I have come here a few times. Recently, I came for lunch and got the salmon sashimi over rice bowl. It came with miso soup, which was delicious. The salmon sashimi was very good and fresh. The sushi rice was pretty good. Afterwards, we had the strawberry and green tea mochi ice cream, which was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. Parking can be found on the street or across the street in the little municipal lot. Pretty darn good, would definitely return again.

Pretty busy for a small sushi place off a main road in Oradell. My husband and I are new patrons and Unilocaled this place craving sushi. There’s parking across the street and also limited street parking. The restaurant was very cozy with minimal seating. I would say the place seats 30 – 40 if you utilize the bar. Coming here on a Saturday at a busy dinner time, my husband and I opted to sit at the bar. Service: unfortunately wasn’t the best I’ve encountered. We sat down for a good 10 minutes before anyone came and asked us for our drinks. Understandably, there was only two waitresses, but it shouldn’t have taken that long just to ask for our drink orders. Anyways, after closing our menus and chatting, someone finally came and asked us for our drinks. The second waitress came and took our food order which we didn’t have to wait too long for. A few cons with sitting at the bar; the waitresses lean over you to pick up sushi orders, dirty trays are placed at the end of the bar, and take out is being packed up at the other end of the bar. Our water/tea was never refilled and our check was given to us even before asking if we wanted anything else, which we did(the tempura ice cream) and before we were ready to leave. Food: I’ve had my share of sushi and this place definitely is at the top of my list. My husband ordered the chicken katsu which was probably one of the better ones I’ve had. The chicken is cooked right and the dish provides more than enough to share between two people. I ordered the Godzilla roll which consisted of avocados, salmon, and rice, wrapped in a tempura shell instead of the rice. It’s covered in a sweet and spicy sauce which was a little over done for my personal taste, but nonetheless, the sushi was delicious. My husband HAD to get the green tea tempura ice cream, which wasn’t great at all. The green tea ice cream was hard and chunky, which made me think the ice cream was getting old. Needless to say, I’ve had better tempura ice cream. I do recommend this place if you’re looking for good sushi in the area. I don’t suggest sitting at the bar because of all the cons I’ve mentioned and I wouldn’t come at a busy time on a Friday/Saturday. Ultimately, I would probably just order take out from this place and eat the sushi at the comfort of my own home. I took one star away from this place because of the service. Like I said, I would come here after peak dinner hours or most likely order take out.

This is one of my favorite local spots. The place is extremely clean and the staff is very friendly. Food is of high quality, although I wish their rolls were a little more generous in size. I love to sit at the sushi bar, so it would have been nice if it wasn’t at the back near the kitchen doors, but that’s not a biggie in the big picture. They have a large menu with very creative dishes…

Best Japanese food in the area. Soup is always hot unlike other places where it’s tepid. Sushi is fresh and delicious. My personal favorites are the Sake Don(salmon chirashi) because they give you so much sashimi and the Tonkatsu Dinner which is authentic and tasty with a large portion of cutlet. The décor is also very nice and creates a great atmosphere to dine in. Highly recommend this excellent place.

By far the best quality raw fish in Bergen County. Since moving back from California I have been in search for a Japanese restaurant whose sushi quality was on par with the fresh fish of CA. Finally found a gem here. The fish is always fresh and tasty. The hot dishes are excellent and their restaurant special appetizer is a nice touch. The restaurant atmosphere is really nice and relaxing especially after a long day at work. If taking the train to and from NY make sure to stop here and try the Ocean Roll!

Good food bad service. Very disappointed with how we were treated. They need to be aware that restaurant is a sevice business. Dining is an experience more than just getting out stomachs full. It’s a horrible feeling to pay for your food and feel like crap on your way out.

The food is fresh and lovingly cooked; so far, everything I’ve tried is beautifully seasoned and delicious. The five stars is for wonderful food AND excellent service. The staff is warm and welcoming and knowledgeable; they know my family by name and they remember our preferences. They constantly go out of their way to make our meal experience special. Highly recommend Ocean Sushi in Oradell.

Went for dinner last night. Place was absolutely packed. Took nearly an hour and a half to get sushi. Service was horrible, waitress was clearly overwhelmed. All of this would have been fine, except about an hour into waiting for the sushi, the waitress brought over some pancakes to make up for the wait. The pancakes were ice old. Obviously they were meant for another table and were old and had been sent back. I have never been so taken aback st s restaurant before. To be given ice old clearly meant for someone else food to make up for horrible service is just inexcusable. I will not be going back ever.

