Susan has an amazing place in Oracle, AZ. We are recent empty-nesters and are trying to explore AZ. At the last minute, we booked Susan’s place and were not disappointed. We stayed in a cute little ranch house with one bedroom, a bathroom and a little kitchen. It was awesome! It felt so secluded and it was great being across from the entry to Oracle National Park. We went hiking, we went to Biosphere 2, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the large and beautiful property. This is a wonderful getaway and Susan is very accommodating – she made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay.

A friend and I stayed at Cherry Valley Ranch for two nights early in October. As Nancy S stated, Susan, our host, was totally welcoming and gracious. We stayed in the ranch house which is beautifully furbished. The place is immaculate. Susan gave us a tour of the three casitas. She offers a large delicious breakfast each day. The dining area opens to fantastic views. All in all, a delightful and memorable experience. Susan grew up in the home and knows the lay of the land and the history of the area. She’s a great conversationalist. We toured while in Oracle,. We visited the Thomas Boyce Arboretum in Superior, hiked in Catalina State Park, ate at a church fiesta and went on two tours of Biosphere 2. On Saturday morning we took the usual tour and, in the afternoon, we took the history tour: I recommend both since Biosphere 2 is totally offbeat and intriguing. I’m also recommending the magical Glow Festival at Triangle L Ranch. This year the Glow Festival was held the first two Saturday nights in September and October.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding and would highly recommend it. The bed and breakfast is located on a ranch and consists of three casitas plus a main house(where the owner lives) that has additional rooms. There is a homemade breakfast that is served each morning at 8:00 that was tasty. The owner was very accommodating and was ready to help however she could to make our stay pleasant. Pros 1. Casita we stayed in was clean, quiet(you are in middle of desert so there isn’t too much around) and comfortable 2. Tasty homemade breakfast 3. Very scenic property and great views Cons 1. In some sense you are«roughing» it. There are not amenities like wifi and cable tv etc. and you are sort of in the middle of no where. Oracle is a fairly small town and doesn’t offer a whole lot in terms of dining etc.(we did have a fun time at the local watering hole the Oracle Inn) so depending on what you are looking for this might not be the place for you.

Four of us stayed here for 2 nights(2 people in a casita and 2 in the ranch house) while we were in the area hiking and biking the Arizona Trail. Susan, the owner, was the most delightful hostess, extremely knowledgeable about the area’s history, wildlife, recreation and natural attrations and was an excellent conversationalist, making everyone feel right at home. Her full breakfasts each day were absolutely awesome-the fruit was fresh and baked items were right out of the oven. We watched many varieties of birds from both the breakfast room window and the outside deck in the evening; we even saw a javelina. Our casita was perfectly accessorized with all items needed for cooking(which we did one night), had beautiful built in cabinets, plenty of fun whimsical ranch décor and a very comfortable and warm bed. Wi-fi worked in the main building and Susan was great with both e-mails and cell phone calls. We would highly recommend staying here and would definitely return. Susan accepts cash and checks.

I just stayed at Cherry Valley for a few days for the Tucson Marathon, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The desert hills in the area are incredibly beautiful, and since the ranch is 100 acres, it feels almost completely undeveloped while you’re staying there. The house also has gorgeous views of the surrounding hills. The rooms are well-decorated, very clean, and have a personal feeling and charm that you can’t get in a hotel or motel. I stayed in the Manzanita room and found everything very comfortable and spacious. Finally, the owner is very warm and friendly. She made me breakfast just how I wanted it, gave me aloe for my race-induced blisters, and was generally wonderful company for the relatively little time I spent out in the living room. She was also very welcoming when I arrived despite it being 1:45 in the morning due to a delayed flight and getting a little lost on the way. Note: The front gate has a pretty small sign that can be easy to miss at night, but it’s right across from a prominent sign at the entrance to Oracle State Park.
