Cornette Property Management

These folks know what they are doing. They know renter and homeowner laws, regulations, and courtesies. As a tenant, maintenance personnel has always been prompt and responsive. They conduct a yearly home inspection (as per Sacramento County regulations), which assures me as a renter that the condition of the home is noted and the property is maintained.
As a homeowner who rents out a home to tenants, I would use them in a heartbeat as a property manager for the same reason as noted above.

I have been with Cornette management now for a year, and I have to tell you when you own property out of the area it’s a blessing to have a company that has your back. Nancy D. in the maintenance department is a dream… when there is a problem, she is right there helping you resolve the issue as quick as possible, and trying to make sure the repair doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and for that I’m truly grateful. When I call with a question the staff is always pleasant and also resolves the issue. I would recommend Cornette for a Property management company.

I’m reviewing as a first time landlord and I have to say, I’ve loved working with Cornette so far. They communicate well, whether it be over the phone or email. Ever since I let them handle my property, I really just sit back and relax. They really do have a great team.

As a property owner I find Cornette Properties very responsive. They keep me well informed. Very prompt in making requested improvements. Calls me before making costly repairs. Everytime I call them they are friendly and responsive.

Whoa!!! I was in the process TODAY of applying for a duplex apartment with these folks! Glad, glad, happy and grateful for UnilocalERS! I won’t waste my time or $$$. Good looking out!

Not sure what all the negativity is about. this property management company was super friendly and helpful! I signed the lease to my first home today! Thanks to all the amazing staff!

Angela, I wonder if Gloria was the person I spoke with just a moment ago… Very impolite, rude, and coarse. I simply call the number given in the ad, and was cut off before I could complete my sentence and/​or ask my questions, and told I need to research the website, get the information there and c/​b (twice)…
I did as instructed, called back, and again, before I could get out the questions I wanted to ask, I was cut-​off and rudely told, the property was still occupied, would not be available for information or showing until after 15^th of November, and they were only accepting names and numbers for c/​b… I asked could she could at least tell me if the apt is upstairs or down? She reluctantly said «up.»
Mind you, this is the same property mgmt co., 1 week ago, I was suppose to meet someone at another gated community, and they never showed up…
If the maintenance and upkeep is anything like the customer service, I’m thankful to by-​pass this company with their rudeness and lack in social/​business behavior.

This company is a JOKE… between their lack of follow up, inability to account for documents turned into their office and overall poor customer service I would suggest you look for housing anywhere but through Cornette… I was a tenant for over a year with them and when I did have situations come up that required their response, it was always like pulling teeth to get them to call me back or respond to my inquires/​concerns.
Luckily the property owner I rented from was pretty reasonable, but working with Cornette as the middle man was a nightmare.
They just recently started accepting rent payments online… its 2015, I have no idea why it took you this long to get a payment processor and a website setup to accept rent payments… but it does go right inline with how they run their company. They do the bare minimum and wait till the last minute to get things done… don’t expect a quick turnaround on any issue you bring to them.
I recently purchased a home, so I no longer rent from Cornette, but in my 8+ years renting from apartment communities, property management companies and private homeowners I can say with 100% certainty that this company is by far the worse experience I have had.
Also, what kind of property management company has office hours like a damn financial institution? Mon-​Fri 8 – 5 closed between 12 – 1 for lunch??? come one… your customer (aka renters) has to make time to accommodate your schedule when it should be the other way around.

