I have to tell you if someone posted a bad experience at this place it is on them, they must just be the problem themselves. My son’s girlfriend has bought all her cars here and over the years I always heard her taking about Chuck the owner stating how good he is to his customers so with and my Mom needing a car we decided to go to Pennington’s. We were greeted with a very zealous Melissa, she was energetic, friendly and sometimes humorous. We looked at a few cars outside and then after telling her our needs and her going to get some keys we looked at cars inside… and shazam!!! There was the perfect car for my Mom. It was clean, decent miles, price was right, just what we were looking for. We went on a test drive just us and the car was great. We had some questions and out came the owner Chuck to assist. He was great, he sat down and was friendly and informative. He offered for my Mom to take the car home and see if she liked it, she said no need to test run it for a couple of days she liked it. He and Melissa assisted in the paper work they made a file for my Mom to keep all her copies in. NO Hidden fees just a good clean deal UNTIL Chuck goes in his office to get something for us and comes out and tells us he was going to have to keep the car for another day because he just saw the mechanics paperwork and we need to fix a couple of things. We were amazed, he could have sent us away and never said a word. So now it was an amazing deal. My Mom picked the car up to day and Chuck took the car on one last spin and told her he wanted them to do one more thing with the breaks if she could wait… she did and left with her new pre owned car. I would recommend this place to anyone… they raised the mark for pre owned car dealerships! Service Service Service… and a good product.

Such a good service. Today I went to buy my first car and they attended me well. They all attended us with respect and when it comes to the selection of cars they, have a big variety at such great prices. Without a doubt a recommend this place to my friends and family. :):)

This place made me really nervous and made me feel taken advantage of. It seemed like they were deliberately selling me a car with serious issues just to profit from fixing it later.
When I brought the car back with a long list of expensive and potentially dangerous issues after taking it to a mechanic, the lady who sold me the car conveniently disapeared. I was left to deal with Mr. Pennington, who seemed, to me, like he does most of his business with intimidation.
«Well how do you expect me to make money?» is not the correct response in a situation when you’ve just profited 3k on a car leaking brake fluid.
I returned the car. I now have the same model, five years newer, three thousand cheaper, and had fifty thousand fewer miles on it. Guess what it’s not leaking.
I read these same reviews on Unilocal before going here. Believe the bad ones.

Pennington is by far the best place to buy a vehicle. They are a family owned and operated business whose main concern is customer service and safety. I have purchased two cars (that I am very happy with) and referred my sister, boyfriend, and friend, all of whom had wonderful experiences that resulted in cars they absolutely love for a beyond fair price! If you want to buy a reliable car and meet some genuinely AMAZING people, Pennington is a must!

My car started needing expensive repairs ~ just not worth it, so a friend recommended this used car dealership. The owners were very friendly, honest, and helpful. I literally picked out a car in one day and drove it home two days later. This place is family-​owned — I totally recommend it!

Pennington’s has been so good to me! When I got my car through them, my credit was bad, after several years of trying tor recover from the beginning of the recession. They made sure to get me in a car and let me know to communicate with them if I ever had to have a late payment. I’ve had to do so several times and they’ve always been very understanding. I’m at the point now where I have a good job and can always pay my bill on time, and I wouldn’t have been able to get here without a car. They are friendly and extremely helpful.

Was looking to sell my car and first thought of Carmax. I put that into google maps to see where the closest one to me was, and noticed this little red dot appear down the street from my office. After further investigating what it was, it turned out to be Pennington’s.
I checked their website and gave them a call and after work I drove over to get my car appraised. They were respectful, thorough, quick and within 20 – 30 minutes I had an appraisal on what they may be able to offer me for my car. Once we finished talking, they suggested that I do still go to Carmax and see what they would offer, and they may be albe to even go above the carmax price.
Went to carmax, and had a terrible experience. Some strange circumstances added to the frustration such as an appraiser getting into an accident with the car he was test driving/​appraising, leading to longer than usual wait times. After 2 hours of sitting around it was finally done, and was only slightly higher than what Pennington’s offered.
I took the offer back to Pennington’s and told them of my experience and told them they don’t need to go above the carmax offer, they just need to match it and I would be a happy camper.
Within 20 minutes, I had a check in hand for the carmax price and was on my way.
Keep them in mind if you get into a similar scenario and help support the small local businesses in the area. They are a honest and hard working bunch and will treat you like a customer, not just a sale.

Don’t buy anything from this place! I bought a car less than three weeks ago and had to take it in twice already. The second time I had to pay 177 bucks for a starter! Chuck told me bring it in and we’ll take care of it for you. Well they did for a nice fee. I feel taken advantage of! Im just scared of what else will go wrong!

Bought a KIA from Melissa and her family a couple months ago for a very reasonable price. The service and attention were excellent. We were recommended to buy from them by a large automotive service in Orange that has been around for years and said they have bought many cars from Penningtons. There are literally three auto brokers on the same street as this service location but instead they sent us to Pennington’s. Are there problems with the car? Yes a few. I didn’t expect something new off the assembly line. It’s a used car. It’s going to have some wrinkles and aches here and there. We got it with 135K+ miles on it and it works just fine for what we need.
Would I recommend Pennington’s? Absolutely! It would be my first and hefty recommendation to anyone wanting an affordable used car. The family treated us great and were patient with us while we pondered which car to buy.
Will certainly go back for Car #2.

