OC Dog Ranch

My sister and I sent our 1 yr old Frenchie to Sarah while we were on vacation in S Africa for 2.5 weeks and it was the best decision we could have made when it came to boarding and training! I got very lucky finding Sarah on Unilocal!I must say I totally agree with the Unilocaler below who said that Sarah is very knowledgable about all breed types, I learned so much more about Frenchie behavior from Sarah.
Our dog Luna is a very energetic and sweet Frenchie who loved to pull on the leash and be the ruler of our household as well as my mom’s house. Her biggest issue was some aggression problems towards other dogs when there were treats or chewy sticks around. She even attacked a dog at my work and I had to stop bringing her before she got banned for good.
Sarah worked on her heeling, aggression issues, recall, and the «place» command and the results are fantastic! Now Luna walks right by my side and wont even walk ahead of me and she will stop and sit down when I stop. She places to her bed no problem and lays down and will stay until I tell her «okay». She also comes when called which she almost never did before she went to Sarah.
The aggression is something I will always need to be careful with with her because it’s pretty deeply rooted in her personality, but she’s doing a lot better and if I stick with trying to prevent the situation before it escalates and disciplining her when it happens, I have no doubt that she will continue to learn to restrain herself in these situations.
Sarah and Arturo are the absolute best options if you’re looking for a boarding and training facility. Luna fell in love with Arturo and would even jump into his arms! She had a lot of fun running around the ranch with the other dogs, playing on the playset, and even doing some agility runs. Sarah went above and beyond even taking Luna out to Home Depot to work on her heeling in a public setting.
I am so impressed and happy with the results after just 2.5 weeks with Sarah and 2 weeks so far of keeping up with training her myself. Sarah even came to my house and then my mom’s house to teach us how to properly train her.

Sarah is amazing! She really knows dogs and how to train them. She’s pretty good at training their owners as well. She has trained me and several of my dogs with great results! Her board and train program is wonderful. I board my dogs with her whenever I’m out of town and my dogs love going to her dog ranch.

This review is long overdue, since we completed our training a couple of months ago. But, I wanted to post because everyone should know that Sarah is an awesome trainer! I was ready to return my rambunctious Labrador puppy to the breeder, but so thankful I called Sarah instead! After just one session, Sarah had given us the tools we needed to begin setting limits and expectations on our pup, Crosby. Over the next few weeks of training, we realized just how smart our little girl is and everyone began commenting on how well behaved she had become. Crosby now knows boundary lines and stays in our yard, without a fence, even when other dogs walk by! She sits/​lays in a stay command. She heels perfectly, and when off leash, she comes with just one call of her name.
I would definitely recommend that everyone invest time in training their furry companions. It makes for such a happier relationship ~ both pet and owner understand each other a little better. And, I would most definitely recommend Sarah to help you achieve this end Thank you Sarah for loving & training Crosby!

She’s the BOMB! Her dogs are absolute angels as well. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend anyone but her. We’ve had friends that have used other trainers, and their dogs are still pretty naughty. She’s very knowledgable, timely, dependable, thorough, consistent, and very obviously LOVES animals and doggies! It was the best money we spent. Several times during our training– We thought «can we be friends outside of training sessions?» because she’s that amazing. Not just a great trainer, but a great person, and a great teacher! Dexter, our chunky goofball labrador needed help in several areas… And he’s 1000% better! His recalls are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Dexter loves her, and so do we. We get compliments all the time on Dexters behavior at the beach trail in San Clemente. We also recently took him through SC farmers market on a Sunday with ZERO issues. Wowza! She would be so proud of us. ;) (Unrelated, but it should be mentioned… She’s also a badass, and does 100mi running competitions, etc…)

I will continued to highly recommend Sarah to anyone in need of a great trainer. Our 2 Aussies absolutely loved training with her. Oh and my husband was a so so student as well. Sarah is very well educated in all breed types. Her knowledge is essential in helping you understand your K-9’s instincts and characteristics. You won’t regret money well spent to ensure a happy family with your furry kids

