took my son for his 1^st dental appt– he was about 3. He was anxious and nervous and was a bit difficult. But literally after no more than 30 seconds of trying to examine my child and get him to open his mouth, the Dr. placed his tools down in a huff and told me he was going to anesthetize my child if he wasn’t going to be compliant. And went on to tell me that it was more than likely my fault for amping my child up and setting him up to dislike the dentist. What?! My fault? Um sorry, I acted the the dentist was better than Disneyland to my child so that there would be no issues. I think maybe that this 3 year clearly felt you didn’t like children. I think a pediatric dentist should actually feel empathetic to a child’s fear, not make it worse. Funny, the next dentist we saw was fantastic, caring and seemed to actually like kids and my son was seen and examined with no issue.
