These guys understand the very definition of good customer service!
I had a tire with an outer corner worn thin that i wanted to get balanced. 85%+ of the tire was fine. Yes, it is not absolutely safe to use, but on a commute car that rarely sees bad weather, it’s very reasonably safe. I keep an eye on the tire condition as well.
I went to America’s tire, Big O, Pep Boys, and others. Nobody would help me balance it b/​c of liability reasons. Everybody wanted to sell me a set of new tires. I told the big box guys to go pound sand (Why would i want to put a $ 500 set of tires on a $ 50 car??)
I call up Orinda Tires and Wheels in the back of the Orinda 76 station. Ivan stepped to the plate and helped me out when nobody else would. There was zero wait time to get onto the lift and 15 minutes and $ 15 later, my tire/​wheel was balanced without a hitch!
Just got back from a 1k mi trip to San Diego — no problems whatsoever.

JJ is as good as it gets. I found him through Unilocal after my dealership refused to order me a new tire for my slashed studded snow tire. I was told they were illegal (They are legal in CA from November through May) and they did not deal with any companies who sold my tires. I pulled into JJ’s He was friendly and helpful. He looked into the legality of the tire and found a company he had not previously done business with and ordered my tire. I would definitely use him again and recommend him highly

Being new to the area, I checked Unilocal to find a local tire store. I was pretty surprised to find one right in my new town with raving reviews about JJ and his customer service, so I took my Tesla in to have him look at the tread wear. After taking a careful look, he surprised me again by not trying to sell me a new set of tires but instead informed me that I probably had at least another 7,500 miles of wear left. He recommended I bring the car back after 7,500 miles and he’d take another look. The tires ended up wearing much longer than either of us expected. I took the car into him 2 or 3 more times after 7,500 miles each time and every time he recommended that I hold off a while longer. He rotated the tires each time for a nominal fee. I think he even rotated them once at no charge. When my wife’s 4Runner started having low pressure issues with one of the tires, we took it into JJ and he fixed it on the spot (had a screw in the tread) for a very reasonable price. I finally did have JJ replace the tires on the Tesla today. His out-​the-​door price was significantly lower than I could find anywhere else for the same tires. I have to say — JJ is a super customer-​focused and honest businessman! I’m very glad I found him in our new town and I enthusiastically recommend him to anyone in the Orinda area!

I received excellent and friendly service from JJ this morning and am very happy I discovered Orinda Tires & Wheels through Unilocal.My new tires were promptly balanced and installed for a reasonable price while I did a quick workout running up and down the beautiful hills of Orinda. I will definitely be back for any future tire or wheel needs.

Very professional, friendly and the best prices on tires. It took them less than 30 minutes to put four new tires on my car. I would highly recommend them.

Have been coming to JJ for about a year since Wheelworks’ Walnut Creek location went to pot. He’s sold me tires, he’s rotated tires, he’s repaired flats for my wife and me. He owns the place so he takes real pride in the work and value proposition. He’s fast, transparent, his work is A+, and his prices can’t be beaten. A true gentleman In an industry riddled with hucksters.

This shop is about as good as it gets when it comes to anything auto-​related. JJ is honest, helpful and extremely friendly. We live only one minute away from the shop, but have never used his service until earlier this year. I have run-​flat tires and one of the tires kept running low. JJ took a quick look at it for me, turns out there was a screw in the tire. He patched it, filled it up with air, all under $ 30 minutes, and charged me only $ 15. If I took the car to the dealership, which we have always done in the past (I know, we are not very smart people), they would have insisted that we change out the tire and I’d be looking at at least $ 200.
JJ has also put air in the tires for me free of charge and he checks the pressure on all four tires while he does it. While I am fully capable of doing all of that myself, I still appreciate it very much. You just don’t see this kind of service anymore. We are very lucky to have him in Orinda.

I went on
to find the right tires for my car. I called the number for the shop and the owner picked up. He said that he would give me $ 40 off the tirerack price including installation! Done! This was a no brainer since this shop was only a mile away from my home. They were able to get the tires in the next day and install them quickly. They also have a new machine that won’t scratch your wheels. 5 stars, will definitely use them in the future again.

