Was recommended from a friend. Ernie got the job done quickly. I had a bent rim. Pulled the tire and had me out the door in under 30 minutes. Great service. Will come back again.

I was referred to Ernie by a trusted friend, and let me tell you: Ernie exceeded my every expectation. It’s too bad there’s not a 10-​star rating because Ernie would definitely get it. He went out of his way to accommodate me and my crazy schedule, and he was right on time every time he said he would be. Ernie kept me updated on the progress at every step of the way and through multiple visits. With the multiple possibilities of what could have been wrong with my car, Ernie could have told me anything was wrong and charged me to fix it but he didn’t. He patiently explained everything and showed me that after my engine was steam-​cleaned I didn’t have the huge problem I thought I had. He topped off the fluids and sent me on my way. Ernie is the real deal when it comes to honesty, integrity, and knowing exactly what to do for your engine. I will definitely be back any time I have any auto issues in the future, and I’ll definitely be sending my friends his way.

Ernie’s the man! He’s honest and I know my car is always in good hands. I’ve been going to him for the last 3 years. Before that I use to go to guys who’d try to rip me off, but not Ernie. I feel my car is always in good hands, I highly recommend him.

Ernie at Hwy Auto is the only mechanic I truly trust with my cars. He’s honest, professional and he knows cars and trucks. I’ve never had him try to «up sell» me or do work that did not need to be done. In fact, he’s corrected work that was done incorrectly by other mechanics. And, Ernie is a good man, involved in the community, helping people in need and dedicated to his family. You just can’t go wrong with Ernie.

I discovered Ernie and his team from Rich at Americoat Powder Coating. Ernie and his team were wonderful to work with and provided excellent service at a fair price. I used HWY Auto for my wheel needs, but discovered his capabilities on general auto service and plan to use them in the future.

I missed my appointment and didn’t call to notify them of this. Instead of re-​scheduling me, they refused my service. I understand because I wasted their time and what not. I called to apologize for having food poisoning and not being able to pick up a phone at all. Ernie seems very nice and they were willing to give me a great price to fix my car. I’m sad to have been refused but it is my own fault. I have to say don’t cancel on them without notice. There is no second chances.

Ernie is awesome and they do a great job. Honest and reasonably priced. I always bring my car here and recommend them to everyone. My check engine light came on the other day and Ernie told me the issue and didn’t even charge me for it. He didn’t do that type of repair, so referred me to another great shop nearby. I work close by, so I just drop my car in the morning and pick it up when I get off work. I’ve never had to leave it longer than that, it’s always done by day’s end. It’s a small shop, so don’t expect the pop in lunch hour oil change.

No, but seriously, Ernie has really good work ethnics, that’s what I like about his shop. Customer is always #1 here at Hwy Auto. Fair prices, knowledgeable staff, and most importantly, they do things THE RIGHT WAY.
I’ve been a customer of Ernie for a long time. He always takes care of his peeps. If I was in the OC more often, I’d probably take my car here for service more often. I only use synthetic oil for my cars, and they have a deal for Synthetic oil change for 69.95 and get 10.00 off check in offer. It’s about $ 50 just to buy the oil at a parts store. I just pay these guys $ 10 more and they’ll do the dirty work. I am sold!

Correction. I liked your customer service. I didn’t like the customer service the guy who first helped me out. I got there and told him I needed an groupon oil change and he said «let me see your groupon.» I explained to him that I already redeemed my coupon and they had me set for three oil changes. I told him it should show in his system. He said, «I need to see your groupon because I need to know what I need to do.» I had to sit there and look for my old groupons. He eventually got frustrated with me and said where is your car?
I guess his attitude left a bad taste in my mouth. I guess I just expect good customer service from all employees not just the owner.
I hope you don’t take this review to heart. The purpose of this review is to improve your employees customer service.

I bought Groupon for oil change. I had to call several times so finally get an appointment for oil change after three weeks. They charged me a little extra on top of the paid Groupon because the oil was premium.
I went there and they took about 20 mins for oil change.
They have a nice waiting area and I read magazines while waiting.
The guy who helped me was nice and gave me more information about my car and how to maintain it. The payment was fast.
They are not open on weekends and on weekday they close at 6 so if you buy Groupon make sure they have appointments!

