History

Established in 1993.

After graduating Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and Florida State College, Joseph Hanson started acquiring guitar students to show them all of the knowledge he learned in school for guitar. Throughout the years, Joseph Hanson has taught a great number of students how to not only play the guitar, but how to play it well with his unique teaching style. Today, Joseph Hanson Guitar Studio continues this tradition of learning how to play in a great teaching environment.

Joseph Hanson started playing the violin at the age of 8. After a number of years playing violin, he started playing piano and trumpet in school band. By the time he reached the age of 14, Joseph knew he wanted to expand on his musical instrument knowledge and picked up a guitar for the first time and since then has never put it down. After auditioning for Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in 1990 and being admitted in, he learned how to hone his craft by playing with some of North Florida’s finest young musicians. All through high school and college, Joseph played in a number of Jacksonville’s rock and jazz bands earning a reputation as a solid guitar player who could play in a variety of musical environments.

Today Joseph is currently in the process of putting another jazz-​rock fusion band together while still maintaining an emphasis on teaching others how to play guitar.
