy seating along with some high chaired seating along countertops lining the sides of the area. It’s a great place to eat and people-​watch if you enjoy doing so.

It’s a mall. It is crowded on the weekends and full of annoying teenagers and people. Also, a lot of people come to Orland from other suburbs as it is one of the nicer to nicest malls in the area.
Nothing really good to say, but nothing too negative either… At least the Santa they had for 2015 was great.

This use to be a fantastic mall however the management of the mall has gone downhill fast. Yesterday December 22nd the main bathrooms were completely closed for hours forcing all females and males to use the family bathrooms (which have not been maintained in a year except placing trash bags over the toilets that don’t work.)
They have a few nursing rooms for nursing mothers. However they are always occupied by mall workers taking naps. I have contacted the Simon management company several times about a bad experience I had here, but no one ever responds.
I agree that this is the beginning of the downfall of the mall. When the building is not maintained and customer service is non existent the good shoppers stop going there and it becomes a slum or hang out for those with no money and nothing to do.

I like this mall a lot of people come here especially on the weekends. Its also surrounded by many other businesses such as dave n busters, toy r us, and etc. The food court could expand a it more, but considering all the options outside of the mall it makes sense for it to not have much in the food court.

I like this mall. It’s large and it has lots of space. Orland Square Mall is in the perfect location for shoppers in the Southern suburbs!
There are a lot of places to shop and dine in. Also, there is a carousel for the kids to ride on, but you have to pay for tickets to ride the carousel. Some places to dine in are Baskin’ Robbins, Schoop’s Hamburgers, Starbucks, and others that will be too long to name. Some shopping places are Macy’s, J.C.Penney’s, Victoria’s Secret, and others that will be longer for my review.
The service is pretty good. There are nice and friendly staff here. They help you out when you need it. One time, I had to give back an item, and the workers at the mall helped me out with what I wanted to take back to the store at the mall.
The food is pretty good. I try a variety of places in this mall, and they have good flavor and good taste. They might be your regular places to eat at a mall, but some of these restaurants are some of my favorites in my neighborhood. That’s why I come back here.
All in all, pretty good mall. The food served from the restaurants at the mall and the overall service was good. I will be coming back here.

Orland Park, IL
Neat two-​level mall on the far southwest side of the Chicagoland area. Anchors are Macy’s, Sears, JC Penney, and Carson’s. The mall ownership has been reinvesting money in this facility and it is nice and up-​to-​date. A couple stores relocate into or out each year, giving it a nice updated feel. Recently LUSH arrived and you can tell by the wonderful smells on the second floor by Macy’s.
The mall opens early for walkers… around 7:30 every morning. This is a nice benefit for the neighborhood as winter walking is always chancy. Sales tax revenues generated by the mall really make Orland Park a stable village… so much so that Orland Park trustees usually refund all or a portion of Orland’s tax share of Cook County back to residents.
Inside the mall, Schoop’s, The Cheesecake Factory, and a number of small eateries in the food court provide a variety of places to munch. Security, which in malls around the area has been in the news lately, is done very well in Orland Park… both in the mall and outside in the parking lot. The whole family will feel safe here. Come on out and give it a try.

I am writing this review for what I use the Orland Sguare mall for, in the order i use it: Not what Orland Square was intended for:
1) Winter walking
2) Shoops
3) The Cheesecake factory
4) Zoup
5) Need to go to one of the anchors
I don’t spend much cash on the stores here unless it is an anchor or I need something specific or I wan’t to go to one of dining establishments listed above.
I use it mainly for walking in the winter and that is all. It is approximately one mile for an entire spin around the whole central interior. Next time I am going to walk the perimeter of all of the anchors and the little exit hallways also to see what that comes out to!