I purchased a $ 50 Groupon which included 3 oil changes. The Groupon did state that the oil changes required an appointment. I tried several times to make an appointment but the phone just rings and no one picks up. The business hours are not accommodating at all. If you work a regular job then don’t bother trying to get a oil change here. They are only open Monday — Friday from 8am-​6pm. It would cost me more to take time off of work or leave early for an oil change.
I then decided to just show up since no one was answering my calls. When I got there the earliest appointment they had open was in a week for 8am. I already took off of work early that day and there was only 1 customer in the facility and they couldn’t accommodate me.

Can not find a bad thing to say about these guys, every time I have brought my Ford Edge in they get it fixed quickly with a smile. Its hard too, my Edge has been found to be a completely exotic car when it comes to finding parts for it. They find them and repair them, and every time its the same day. Ernie never seems to do anything around there but his guys are always hard at work when I go in. haha

Best living social deal that I have ever bought. And I’ve bought a lot because I’m poor, and can’t afford things in life that aren’t discounted. I would have never found this hidden gem had I not purchased the coupon! I am about 30 minutes away from Orange, so I planned on just getting the super cheap oil changes and never returning. But Ernie forced me to stay with his knowledge, trustworthiness, kindness,. and overall awesomeness. I always refer this place to my family and friends whenever they say they need anything done. I wish they were closer so I could just go over there to bug them and hang out! It’s my home away from home. If you have ever doubted your auto shop before, don’t hesitate and go into HwyAUTO… I guarantee you will never feel like that with them.

Ernie and his crew are remarkable! I have never felt so comfortable and confident with a mechanic because of his honesty and integrity. Ernie is passionate about cars and their owners. We take all 4 of our cars to him and he’s always on top of what each one needs for maintenance.
Even better, his prices are ALWAYS lower than any national chain or dealership! In addition to our own vehicles, I have had multiple friends benefit from his great service and pricing after another mechanic has diagnosed their car with problems that didn’t even exist!

Since my last review I’ve been driving from Long Beach to HwyAuto in Tustin not just for oil changes, but for other services. This is one of the few places I trust, which is very rare and hard to find in all things auto related. Especially as a female. So for me it’s worth it to make the trek. Most recently I’ve had my serpentine belt replaced, and my battery replaced. They did a great job both times, they’re always fast, and always give me a great/​honest price.
With the battery thing my battery wasn’t showing any signs of giving up, and had actually passed the charge test (or whatever it’s called) twice at two other places. But I wanted it changed for my piece of mind (my car is 6 yrs old and this was it’s original battery, and I had jump started the thing twice when I forgot to turn the lights off). Anyway, Good thing. When they took the battery out they said it was «swelling» and was about to go out at anytime. They changed it out in less than an hour I believe, I swear they do all my services in an hour or two. They never belittle be because I’m a female, and explain all services. And they never try to up sell services. Love this place.

Great prices — The first time I brought my car here, it actually had it towed in since my car wouldn’t start. It turns out that I needed to replace my starter. I got the job done here and afterwards I talked to some of my friends to see if I got a reasonable price on the job. Turns out that Ernie actually had the best price around, and my car worked great afterwards!
Honest — I brought my car in for some maintenance and he told me that everything was fine, that my brakes could last until the next maintenance and that I didn’t need any work done this time around. He could have easily sold me something that I didn’t need, but he didn’t!
I now bring both me and my wife’s car here for any type of auto work. More business owners need to take notes from this guy. Seriously, the world would be a better place with more people like Ernie. :)

Ernie is the best. This is the first time when I have to go get a repair on my car that I don’t dread going. He makes you feel at home, and his mechanic Danny is super smart and they both explain everything to you. I have been out to the bay on several occasions to actually see the issues they are addressing. As a woman, they treat me with respect and believe I understand cars. They know that at times the consumer is tight on cash, so they never load up the bill, just do what needs to be done, while suggesting things to be safe on the road at a later date. Everyone should come here as you will save money, and enjoy the atmosphere and music. I have sent several people here since I began coming a few years ago.

Walked in because my car was overheating they told me it was the water pump and working on the coolant system I should also switch out the thermostat which I might have switched out recently but could not remember. They called me back and told me that my thermostat looked new and not to replace it. So if anyone is worried about not being treated fair, you don’t have to worry about these guys. They are honest. Everyone always has a fear of not being treated right by car mechanics. My car was completed in a few hours, the price seemed fair, and my car made it home without overheating. I recommend HwyAuto and will definitely return, but hopefully not anytime soon.

Got a groupon deal for 15 $ oil change. Have to make an appointment because this place is booked! Came in & they took only 20mins to change my oil. Speedy satisfaction! The front desk guy was friendly & funny too. Good & quick customer service. Would come here again.
