PTR Games

Recommended to me by the Geek Squad at the Best Buy in Yorba Linda to repair my old Nintendo Wii.
When I called PTR to inquire about the repair, the lady on the phone was very polite and gave me a possible diagnosis and a very reasonable quote. When I got there, the clerk gave me the same quote-​$ 40 to replace the lens. They also told me the other possibility could be the hard drive, but that would only be $ 55. Nintendo charges $ 75 plus shipping to mail the Wii to them and wait for 2 weeks to get it back! This was a no-​brainer.
They told me it should be ready the following day, but they would call to let me know when it was done. Turns out, they were finished within hours. It was the lens and they charged accordingly. Because of their long business hours, I was able to go back the same day to pick it up. The tech plugged it in to show me everything was working and I was out the door in minutes (after paying!).
I’m so grateful they were recommended to me and I’m happy to recommend them as well.

These guys were awesome! I took my wii in on Sunday morning for repair and only three hrs and $ 50 later it was good as new. Super friendly and very helpful. Thanks guys!

Would have got a 5 star but they forgot to give me one of my game that I bought. I know he probably thought he had given it but mistakenly didn’t put it on so I’ll just be giving a 4 star because they selections of games are really good.

They sold me 3 Pokemon games with dead batteries in a row. Other than that it was alright. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ ign

My son’s Xbox was completely broken, we spent an hour on the phone with Xbox support and could not get it to work. PTR games not only fixed the issue with the Xbox but gave us a really good deal. Thank you again.

Great local shop. Took my busted PS3 in. It would not power on. They were able to fix it for a resonable price and it was ready in 2 days. Would definitely recommend!

When I go into a retro video game store, I want to relive the memories of my childhood and possibly make new memories that will continue to stay with me. That being said, much of the reason people don’t go back to playing video games is because there tends to be price charting that makes it an expensive hobby to enjoy.
This is not one of those stores. From intelligent staff, to large selections, you’ll find anything and everything you’re looking for. I was rummaging through for about an hour to look through as much as I could, and the only reason I stopped was because I ran out of money.
I can talk about how much I love this store for another three paragraphs, and even though they had a handful of games that I thought were expensive, it doesn’t compare to the pile of games I bought at a great price.
Will definitely be coming back the chance I get.

XBox 360 fixed in less than 24h! My daughter and husband had tears in their eyes when the ‘Red Ring of Death’ suddenly appeared — PTR saved us from having to buy a new gaming console 6 months away from Christmas — THANK YOU PTR! Can’t beat the price or service with a smile!!! We were referred from a friend and we’d totally refer our friends…

I went in a few weeks ago to see if ptr had any good deals for the wii u i had just bought the wife. I had been here before to get a 360 repaired and some parts for my ps3 had always had a great experience until this last time. After looking around i decided to get the new super mario bros and new luigi bros for the wii u. they were both marked as being on sale. This is where the issues began the cashier stated thats weird these shouldn’t be on sale even though the 4 boxes behind the case i got had the same sale stickers after 2 seconds of «looking» they magically were out of stock! BUT they would sell me at a great deal a used copy for the same price as the brand new copy! Wow! C’mon man really? Needless to say i walked out and won’t be back. I really used to like this place but after such shady practices i can’t bring myself to go back.

I love this place! I brought in my Xbox 360 which had three red rings, the staff was very helpful and they informed me that this issue is very common. I spoke to Caleb and he talked to me in depth about the issue and reassured me that I will get my console back ASAP. Another one of the employees named John called me a few hours later (wow!!!) and told me my console was complete. He was very kind and I headed back over since I do not live too far. I walked in and John handed me back my console and explained to me how to prevent it from getting the same issue. He then offered to test out the console so I can see it’s 100% and it was! I went home and played it for hours without any issue. (Not to mention the console was super clean) I will come back and become a regular customer, these guys rock!

I have been here a few before and they are really nice people. I guess you can say they are like a GameStop but with the added retro games that you wouldn’t find in any GameStop store nowadays.
They are all pretty knowledgable about everything from games that are coming out to knowing whether or not they will be able to fix your game. I came here some time back with a deeply scratched super smash bros for Wii U and was hoping that they would be able to clean and buffer it. But the guy behind the counter informed me that he could do it, but there was a guarantee that the game would lose some memory since the game was a blue-​Ray disc. It bummed me out that I had to buy a new one for my system.
Overall this store is a really cool place to visit for both retro and modern games.