Terrible customer service. First, let me say that every time I talked to anybody on the phone, there was no energy, no enthusiasm, and a general lack of «nice-​ness» from the staff. Nothing rude (at this point), but definitely not outstanding.
My husband and I really liked one of their properties while viewing it at a showing. We tried to turn an application in there on the spot, and the representative told us we couldn’t, it had to be turned in to the office. But our showing went after 5:00, so the office was closed for the day. So I went the very next day, right at 8:00 when the office opened to turn our application in. I was there for only a few minutes, but the entire time the girl at the desk was on the phone helping somebody else while trying to also help me in person. She told me that she couldn’t accept applications to the property we were interested in anymore. Seriously? So the entire showing the day before was a waste of time, because if what the representative said was true, no applications could have been turned in between the showing and when I arrived in the office.
The girl on the phone did not offer me a list of other available properties. I know it’s not her fault, but she could have had better costumer service to communicate why that was the case, or explain the process better.
The property we viewed was a gated community. At the beginning of the showing we were told by the representative to wait just inside the gate, and he would come lead us to the specific property at 4:45. By 5:00 we were still waiting for him to come get us, along with others who were also waiting to view the property. We looked outside, and the representative was gone. So we were all there wondering what to do. Where did he go? We eventually found him. inside the property. So not only did we wait around for him (because he TOLD us to), but we also had to find him and the property on our own. (this gated community was not clearly laid out as some, so it was a little confusing to find our way around).
I tried to call and complain to the manager about their general lack of customer service skills, and the negative impression they gave to a brand new customer like me, but she was unavailable and couldn’t come to the phone at that time. I guess we lucked out, because we definitely will not consider any of their other properties, due to their overall lack of communication and customer service.

When you look at this and think «the person writing this review was probably a crappy tenant» think again. We were excellent renters and we had one incident toward the end of our stay where Gloria called me and was incredibly rude and told me that in june 2014 I denied access to a city official to follow up on a permit… not the case at all. She was so nasty to me I couldn’t believe it. I had an additional encounter with her as well– after that I make sure that its clear that I don’t want her contacting me.
They are way over charging us for move out issues– i sent a formal dispute and Gloria responded by sending the letter back to us with had written rude notes all over it– very unprofessional.
Next step is I am requesting a formal response, something that can stand up in court and I’m restating my dispute along with taking them to small claims court. They are terrible people.

Absolute worst property management company I’ve ever dealt with! After living in my rental for4 years under their management, finally bought a house and moved out. I had contacted them several times during my tenancy with numerous problems, exposed tack strip, plumbing issues, etc and they NEVER ONCE inspected my property (unfortunately my actual landlord passed away from cancer and his estate hired the incompetent Cornette), when i moved out I left the house cleaner than when i moved in! Reality is, cornette advertised my rental a month before i was to move out, and they had never even set foot on the property in 4 years until 8 days after i moved out! They refused to return my $ 1850 deposit and sent a generic itemized list of why they were keeping it. Long story short, I got back less than $ 400 and that was after i had to threaten legal action after 3&½ weeks of getting the run around. Steer clear of these slumlords!

I don’t know why I didn’t listen to the reviews.
Before my girlfriend and I turned in our applications we made it clear she works and I resell items on eBay and have no paycheck stubs, but could furnish my eBay sales and bank statements… The lady said that’s fine enough. So we proceeded to pay the $ 60 application fee. We applied for three houses. It has been 3 weeks and only received 1 call saying our main choice has been rented. We called about the other 2, 2 weeks ago, and they said they’re still deciding. Horrible horrible communication. I feel they mislead us just for the application fee.

I couldn’t be more displeased with Cornette. I would avoid them if possible.
They approved us for a property and gave us 24 hours to decide when we hadn’t even seen the property.
We were finally able to get in and see the property before the 24hr time period. The property was definitely in need of repair and overhaul. The advertised move in date was Aug 8. We were later told that the tenant had last minute extended his stay pushing our move in date even further even though they had already approved us. Our new move in date was Aug 28^th. In addition we were told they wouldn’t be able to assess the property until they moved or what we could expect to be furnished. Yet we were still required to pay the deposit by the end of the 24hr timeframe.

I’ll preface this post with stating that I have worked in the Property Management industry for 9+ years. My expectations for customer service are really high.
When we rented our current home I fully expected an up hill battle with every service request or issue with the house, primarily because the of the Unilocal reviews. My wife and I actually discussed it and created a plan for dealing with communication and follow up. Since our move in date we have had several issues with the home. Every communication with Cornette has been professional and prompt. Specifically, Nancy has done an amazing job at facilitating communication between us and the owner. They have gone above and beyond to keep us happy and, with a new baby, it is greatly appreciated.

