O’brien’s Tree Service

Everything started out ok, but the service was definitely not what I was expecting. I worked with Chris, and he was a nice enough guy during the estimation process. To be fair, I asked for expedited service and they came within a week of our discussion to do the work, which was great.
I left the house one day at 9am, and when I returned at 130pm it was obvious the team had come and gone. However, the problem was that they had not done the job we had agreed to. Plus, they also left my gates wide open, and there was one of my trashcans sitting in the middle of my walkway: I thought this was odd, but I simply shrugged it off.
I called Chris to advise that the job had not been completed, and he was prompt in returning to my property to review the issues. He agreed that the team had not done what we agreed to, and called to have the team come back out. I spent time with Chris specifically going over what my expectations were, so as to ensure another miss would not happen.
The team had come back and left pretty quickly, as I was working remote I could see through the window that they were working on the items identified to Chris. After my calls were done for the day, I went out to inspect the work. Again I saw that they missed an area we discussed.
Chris was nice enough to come back out to address my concerns. However, this time he noted that the area they missed was an area that he agreed to do for free, and since they «forgot all about it» that he couldn’t send someone back out to take care of «free» work.
So despite the first miss, and the second round of explaining where the misses were, since they «forgot» to do the one area that he said he would do for free I was out of luck. He did explain that it wouldn’t be difficult for me to to cut down the branches myself, to which I explained if I wanted to do this myself, I wouldn’t have sought to pay someone to handle it.
Definitely was expecting a bit more from my first time use of this service, but I guess it is simply live and learn. If a client calls you to explain that your team didn’t get it right the first time, you should ensure the second time the team gets it right. Someone should have checked with me before the team left the site to ensure I was satisfied with the work.
Will not be using again, purely for the lack of customer service and quality control.

O’Briens were courteous, prompt, efficient and did a great job. I’d certainly use them again! Very pleased

I’d give them 10 stars if I could based on my experience today. We got 8″ of heavy snow this morning and a huge tree limb fell on my kitchen, breaking through the roof and skylight. I got their name from a friend and by the end of the day the tree limb and branches were gone and a tarp covered the opening. Patrick was quick to respond, very gracious and the price was very fair – especially since it was emergency work. It was a pleasure to do business with them and I look forward to their return to remove the rest of the tree.

I have used O’Briens a number of times and have always been satisfied with their service. Sean and his son Patrick are real gentlemen and have some good workers as well. They are affordable, efficient and extremely pleasant.

These guys are very trustworthy! Used them several times at Chestnut Hill homes. Great work, great price.

I’ve hired O’Brien family tree service on two separate occasions:
1. They are very prompt, accessible, and friendly at all levels
2. Their estimates beat competitors by at least 10%
3. The timeliness and thoroughness of their work is impeccable
Highly recommend.

We had a large old maple in front of our house that was in pretty bad shape and needed to be removed. This tree was huge with many large limbs hanging over our house, and we were worried about how the removal would go. We received many estimates for the job, and we decided on O’Briens because they were very reasonable, prompt, and very friendly. Sean O’brien and his crew did an excellent job, with absolutely no damage to any of our property (even preserving our flower bed several feet from the tree!) They cleaned up everything perfectly and quickly. We are so happy we went with these guys and would highly recommend them to anyone.