I was pleasantly surprised with this mall when I dropped in for a quick look-​around.
I have been here maybe once or twice in the past and was never impressed, so I wasn’t sure what to expect this time around.
After reading all the negative reviews for Chicago Ridge Mall, I was so happy to see a clean, decent selection of stores to shop at in Orland Square Mall. I needed to kill some time while my husband was completing a job in Chicago Ridge, and I am so glad to have chosen this mall over the surrounding ones in nearby towns.
Even though there aren’t that many higher end stores, it was great to see an H&M, Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, and a couple shoe stores. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with Forever21 — they have a decent sized store space, but not the greatest selection of apparel & the layout of the store was quite chaotic.
Regardless, I was able to find a few good sale items, and though I am not in a hurry to return to this mall, I’m glad to know I wouldn’t mind coming back.

Orland Square Mall is like Madonna. It reinvents itself every few years. Having grown up in Orland, and now that I don’t live too far away, I’ve seen them all. Some good. Some bad. Some just plain wrong. Who else remembers the giant orange carpet ramp we used to run down as kids?
But overall, the offerings have remained pretty consistent. The mall is pretty middle-​of-​the-​road. Not the highest end, but the stores are definitely not ghetto. You’ve got your Gaps, Banana Republics, an Apple Store, etc. The high end designers don’t live here, but that’s okay. They can stay in Oak Brook and Northbrook where they belong. This is the upper-​middle class area and we want our stores to match.
Parking is usually not a problem, and it never feels too crowded so you can’t move around. It’s clean, it’s bright, and has a nice food court where you can grab a bite and relax for a bit.
In the early 2000s, the mall went through a period where there seemed to be ads upon ads everywhere. Giant billboards, stickers on escalators, signs above the fountain. Around that time the clientele seemed to go downhill a bit too, and the whole place felt dirty and scummy.
I’m happy to report that that’s diminished in recent years, and the mall is going through a renaissance; taking it back to the way it was in the 90s. Nice, clean and semi-​upscale.
Now if only Marshall Fields made a comeback too.

As a kid, this was considered the «fancy mall,» compared to other frequently visited malls such as Chicago Ridge, Ford City, and North Riverside.
It still is the best of the bunch, from a retail standpoint. Major anchors include Sears, Carson’s, Penny’s, and Macy’s. The two level mall is filled with most every mid-​market chain store out there, with a few higher-​end stores (Sephora, Pottery Barn, Williams-​Sonoma, etc.) and small boutique type stores to round it all out.
The mall has also been kept up architecturally, not perpetually stuck with a neon 80’s motif. They recently completed an expansion project in their food court, alleviating the old crowded seating area. The food court tenants are rather limited in variety, although you can head over to the in the mall Cheesecake Factory if you are looking for something a bit more upscale.
All told, this is still my favorite mall to kill an afternoon and empty my wallet at!

No need to go to Chicago, this mall has everything you need (unless you are looking for the higher end brands). Besides the fact that it looks old, you can find your typical Gap, Coach, Sephora, BCBG, etc. I usually go to this mall when I’m too lazy to drive all the way to Woodfield in Schaumburg or Chicago.
If they could just revamp themselves when it came to the mall’s dated look, I think they would do way better. Empty storefronts are a sign that a mall is struggling and there were a few when I came there last.

I love Orland Square Mall! Unlike other malls, this one really caters everyone. The stores are really clean and the mall is so worth stopping by. The fact that they do it up for the holidays is special also, and you don’t see that many teen kids in this mall, that I can appreciate. Not saying teens shouldn’t be in malls, no thats not what I meant. I think I meant that most other malls will have loud kids acting like teens but this one seems to be very subtle and not so much noise.
Love the fact that Macy’s is connected because this is the store I truly love. Although not near me, I don’t mind traveling the extra 20 miles to get here, thats how much I like this mall. And the ample parking is wonderful, the Cheesecake Factory makes me smile, and the stores, oh those wonderful stores.
I came in the 2nd week of December, and I have to admit that it was not as full as I had expected. Which of course for me is a good thing. Many of the other malls are super crowded and you always have to worry about pick pockets, but here you will see a police officer on a cycle just minding his business. Not sure if thats a good thing but hey the presence of an officer always makes me smile because you know that people will not likely act like a fools when there is an officer aboard.