No doubt in my mind that the people at Cornette are the worst customer service «professionals» I have ever dealt with. I’ve rented from a dozen or more other companies through the years, they are by far the worst. If you don’t have to do business with them… DON’T!!!

We went through the same thing. We were the first one to apply and Credit, background, and everything came back fine. Waited a week and a half to get an update. Was told that all is good that we are just pending the owners approval. Got a voicemail saying that «the owner picked another applicant.». Like wow. ?.. they just took our $ 60 and wasted a credit report pull. I felt discriminated because they couldnt give us an exact reason why. The worst part was I had a friend call them to ask if the SAME property is still available just to see… sure enough, they said «the owner still havent made a decision so we can still take applications» wow again. .I feel like company is scamming possible renters by taking in applications to make money. I asked to get my paystubs, bank statements, drivers license copy, tax papers, and credit report back, but they refused to. Sarah told me that «it’s cornette property».BS!!! Legally, they have to give back the documents. These employees dont know basic tenants rights, especially professionalism. DON’T RENT FROM CORNETTE.

I am with Mikky on this one. When we lived addy one of their homes, it had mold behind the walls, had to stay in a hotel for about a month while they fixed the house. If I would not have fought these guys we would not have been reimbursed for the hotel, dining because we weren’t allowed back in the house until they were done with the restoration. Then the water heater overflowed, damaged alot of our things in the garage. Just so you all know (this all happened within the first month of living here). On top of all that, they were always rude.

My girlfriend & I have rented 2 places through Cornette Properties for about 3 ½ years. They’ve been more than understanding no matter what we were going through. Whether it was replacing our water heater or working with us to pay our rent, they always helped us out.
Unfortunately for us, we lost our place and most of our belongings to a house fire in January. It was absolutely devastating. It might be a little obvious to say, I’ve never dealt with a house fire before, and Cornette Properties & especially Nancy have been so friendly and supportive, during this crazy time. By the time I arrived home and discovered our tragedy, Cornette Properties contacted me regarding our pets who were inside the house. They got me connected to the animal hospital and with a lady named Carolyn, so we could pick them all up. The next day, (Saturday) Nancy spent the entire day with us, getting dirty while going through what was left of our house. Cornette and their staff have been absolutely wonderful & I highly recommend them to everybody.

Hopefully these reviews are read first before anyone else rents from these crooks.
My husband and I rented from Cornette for four years, and paid our rent almost two weeks early each and every month. One month they called my husband to say we were delinquent on our rent. After contending with them and producing evidence that we not only paid, but they had processed our payment, did they admit to loosing track of our payment «because we paid too early». Really?
During our tenancy we rarely had a maintenance call, though they acted like complete unprofessional fools whenever we did have a maintenance call.
I am now in the process of contesting their deductions from my security deposit. I have left several messages for Judy Cornette in follow up of the formal written contest they received via certified mail. It has been 22 days since their receipt of my written contest, and 6 days since my first phone call. Judy has yet to respond to any of my communication attempts. Cornette Property Management price gouges for cleaning service, and violates landlord tenant laws by not providing an itemized receipt for cleaning services, charging the tenant to make the property cleaner than it was at move-​in, and charging for normal wear and tear. No matter how clean you leave the property, they will unlawfully withhold an excessive amount of your security deposit.
By all means, avoid renting from Cornette Property Management.

Rude and Unprofessional
Searching for rentals in the Sacramento area. While scheduling an appointment to see a duplex, the lady at the management company is very rude and warns us to not be late because they are very busy and only have 10 minute windows for viewing the rentals.
We show up early and wait out front with other potential tenants.
The property looked pretty trashed, there were old tires and pallets piled in the backyard and you could see that the inside was dirty. We held out hope that they would have a good explanation.
20 minutes after our appointment window has ended, we are still waiting for someone from Cornette to show us the property. A car with 4 people in unprofessional clothing (attire for the club… or some kind of dancing) rolls up. The ladies explain that they forgot the keys and we need to be scheduled for another day. So much for the 10 minute window.
I feel bad for the owners of the property.
