Algarve BBQ

Terrible. Microwaved ribs and chicken.
Pictures of fire everywhere. but the food had never seen a flame.
BOOOOOO!

Food is good, massive portions but not as good as the original on Van Buren St. In Elizabeth. The service was quick, workers are polite, the place was clean but menu is limited and no alchohol. Under new management and name changed to Pepe’s BBQ. Good place for a quick lunch or dinner but not a place to go on a romantic date.

I’ve only gone there once. And I was suprised at the size of the porions for the low price they charge! They recently changed ownership and are now called Pepe’s BBQ. The food is really good and I enjoyed it. The only thing is that the place is almost completely empty.
But the food is very good!

It’s almost like these folks are trying to go out of business. The interior is nice but the employees treat the dining room like a break room. Rather than acknowledge customers or – god forbid — prepare food, they drape themselves and their random crap on tables, making an otherwise nice space very uninviting. Worse, these same employees eat THEIR food while you sit waiting forever for yours. We ordered at 5:45 and the food came out at 6:12. Was it busy? No. There was one other guy in there and a handful of people waiting for take out. Everyone waiting about 30 minutes for their food. That would even be forgivable if the food was great, or good, or even unique. This stuff had all of the charm of what you’d expect from the freezer section of your grocery store. I can’t imagine any of their customers will be coming back.

So far I only had the Beef Ribs (thick and juicy) and Steak Sandwich and both have been amazing and at a great price. The first time the fries were cooked to perfection but the second time they were burnt, the owner saw that i was not pleased with the fries and come up to me and gave me new fries immediately. They go out of the way to make sure EVERYONE is happy. I go there often for lunch.