We had a wonderful experience with JJ at Orinda Tires. As a mom of three kids, the idea of leaving my minivan in WC for 3 – 4 hours while they changed my tires was daunting. JJ not only met my price but performed the 4 tire change and balancing within an hour. I was pleasantly shocked and will entrust any future tire issues to JJ and his team.

Awesome place, awesome people! Got the tires on my new impala for only $ 300, which is actually pretty cheap compared to most places! The owner and his mechanic are also very nice and they know what they are doing! They also did it in an hour, which was awesome for my schedule! Overall, good experience!

JJ came to my house in Lafayette, took off a flat tire and returned 20 mins later with a patched one! $ 30. The whole transaction, from my discovery of the flat to being back on the road was a matter of just a few hours.
Unparalleled level of service. We are never going any place else!

If you have a flat tire after 6pm (open til 7:30pm) this is the place to go! They found the nail, plugged it and inflated all other tires to proper PSI… whole process took about 5 minutes and was very reasonably priced.

JJ showed me incredible customer service. I took my car in originally to get my front alignment fixed and he noticed my tires needed to be replaced– something my 20 year old self knows little to nothing about. I am very impressed by how efficient and helpful he was. Great guy to work with and I highly recommend him and Orinda Tires.

I’ve come to Orinda Tires for a couple of tire rotations (no appointment) and for a mysterious leak that JJ tested on the spot. Turns out my wheel was cracked. He threw on my spare and had the wheel repaired within 2 days. Rather than try to sell me 4 brand new tires at that time, he sold me a used one for $ 35 that matched the others in terms of wear and told me it would get me through another 5,000 or so miles. That was a few months ago.
I went back for a full set yesterday. JJ sold me a reliable set for my Subaru for less than what I usually pay at Wheel Works. I don’t know much about tires, so I trusted him based on my past experiences and reasonable prices with him. I came in at 11:30 to inquire about the tires, he ordered them before I left and called me when they arrived. I went back at 3:30 and my car was ready in about ½ hr. My daughter and I had just finished our coffee & pastries when he called! I was used to dropping my car off for a couple of hours at Wheel Works.
JJ is very nice, helpful and efficient. His shop is clean and in a great location — you can get a coffee, have lunch, run to CVS or go to the toy shop (a plus when I have to bring my daughter) while you wait. We are a one car household, so I appreciate JJ’s efficiency. I’ll definitely be back for my next rotation and will be recommending his shop to all my friends!

Went to Orinda Tires & Wheels when I picked up a nail in my tire. JJ was extremely helpful, quick, and gave me a great price. He helped repair my tire so I didn’t even need to replace it. Definitely would come back!!!

JJ is great! My car is driving so much better with my new set of tires. JJ walked me through a few different tire options and recommend ones that were less expensive than what I was considering. Changed my tires in less than an hour and checked my brake pads for free (told me I didn’t need new ones despite what the dealership told me). Highly recommend.

I stopped to put air in a tire that was both low and in need of replacement. I expected to use the air compressor at the 76 station and was digging for quarters to turn the machine on when JJ appeared with a compressor hose in hand and offered to put air in the tire for me.
He noticed the tires were ready for replacement as well, checked that he had the tires in stock and quoted me a fair price to have new tires put on in 35 minutes.
I found JJ knowledgeable, trustworthy, friendly, and enjoyable to work with.
In summary, excellent experience and better service and prices than other tire shops in Orinda have offered.

JJ is a super cool guy that is ready to give you a great deal on tires. Does quick and accurate work.
Also has an uncle in Oakland with an assignment rack. Super good deal.

I had a very good experience with Orinda Tire & Wheel. JJ was able to get me a better deal than the online source I typically use. I even went back for brakes.
It’s nice to walk around the village while the car’s being serviced. Friendly and fast.

So I’ve been in search of a «new tire» for my car… Unbeknownst to me there we a nail inside. Not only was orinda tires and wheels able to save me tons of money stress and time by fixing my tire but they were open late (after 5) which was huge for me considering I’m not off work until 5. Thank you so much JJ I will definitely see u when its time for tire rotation or replacement
