History

Established in 2011.

The Mazuma concept actually began in the UK about 8 years ago. It all started when a few accountants realized that small business accounting services were way too expensive and complicated for most small business owners.

Billing by the hour, sitting down for boring meetings, trying to translate complicated tax jargon… these were all plaguing small business owners, until Mazuma. Finally, a professional accounting firm that made things simple and affordable!

Recognizing the revolution that was happening overseas, Ben and Greg felt the need was just as great here in the United States. And so, after meeting with Sophie and Lucy, owners in the UK, they formed Mazuma USA.

The response from small business owners has been very favorable since opening the doors in the spring of 2011. «Where have you been all my life?» has been a common response from the business owner weary from doing the books themselves or searching for an accounting services that made sense.

Meet the Business Owner

Ben S.

Business Owner

Ben is committed to simple and affordable accounting and tax solutions for small business owners. He was born and bread in the traditional accounting industry. Taking the typical educational track towards his CPA license, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree from BYI-​Idaho and a Master’s degree from the University of Washington.

After working for a regional accounting firm in Seattle, WA for a short while, Ben moved to Utah and went to work for Larson & Co. At Larson Ben spent most of his time auditing and serving small to medium sized businesses.

His natural curiosity to figure out what makes small businesses succeed is what drew his ambitious response to the concept of Mazuma. He sees Mazuma as not just a way to provide a living for his family, but a way to make all small businesses more successful. His experience in the audit world has enabled him to solve many problems that small businesses face today.

Ben is married and has four children, and lives in Salem.
