This dinning experience(lunch) was, shall we say, enigmatic: the tavern seemed cozy, fairly modern and new but, walk around the other side of the bar and: SHAZAM! Step back in time. Almost like an afterthought; but for it being the other way around. Some cozy-cushioned booths by the windows and some hardwood tables and chairs seeming to keep the customer turnover flowing. The updated tavern section was really where the crowd was though: happy and full; teeming within and without! We chose the booth. Pert butts prefer padding. Nevertheless: the food was exceptionally(and unexpectedly, I’ll just have to say) excellently presented(in an unassuming way), prepared and FRESH! Very fresh! W0W! What a wonderful surprise! Who would have thought? Maybe this’s why so excited: had low, to no, expectations. Just stopped in to use the restrooms. Go figure. The next time business brings me to the area I’ll most definitely try and stop in with more time on my hands. Service was ‘young-girl-in-her-own-way’ display of: ‘take-it or leave-it’ type who considers a two dollar and twenty five cent tip an exceptional day. But then service not even worth that much. But I like to tip well. Call me an enabler but, sooner or later they’ll figure it out.

We ate here recently for the first time with a large group of people. We have eaten at most of the restaurants in the Athol/Orange area, but never here. As somebody mentioned, it’s an Applebee’s kind of place. I had the baked haddock, my companion had a «black + bleu» salad. I doubt the fish was haddock, it looked + tasted more like cod. It was overcooked, dry and tasteless. They forgot my bread stick, and the waitress disappeared. The salad was ok. We probably should have ordered something fried, that’s what most of their menu is. I… ummm…I really don’t think you can trust many, if ANY of the reviews written here for this place. It seems like there is some kind of review«warring» going on in this area. The 1 bad review for Herrick’s was written by somebody who also wrote a bad review for the 202 Grille! Both reviews are exactly the same! That’s what I call a good reviewer, someone trying to trash a place’s rep TWICE! Many of the 5 star reviews here are from people who come from areas with no sea food. Many 5 star reviews come from local people who clearly don’t know sea food(or apparently what a 5 star place is). Anyways… on it’s best day this place is NOT, nor will it ever be a 5 star place. It’s average, but the meals are a very good value. It’s not worth traveling any distance here to try it. But if you are in the area, it may be worth a try.

Great food, reasonable prices, great home made potato chips and a waitress that makes the Energizer Bunny look like he’s sleep walking! Management gets one star for making this woman take care of the dinning room, and lounge all alone. If you guys don’t give this woman(she was working the afternoon shift on Nov 1) a raise, you will surly burn in Hell!

Stopped in on the way home from Vermont. There wasn’t much else around so we gave this place a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the food but the service was a little spotty. Overall a good experience. There was some trash on the floor and the décor could use a little updating but overall a pretty decent experience.

This place was only 1⁄10 of a mile form where I was staying, so it was the perfect place to eat my 1st night in the area. I sat at the bar and was waited on right away. All the staff were friendly and attentive. There were a lot of regulars in the place and you could feel the hometown atmosphere. I had a Caesar salad and a bacon cheeseburger. Safe bets, but i was in no mood for anything else. Each was delicious and amply portioned(much like my gut). The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 was, I went to go back Sunday night with a friend, it says they were open till 8:00PM on Sundays, but when we showed up at 7 it was closed with no sign or indication why they weren’t open. Another person showed up around the same time and was baffled as to why they were closed as well.

Stopped by here on the way out to the western part of the state to go camping with the family. Food was exactly what you would expect at a local tavern. Good kids meals at a fair price. I had the hamburger club that was tasty. Played Keno and won enough money to pay for half the bill so that was a bonus!!! Overall a great place to stop in.

My mom and I love it here. Great fish and chips, delicious sides, service friendly, no sharing charge, no attitude. I can see how the bar may be a little«cliquish» to the locals, but, honestly, what neighborhood bar isn’t? Anyway, I’m not there to drink and, if my food and service is as consistently good as it has been, they have my business.

My favorite spot to go for a quick bite when fast food won’t do. I order the black and blue salad the portion is large and filling. I have had the salad with chicken good also and a burger if I crave that. They don’t have a fancy menu my husband has had the meat loaf dinner which is his go to meal if he’s not sure. Remember this is casual. Appears clean. The side with booths is quieter. The server was nice average wait. There are TVs and Keno.

Was in Orange for volleyball event and stopped in for a quick bite on our way home. This is clearly the local watering hole. There staff was friendly but the service show. It was very clear the locals received preferred treatment. We waited 15 minutes for our simple drink order(a light beer, diet coke, and a water) to be filled. The food was Ok bar food nothing to write home about. We ordered the sampler, which was good but the rings were bland. I had the chowder which was very good. We each had sandwiches which were average.

We ordered clam chowder and potato skins for appetizers. She ordered a Pinot Grigio, while I had iced tea. The appetizers took 20 minutes to arrive. The potato skins were cold on the inside, greasy and covered in bacon bits that tasted a week old. The clam chowder was a large portion. The stock was obviously from a can. It tasted like a bad can of Snow’s canned chowder. I didn’t finish it. The mushroom Swiss burger was well done, as ordered. It arrived well presented, but greasy. The bun was soggy from the grease. The Turkey Pannini was good, though it was loaded with raw onions. I didn’t expect that. The onion petals are simple onion rings, but smaller. These were good. The sweet potato fries were good also, but were frozen, not fresh. The servers were good. Busy, but attentive. This place is good for greasy bar food, but I have now been here twice, and I’ve not yet had a fresh meal here. Grease. Frozen sea food, and beer. That’s what I think of when I think of Herricks Tavern.

The food is really good. The menu is simple and everything is made well. I’ve been here twice, with large parties and the only thing I didn’t like was the wait for the food, but it could be because we were a big group overall, it’s a good place to grab a bite to eat. The drinks are pretty good too. And everything was affordable although I think the appetizers are a bit pricey.

We recently went here with my family and it was great as usual. I got the fried fish which was fresh and well done. It was not too heavy. This is a great establishment for Orange!

The staff is very friendly! Their homemade nuggets are the best. Sweet potato fries are a must try! The Turkey pesto panini is AWESOME! This place should be a place visitors to the area try!

Decent place to watch a game an grab a beer in a very small town. Good selection on tap, and friendly service. Food is mostly pub food, with limited food selections(haddock, clams, burgers, big salads, etc). They also have buzztime trivia which is pretty fun to play against other people. Family friendly atmosphere with an ice cream stand attached, driving range, batting cages, and mini golf.

Was here for a quick bite on a road trip. The restaurant is along a public driving range and has a restaurant portion separated from the bar section. I had the baked haddock for $ 12.50 and its was pretty good. It also came with a side salad, fries and some veggies. The service was good and friendly. It was a busy place and had plenty of families along with local outgoing types in the sports bar. Probably one of the few places to hang out in the small town of Orange but it’s a place that you can get comfortable in.