We were running errands in the neighborhood and were craving some sushi. Ocean hit the spot! The lunch boxes are moderately priced, and give you a good amount of food. The sushi was fresh and tasty. And their fresh green iced tea was refreshing and yummy. I don’t spend a ton of time in Oradell, but if I want sushi and happen to be in the area, Ill be back.

It was solid, good but not great. We ordered a bunch of things — edamame, spicy tartare, sushi combo, shrimp tempura roll and sexy roll. Appetizers were okay. Best roll was the shrimp tempura roll as it has the right balance of fish, crunch and toppings. Tuna was fresh and yummy. The sushi combo was eh okay. We will want to explore more before coming back, or atleast reset expectations about suburban sushi.

This is a fine place for sushi. Here is the Tony run down. Salad — Nice and crisp and the ginger sauce was yummy. Spider roll — This was very good. The crab was nicely fried. Rainbow roll — This was okay. Although the fish was fresh, I had a hard time distinguishing each flavor of the rainbow. They all tasted kinda the same. California roll — Your standard roll at any place. Nothing out of this world and nothing bad. Service — It was a little spotty. We were the only people in here and our waitress just watched TV until we had to call her over for something. She should have been a little more attentive. I will be back to try some other dishes soon.

Ocean Sushi is a great local sushi spot. I always walk out of here completely stuffed. The atmosphere is pretty nice. They actually put a cloth hanging up to separate some of the tables so it feels a bit more intimate. The service is always outstanding; they are very attentive. I have tried many sushi rolls here including the Dragon Roll(one of my favorites– I love the warm eel inside mixed with cold avocado on top), Riverside Roll, Sexy Roll(the name is hilarious but it’s soo good! I always get this one), What’s going on roll and, of course, the Oh My God Roll– the entire roll is tempura and it’s outstanding! I also always get Miso Soup and Seaweed Salad. The seaweed salad could be bigger– they do the famous trick where they put romaine lettuce under the salad –__– but it’s still very tasty and not too oily. I’ve been here at least 10 times so I guess I’m considered a regular here. It’s a great place that worth a try! you will love it. Oh, and it’s BYOB!

Japanese restaurant with run by by a nice Korean family. The menu had some Korean cuisine in it like«hwe dup bap”(sashimi bibimbap), bulgogi platter. My husband wanted to try a different Japanese restaurant and we found this place in Unilocal. We went there for a early dinner, 2 tables were occupied. BYOB is always plus for us who love to bring our own wine. We ordered soft shell crab Kara age. We loved it! It was soft but had a crispy texture with full of crab flavor. Ordered some rolls for main course. They were all well-made and delicious. My favorite was thunder roll which was special for the night. Service was great but I only saw one server. It could get hectic at busy evening I thought. It was great option for us to try different Japanese restaurant. They didn’t have bento box or manager special which can taste little bit of simple stuff. They are not authentic Japanese. But if you like decent rolls, this place could be one of the option. Parking at street or municipal parking.

So I had an early dinner here last night with a friend and the place was completely empty. But as it got later, it started to fill up. It’s got a nice ambiance, with intimate lighting and dark wood furniture. Needless to say, we were seated quickly. We received our menus and the sole waitress took our drink order. I tried their unsweetened iced green tea. It was good, not too bitter. Decided to have the Eel, Spicy Tuna, and Hot rolls. The eel and spicy tuna were fresh and tasty. They didn’t skimp on the fish. The Hot Roll was very good, interesting texture and good balance of flavors. It was cooked, but it was different than any other special rolls I’ve had at other places. For dessert, we split the tempura ice cream. It was presented very well. The warm, crispy, tempura shell and cold, soft, ice cream were an excellent contrast. I’d like to go back to try their other rolls. And the sushi pizza sounds interesting.

All I can say is, Thunderball. Thunderball is the amazing, special, roll they have here. It is delicious. It’s basically a shrimp tempura roll with lobster salad on top. I think there’s tuna on there too. It’s so delicious. One of the best rolls I’ve ever had. I like coming here for the cute space and how the staff is always friendly and accomodating. I will definitely be coming back here.