When I brought home my Portuguese Water Dog puppy I wanted to make sure he was well trained. My Vet gave me Sarah’s number with a casual comment… «she’s good.»
We were in the front yard with Marco and the kids, playing, when she arrived. Giac was in the car with her. As conversations tend to go, she ended up bringing her amazing dog out of the car to show the kids what he can do. That is all the resume I needed… he was amazing. The two of them, together were so impressive I knew this sweet girl would train Marco (and Me).
Marco was a bit broken. He was abused by his breeder and had personality issues because of it. At first he bucked and struggled like a young colt… but in the first training session Sarah had that behavior under control. A long walk around the block and he came back looking at her for instructions. I remember her words to me… She had never had a dog who fought her as hard as Marco did. She said some of his personality issues were going to be very difficult to get rid of (if ever.) His stranger anxiety was profound.
So, together we worked. She taught me how to work with him. Over the next few months we worked with him. By the time Marco and I «graduated» from her amazing teaching, I had a wonderful dog who did excellent on-​leash work and whom I could control and comfort when he was terrified of strangers. She gave me tips to do to get him over his fears. (We did all of them.)
Marco is now 3… he is an amazing dog. I can take him places and he will sit with me calmly. Sarah taught him how to trust. And that is worth a million times more than how to sit and stay.
My boy still has anxiety and unless he is on the leash the UPS man is forever his mortal enemy. (Marco knows if he barks his head off at the man who comes to the door then he will go away… I tell him that the UPS man will go away anyway but Marco is not sure about that.)
Because of this talented young woman I have a dog who has gotten over most of his anxieties. I continue to do the exercises she taught us. Marco is a delight. He will probably never get over his fear of older men as a whole, but he knows not to be afraid of the friends to come to our house. I don’t have to crate him when we have company… he has learned to be part of our family.
Whether you are starting from the beginning, doing behavior touch up or if you want to seriously show your dog… Sarah is the trainer you need. She is, quite simply, amazing.

Can’t say enough wonderful things about Sarah. Recently completed 5 sessions with her and our 2 year old Labradoodle Max. He was having leash aggression problems and bolting when off leash, he’s a whole different dog now. Walking him is a joy and he’s walking off leash like a pro!
Not only does she train the dog, she trains the owner. She’s a joy to work with and has all the patience in the world! I highly recommend her…

Sarah helped me train our dog. From the very first lesson I could tell she had a way with dogs. Our dog took to her right away and almost instantly I could tell a change in our dogs ability to learn. Sarah knows how to train dogs plain and simple. She is flexible in her scheduling and is one of the most down to earth people you will meet. I can not think of any other person I would want to train my dog. Not only dose she help train your dog but she helps train you to train your dog. Many trainers won’t do that as they soon become unnecessary. However, Sarah knows the best way to get results from your dog is repetition and your ability to train the dog when she’s not there. I would recommend Sarah to anyone who wants their dog to be trained by the best.

Sarah is amazing… she helped us with our 100 lb German Shepard. Shelia went from neighborhood killer to the dog everybody loves! Thank you for giving us the tools to keep Shelia in the family!

I have several hunting dogs. Sarah is the best. The dogs behave well and she has trained them from puppies. If you want the best… Call Sarah

Sarah was an amazing trainer for my Bulldog Bucky… who is very stubborn! I strongly recommend her, she is firm but loving and has smart training techniques.

Sarah is like the dog whisperer, only a million times better. We sought out her help with our overly excited rambunctious pup Hendrix. We were experiencing neck and back pains from his pulling on the leash on walks. He’s strong. After only 1 training session with her we saw results. Her techniques are incredible! We literally could not believe our own eyes. He went from pulling our arm out of it’s socket on every walk to walking off leash and heeling at that! He listened to commands and would even stop what he was doing to come running to us if we called. I can’t speak highly enough of her abilities. I must note– it was a good amount of hard work on our part as well… but she definitely trained us how to train him and it worked! She’s fantastic.
