First Niagara Bank

I recently stopped by to pay off in full a secondary mortgage. I don’t quite understand what occurred. For reasons I don’t recall the secondary was in my husbands name only. Primary mortgage was paid off ages ago. I walk in with cash and the statement balance that comes every month and after a freaking long wait I am told that I can’t pay this off. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??? I am giving money, not extracting it.
I calm down and realize that I had the foresight to predeal with this. Had husband call and MAKE SURE that I can pay off this loan if he is not with me. Had to call the manager that hubby spoke to because teller did not want to give out secret info — balance changed by two dollars.
Really??? This is not any sort of HIPA act. I have the necessary paperwork to corroborate payments and recent activity. I guess at this point I am begging that if someone comes in to pay a loan off, please just let them. Especially anything belonging to me.
