Private Eyes Optometry

Dr Hsu really cares about my eyes and my well being. She is sincere and is on top of the latest technology. A couple or so years ago, Dr Hsu recommended CRT lens to me because, I was afraid of lasering my only eyes, yet tired of glasses and contacts. Best advice ever. She really worked with me patiently and sought other professionals when I had many hiccups with the lenses in the beginning. With my new sight, i could do more activities without hassel of breaking my glasses, scratching them or losing my contacts, carring eye drops, etc.
Her staff is very friendly and professional. Jose is the doctor when it comes to adjusting glasses.
I am really glad my boyfriend shared with me, who he visits for optometrist.

Dr Hsu refunded the visit money. Classy move by a good office that can be trusted. My opinion has definitely changed. Thanks Dr Hsu

My employer changed our insurance and now PE isn’t covered. I am devastated, plain and simple. When I called to beg them to take my new insurance, the gentleman in the phone couldn’t get me covered, but was nice enough to offer a referral to another good optometrist in the area. I highly doubt I will find an office as friendly or helpful as PE. It was a good three years! :(

Went in today with my husband for our annual eye exam. Upon entering the office we were greeted with such a friendly staff. Did not wait long before we were taken back for some routine test. Test were performed with the latest technology, which initially drew us to the office. Dr. Hsu warmly greeted me after finishing my test. During her evaluation she educated me about why and what she was doing without me even asking. She also gave me additional info regarding my 13 month old daughters vision. She is very personable, professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about her profession. She is very thorough, which I appreciate! Thank you for being such an amazing doctor. Office is very clean and offers a variety of frames. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Been going here since I was in high school and each visit every year has been pleasant. Let’s put it this way, whenever I get a checkup reminder I actually look forward to my appointment!
Dr. Hsu is so kind, patient, and I always feel very comfortable with her. No doubt about it, she knows what she’s doing! At the front desk, Sanna is always helpful & is always on point; she’ll take care of you!
Protip: After you get your eyes checked, get some chili cheese fries at PCH Hot Dogs nearby. Ohhhmgosh

This place is hands-​down the best at what theyy do. Took my girlfriend in for her glasses and theyy are extremely courteous. I loved their customer service and theyy were so helpful in taking us step by step the insurance proccess and choosing frames. 5 stars is not enough to Rate them. !

Went in for my annual Eye check at Private eyes optometry and as usual Sunna at the front desk took great care of me. Dr. DIzon is great very Professional, and personable. Then Jose the great salesman that he is gives you all the information you need to make great choices with your glasses. They also have a great selection to choose from. Private eyes Always makes me feel like family. Just another reason I like coming here.

Dr. Hsu is wonderful!!! She is very professional, her eye exams are comprehensive and she patiently explains everything she is doing. The office staff is very welcoming. I highly recommend Dr. Hsu and her Optometry practice.

Wow. Sadly, I’ve had glasses since 1^st grade so I’ve seen my share of optometrists. Dr Hsu is by far the most informative and patient doctor I have seen. She is amazingly thorough, does not rush you, accommodating, and kind! Her staff is competent and friendly which make a big difference. I couldn’t get childcare and she was fine with me bringing my toddler in for our short follow up appointment. So impressed by her professionalism (I’m hard to please) and will mostly definitely be back and recommend her to all.

I’ve never written a review but felt compelled to write this one. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was in 5^th grade (I’m now 31) and this is by far the best optometry place I’ve ever been to.
Dr. Dizon offers the most comprehensive exam. For example, every time I’ve tried new eye products such as contact lenses, she makes sure to check my eyes the next week to see how they’re faring. I’ve never had an optometrist do that before. Dr. Dizon truly cares about your eyes and takes time to educate you about them. She also respects your time and never makes you wait for an appointment.
If you’re looking for an optometrist, I highly recommend you try Dr. Dizon and her partner out!