They seem very honest and friendly and I came back for some controllers 2 years ago that still work! :) Awesome little place :)

This is the only video game store I go to these days.
I’ve had my ps3 repaired here. They have a nice selection and are reasonably priced. And the employees seem down to earth and quite knowledgeable about the games.

I have been there on a few occasions… the used games are a good price… but the used consoles are cheaper at GameStop. If you show them a lower price they will try to match if possible. I bought a used game and it had problems on my console; they traded it out without issues. This place is close to my house and I would go again.

Gamestop has the market on games, but if your looking for retro or repairs this is a nice spot to visit. They have all ranging from old school to new school. They offer repairs on systems and used items. Workers here are very nice and are for the most part helpful.
Now I understand they are in the business of making money, but their trade in prices are pretty bad. I had Contra for NES to trade in which they told me they sell for $ 29.99, and they were going to give me less than 10 bucks for it. This is nothing new in the trade in markets but jeeeezee I just felt like I was about to get game raped. I asked if they would trade Contra for a game that they were selling for $ 19.99 but they said they couldn’t do it.
Oh well, as I said they are their to make money and keep the place open. Just don’t expect to find the classics or hard to find games for cheap. Great place to visit if you want something right away instead of waiting for it to be shipped from ebay. CHEERS!!!

This review is a bit overdue, but I definitely want to shine some light on this place for any fellow video game enthusiasts out there.
I can’t say this place has the best selection of retro stuff nor the best prices among other places, but I think the personable staff as well as the friendlier trade-​in values make this place worth visiting. The gentleman I spoke with during my visit was really easy to talk to while I waited for him to value up my trade-​ins; I can’t tell how extensive his video game knowledge went, but he can definitely mingle about the more recent stuff.
In terms of trading in, I had brought quite a wide variety of better-​known titles as well as some really obscure ones. All in all, the value I got here was definitely the highest offer among the other 2 places I took my goods to; nowhere close to eBay prices, but roughly close to 50% of their online face value. With these places, you really can’t be all that pretentious coming in with your coveted «rare» games and expecting high trade-​in values; this place is a business, so they need to buy low and sell high to stay open. The great thing about this place is that they won’t low-​ball you enough to leave you feeling insulted.
Definitely will be back someday with more trade-​ins and to further peruse their bargain bins.

Amazing! Looked all over for the Mario Kart Wii U Bundle for my daughters and I to play. Best Buy, Gamestop, Walmart, and the rest were all out of stock. PTR had it. This was my first visit and these guys were very helpful and polite. Great selection of used and old games. Might have to buys Retron to play my old NES games.
I will definitely be back. No more Gamestop.

I dropped by on a whim to check and see what slightly older games they had. Turns out, they have quite an impressive stock of game from new to very old! I snagged a copy of Pokemon Fire Red, and was pretty pleased with the price and employees. I like that they’re smart and friendly, but not overbearing or anything like other game stores can be. Considering all the older items, it’s refreshing to have a store that’s well stocked and doesn’t make you feel like you’re being watched like an eagle.
They have an interesting points/​rewards system thingy. I can’t really explain it; not because I don’t understand it, but because I simply haven’t used it yet. You apparently essentially gather points with purchases like you might expect, with certain benefits at specific checkpoints. It’s pretty nifty, and hopefully I can give them a little more service soon.
Prices on older games run in the moderate range, seemingly. No better or worse than a ‘good’ deal on Amazon or Ebay (as another reviewer said). Now, THAT being said, you’re not worrying about shipping, and you have the item in front of you where you can see what you’re getting. This was the case with my GBA Fire Red, and I am very glad I got my copy through PTR. Basically, what PTR provides in terms of prices for games, is a good to decent deal compared to what you’d pay at a Gamestop or most other stores, but with an almost 100% guarantee that the games will be in fully working order and whatnot.
That was a bit long, but yeah, they’re a very good store, and I would recommend that you give them a look if you have any gaming needs that they can fill.

GameStop who? This independent business not only did an excellent job fixing my system but also had amazing customer service! They were very helpful and answered every question I had. If you want good prices, repairs, or even a few questions answered then I highly recommend PTR games. This is my new «Go To» place!
