My husband and kids and I have been going to the family swim on Fridays or Saturdays for a while. The cost is 5 times for $ 40, despite the number in your family (up to 8 I think). Since the pool is heated, there are no worries or distractions related to temperature for our 3 and 17 month old kids. Everyone is very nice (with the exception of the guy at the front desk, but it’s not required to interact with him anyway). It’s very laid back, and often a lot is on the honor system in terms of payment/​putting your coupon in the drop box and signing in. We love that we don’t have to put the kids in any sort of flotation devices and we can just hold them. No designated lifeguards are on duty, but staff is around if needed (typically doing lessons at the other end of the pool). A swim school operates there, but they do their own thing. Although the pool is mainly geared towards those with special needs (mental or physical), we’ve found it perfect for us. We go even though we have 2 pools at our condo complex.

This review is for RIO’s water aerobics classes. One word: fantastic! As someone with a mobility impairment, doing any kind of high impact exercise just isn’t feasible. I’ve seen the water aerobics classes in the Orange class catalog for years but never signed up so this year I decided just to go for it and I’m so glad I did. Roseli and Irene are fantastic teachers and you really get a workout! I always leave feeling invigorated and accomplished. I’ve been swimming since I was a little kid so being in the water still feels like home and it’s nice to be able to do exercises in the water I would never be able to do outside of the pool. I have trouble with stairs too but they have nice small steps with a railing on each side to get in and out of the pool that makes it super easy.
I bought a month’s worth of classes for $ 60 but RIO itself offers some other options like buying a book of 5 classes for $ 40, etc. so there’s something for everyone which is great. They have a coupon on their website for a free class too if you just want to try one too. They’re really great about that.
All of the ladies who attend are very nice and there’s a lot of regulars so it’s nice to see familiar faces every week. It’s been great to meet others from the Orange area too. Very happy I signed up for these.