I recently bought my second vehicle from Pennington’s and the best part is that I still have my first one and they are both great. The customer service is top notch and the car buying experience is like working with a friend of the family. They are helpful and kind and genuinely interested in finding you a car that suits you the best! My favorite thing about being a Pennington customer is that I no longer need to worry about finding a good honest mechanic. They are a full service shop and have good relationships with shops that handle niche car repairs and service as well. On several occasions over the past few years I’ve needed my car serviced or repaired and I felt like Pennington’s was extremely reasonable when quoting. But, things only got better when they were able to solve my problem for less than the quoted amount! This has happened on more than one occasion, leaving me convinced that everyone at Pennington’s truely has all of their customers’ best interest at heart! Finally, they are flexible and understanding when it comes to payment. Of course, they must be paid, but when hard times strike, they are sometimes willing to split or defer payments to decrease hardship. When my clutch went out a couple years ago, they helped me with a payment plan that got me through a rough patch. I can’t say enough good things about Pennington’s. From car buying, to maintenance, to customer service, to payment, they have mastered their craft and make the customer experience a dream.

My family has purchased several cars over the years from this family owned and operated dealership. Being a single female, I have had more than a few negative experiences at different dealerships, but my first purchase was a dream, and I got a great deal on a car I LOVED the same day. I recently got into an accident and had to go get my replacement. They have plenty to choose from, and they are very knowledgeable on the inventory. I drove away in a car that is a perfect fit for me, thanks to their recommendation. I am 100% in love with my new ride and the folks down at Peningtons! Everyone I worked with was kind, courteous and extremely helpful. Top honors to both Melissa and Tiara. I am a customer of Pennington Auto for almost 2 years. My daughter bought her first car here. She was referred by 3 of her childhood friends. The customer service is great. The atmosphere is like a working beehive. The staff and owner are unbelievable with their knowledge and help with finding your affordable car. Pennington provides free (and good condition) loaner cars for service and their praise-​worthy repairs. Oh. the best part, being around this family owned and run business, changes your outlook on life. Best car sales business! Love their Christmas Cards!

Do not trust these nice people. They make you feel like they are watching out for you but they are not. We bought a $ 4500 car Nissan Altima from them, 45 days later the motor went bad, they replaced it for what seemed like a good deal at $ 2300. After that it was back in their shop more than on the road. We were able to sell it for $ 600 after we were left stranded on a remote road 87 miles from home. We only owned it for 4 months. So disappointed, we feel robbed.

Great and fair family-​run business. I have sold and bought cars with Chuck and his team and have had nothing but great experiences. It is rare in this day and age to find a salesman who truly does care about his customers, but Chuck, his daughter Melissa and the rest of the family make you feel like part of their family.

I bought an 01 acura in April 2013 I put 3k down and have been paying $ 250 a month. a few weeks after I got the car I realized it was leaking oil, Now 8 months later my transmission is out. When I called and spoke to Chuck he said it would be a little over 3k to fix! I still owe $ 2,390! It sucks that I had to pay $ 4500 for a car I could only use for 8 months, now my only choice if for my mechanic brother in law to pay off the car and keep it. Since I wont be coming up with that kind of $ any time soon. I guess Ill be taking the bus for a while…

It took me a month to find a first car for my son. The Unilocal reviews here looked good enough to give them a try. They were super nice, no-​pressure and had a very clean car that was actually under Kelly Blue Book retail price (different from most ads I’ve seen). Since they also have a detail shop and their own mechanics, everything was spotless under the hood. They were firm on the price so we didn’t have to go through lengthy negotiations. What I liked was a $ 150 option to return the car in 3 days (cooling off period). This gave me piece of mind and the ability to have my own mechanic look at the car should I choose to do so. For them it was $ 150 bonus for having a good car. We’ve put about 500 miles on it in two weeks and nothing’s gone wrong other than a broken door handle (cost me $ 15 to buy, 5 minutes to install). They provided the Vehicle History Report, and disclosed the car came from an auction. Car Max doesn’t keep cars under $ 10k or over 100K miles.
Anything can happen to 10-​year old cars with 97K miles and new drivers, so you always have to perform due diligence when shopping. When looking for that high mileage/​low cost car, you have to find someone to trust. The car condition could be a toss of the dice not knowing when the timing belt, fuel pump and other components that are designed to go 100k miles will fail. (Look at the Consumer Reports reliability records to pick a good make/​model). If it doesn’t fail in the first month /​1,000 miles, the seller was OK. I’ll update my review again after my 30-​day warranty. Anything that happens several months after that have to be accepted as used cars go.
It’s comforting to work with a good group of people who appear honest, decent, and trustworthy. I will come back with my next purchase.

They are family owned and put a lot of work into making their used cars feel like and run like new. I found out about this place by word of mouth, they are really honest and I’ve only heard great things from other buyers.
I looked through their website for about 3 weeks until the perfect car for me popped up. I went in 5 minutes before closing time and bought the car, it took about 30 minutes to do all of the paperwork so I’m glad they stayed late to make sure I had wheels to go to work the next day,
I bought my used car there 3 years ago and have had zero mechanical problems, just oil changes. I bought a 1997 Honda Accord. I plan to get my next «new to me» used car from them as well. Seems like most dealers out there are not so nice based on Unilocal reviews. So buy local, buy from a small business, and get a better car with better service. Your buying experience can be stress free!

Searching for a used car with a strict criteria is NOT easy. I was referred to Pennington’s Auto Sales and they made it easy. This is a family owned business and I now feel like I know the family!
