This is our go to jeweler when we want something repaired or special crafted. The staff is especially nice and always helpful. Just had my husbands ring repaired they did a great job. Always reasonable in price. Going here for 20 some years.

Stopped by while I was in the area cause I realized the stone in my engagement ring was a little wiggly. Jon was extremely friendly and was able to tighten up the ring and clean it free of charge. And I was in and out in under 10 mins! Would recommend him for any jewelry needs.

My husband first found this place. He took my engagement ring, over 200 years old and has always been in the family, to get it undone from the wedding ring and made 2 sizes bigger (was a size 4). It’s white gold with diamonds.
We ended up going back here to put them back together, after the wedding.
They also touch up the rhodium when it needs to be done!
I wouldn’t trust my family ring/​wedding ring to anyone else! In fact, I’ve recommended them for years.
It’s hard to find someone to trust with such a valuable piece of jewelry… especially something that’s been in the family for 200+ years!

John has been a wealth of knowledge for us from beginning to end as we embark on our journey to make a very special set of rings with him. We also had the cool experience of standing alongside him to watch him craft a virtual mold with his computer (which I’ll upload in a sec) within the 90 minutes that we were there taking in all the inputs that we had. I can’t believe that option is available to everyone that has the time/​patience to do it and if you do, it’s so worth it because we had enjoyed every bit of the process! I live down the street from Jon Pettey’s jewelry shop and my boyfriend recommended him to make a custom job for my mom. My mom had lost her wedding ring set that my father had gotten her 25 plus years ago. She tried to look for a replacement set but nothing was to her liking. I decided to get her rings custom made and give them to her for her birthday. I went to Jon and showed him my dads Ring that was a match to my moms rings and let him know that on the engagement ring there was a solitaire diamond. He was not only able to replicate the rings but he made a great job on the work! When I gave them to my mom she was shocked at how similar they looked to the ones she had lost. If you are looking for a great jeweler Jon is your guy! Will definitely be coming back to him.

I have been buying custom jewelry from Jon and many of my friends and family have also since he opened. We would all agree his integrity and creativity are second to none. He and his staff have always blown our minds with his creations.
If someone doesnt like his offer on buying their jewelry off the street then go somewhere else. He is there to stay in business. If you want to sell your jewelry to him at retail prices then open up your own store and expose yourself to all the risk and costs he does. If not stop whining.

This is an unscrupulous business. I called them to sell them some gold and some platinum. I had a wedding band that weighed over a half ounce of platinum– and it had beautiful high-​quality diamonds rated VS2 and I in color, total weight of the diamonds is 12ct. I also had a 14K gold ring. Both were beautiful and just awesome pieces of jewelry. I wanted to sell them for as much as I could, obviously, so I took them to various pawn shops in the area. I was offered $ 550 dollars at the highest, and $ 450 at the lowest. After mulling things over, I got the idea that perhaps a goldsmith might be a good place to sell these rings. After all, they need gold and platinum to make their jewelry, right?
So I called Jon Pettey Custom Goldsmith in Orange, and spoke with a woman on the phone who assured me that they would pay more than any pawn shop would. No problem! She said it might not be alot more, but definitely they would pay more. I took time out of my schedule to drive down there, and I showed them the rings. They took the rings to the back of the store, weighed them, and came back to the front counter and said $ 300 is what they would pay.
I understand that they are in business to make a profit, but to lie to people over the phone just to get them in the doors is reprehensible. This clown is just another scammer. The woman at the counter tried to explain that the offer was much lower than over the phone because «they don’t have a license to resell used jewelry.» What a load of BS– If a business has a license to buy jewelry, they can do with it what they want– resell it, melt it down to make new jewelry, whatever. To be lied to, and to have such a STUPID lie told to me, really makes me annoyed. Who do they think they are dealing with, children?
And one last thing– the jewelry that this guy makes looks like crap. Apparently he likes to make fish pendants, and not much else. Well, his stuff looks sort of like fish, but very amateurish. I could make better looking fish with a blindfold on. After reading other reviews of this business saying his jewelry falls apart and is low quality, I’m not surprised.
I went back to the pawn shop where I was offered the highest amount and sold my gold and platinum. If you want my advice you will steer clear of this cheezy business. If I could give zero stars or a negative number of stars, I would.

As an Orange County local, I first met Jon when I approached him about making a custom engagement ring. I gathered a few pictures of ideas that I had, and gave him all the information. The ring that I could see in my mind, and wanted to present to my beautiful girlfriend, was a three stone ring with a princess cut diamond for the center stone, and trillion sapphire side stones. The band was a complex filigreed pattern and met with the middle with a heart. I also only had one week to get this done, because I would be traveling for work, and I didn’t know when I would be back in town. Jon began to work on it immediately and personally kept in contact with me through the whole process to ensure that everything was done to my specific wants and needs. Upon completion, I went to the shop to pick up the ring and it was absolutely beautiful, and more impressive then I had even imagined. I can say to this day that I am so happy that I chose to take my business to Jon Pettey, and I recommend that anyone looking for an engagement ring, or custom jewelry, start by looking here.

I went here to get an engagement and wedding ban set and trusted Jon Petty himself. I was mislead and ripped off. The diamond was far below par for the price I was paying and the rings were «custom» pieces of junk. An accent diamond fell out of the ring while still in the box. Do your homework on jewelry if your really really have to go here.