I have been going to this optometry practice for three years now. Five stars — would recommend to friends and family — I found them thanks to Unilocal!
My first visit I saw Dr. Hsu, then while she was on maternity leave I saw Dr. Dizon, who I have seen in all subsequent visits, but both doctors are friendly, caring, and skilled with great credentials so I would be happy seeing either of them again next year.
When I come into the office, Sanna is always behind the desk. She remembers me and is always highly organized. They are highly responsive to email; this year it was not a problem to adjust my appointment to a later day only a week or two in advance via email. Their forms are easy and very comprehensive; while you fill out your forms or wait, there is water and tea for you in the little mini fridge and tiny candies on the desk. She always makes sure you know what is included in your visit or with your insurance; for instance if it’s time to dilate your eyes but it is not a good day to do so, you can schedule a separate appointment to do that part of the exam without having to pay a second co-​pay. (And this year they have another option, a new machine that takes a hi-​res scan of the back of your eye at multiple layers, that eliminates the need to dilate. It was worth the higher co-​pay IMO, but I hope in the future it becomes so common that the cost goes down or my insurance covers more of it.)
When I was having extreme dryness in my eyes during the first time I visited, Dr. Hsu gave me a regimen to prevent possible infections and wanted to see me again in a month to make sure it was working. That second visit required another appointment but it was included with my first exam at no extra charge because the doctors and staff here are so caring and really just want to keep tabs on your eye health!
Jose is the optician who helps you select frames and lenses and orders them and adjusts them to fit you. He is so friendly and always chats to me while I see him. I have been in a couple extra times to get sunglasses, lens replacements, etc, and he always makes sure I know what’s covered in my insurance and what things are under warranty. He’s helped me select the frames for both my eyeglasses and sunglasses, and I am constantly getting complemented on them, so he has great taste!
I would say the downside to this practice is in frames selection. They carry a limited number of brands and they tend to be higher end. I went in looking for something affordable and really the lowest cost brand I have found here is Ray-​Ban. If you are looking for a brand that is fully covered by your insurance, or just want a very large selection, you may have to get your prescription written down and go elsewhere. (Coscto?)
However, I will say that the brands they do stock are high quality with a wide range of styles both trendy and classic. Mostly the brands seem to be the ones made by Luxottica. I wish they stocked independent manufactures such as Fetch and Warby Parker, but the only indie brand is SALT. which has great design and is a CA based company, but is very pricey. If I had the money, I would buy SALT. from here, but I don’t, so next year I’ll be coming in with my own indie frames already in hand.
TL;DR: You can’t get better than this for staff and doctors. Be warned that they only carry pricey frame brands if you are on a budget.

Great staff. Fast and efficient. They help you pick out frames and offer their opinion. You can take your time and try on as many frames as you like. I love this place.

I love Dr. Hsu !! I’ve been coming here for about 5 years now and they are the best! I would not go anywhere else. They are always friendly and super patient even if you have a busy schedule. The doctor always tries to find the right products for your eyes and won’t stop until she does!

I’ve been semi blind since I was 16 but, it hasnt stopped me from reading in the dark or spend hours online pretending to be productive while oogling girly things. I’ve aIways had a great optometrist who looked out after me and made sure that I can keep my bad habits. A couple of years ago, my awesome eye doctor, Dr. Richard Gilkinson moved to Rancho Cucamonga and left me here in Anaheim :(It was one of the most tragic events of my life. I went in for my annual check up and instead of my caring eye doctor, I got an optometrist who told me that theres a possibility that I have eye cancer. She even said my eye color will soon change because of it. I freaked out! Then she gave me a contact prescription that was so uncomfortable and drying that when I called back to have it changed, the nice receptionist said I have to pay for another prescription. Yup that happened. So I moved on to Wal-​Mart because of their pricing and convenience. The doctor was nice, except he fitted my contacts wrong that I had this weird out of focus vision for almost a year in my left eye. I could never figure out what was wrong with me and when I was out getting contacts from an employee, he said I might possibly have astigmatism. So I guess youre not suppose to have that faint heart attack you get when you go to the dentist with your eye doctor but, I felt like I was on my way to becoming like that. So this year, I vowed to stay away from the crazies. I found private eyes under my insurance then Unilocaled them. So far so good. Well, the reviews are accurate. They have a friendly customer service and both drs (Dr Hsu and Dr Dizon) deserve a standing ovation for their warmth and knowledge in this field. I have never had an eye exam so thorough and they explained everything to me. Ive been going to optometrists for ten years and they really are comparable to Dr. Gilkinson whom I trusted for years with my eyecare. They are also very accomodating, they have good candy and water bottles available for their patients. Another thing I love about this place is their hygiene. Its clean and the drs and staff are very clean as well, they wash their hands right and they sanitize their equipment. (not like a recent dental office I went to which is a different review) It is kind of pricey though, I had insurance so it wasnt so bad and they give you discounts and coupons but with all my other prescriptions, when you go for a contact exam… you automatically get an eyeglass+contact prescription but I guess they do stuff here a little differently. I’m also a starving college student so I think everything is pricey so my opinion on the pricing matter might not count. They aren’t pushy though, they wont sell you something or pressure you into buying something you really dont want. I am actually coveting one of their Kate Spade eyeglasses but Ill have to stick to my other insurance for my eyeglasses. Oh they have a really nice selection of eyeglasses and a very helpful optician tech.
one other thing:
They didnt call me when the acuvue plus 2 sample came so that I could try it on so when I went back for my second appt, I only had the dailies. I wanted two contact lens prescription in case I go somewhere and I want to wear contacts for two weeks or something. So, I called to inform them about it and they were great. They got me in right away, Dr Hsu fitted me with Acuvue 2 without a hassle and I go back next week to get finalized. If you communicate with them, they listen to you and try their best to accommodate your needs.

The tech broke my frame in two while replacing an ear guard and then didn’t even offer a discount on a new frame. Basically said oh well nothing we can do!!!

I love this place. Switched to it last year because they have evening and weekend appointments.
My doc was running a little behind so one of the employees offered to clean and straighten out my glasses while I waited. I’ve never had such great service any where else.
Dr. D was great, she is really young but extremely knowledgeable. She gave me a different brand of contacts that don’t bother me after 12 – 18 hours on the computer. Yay!
