K & M Builder and Developer

I bought a house that he built and I would not buy another. Not going to slam anyone. Enough said.

Rented a house from these builders in the LAKES AT STANDIFER subdivision. It was brand new at the time, but was SO poorly built. Where to begin? First the sewage pump backed up and literally spewed sewage all over our front yard. The paint was so thin and cheap, a fingernail scratch would leave a visible mark. Towel rack in the master bath fell right off the wall, toilet paper holder in master bath wasn’t screwed in all the way it, too, fell off the wall. The door frame in the master bath was a good ½″ off the floor. The hardwood floors were already squeaking and you could feel it sloping. The tiled floors in the kitchen cracked because apparently they installed the boards underneath it incorrectly and they came up causing the tile to crack. The alarm on the electric panel outside kept going off and we had NO idea why. With all these annoying issues, we tried reducing our lease term with them and they refused.
Then they call and say they have a potential renter, giving us an out which was welcome news. Well, the renter wanted to be in the house within 2 weeks. We couldn’t pack, find a new place, and move within such a short time, so we said it was an impossible timeline. Well K&M came back and said they sold the house and we have 30 days to be out. They illegally broke our lease and needless to say it was a very stressful situation, considering we also had 2 very young children.
On top of that, they screwed us out of our entire deposit of $ 1500! They charged us for normal wear and tear and gave overly-​inflated estimates on what would be taken from the deposit, and never allowed us a second opinion. Mind you, the contractors that gave the estimate worked for them! We complained to the BBB and K&M lied about whatever damages they claimed we made. Not only that, but they threatened to sue us for damages which caused the BBB to drop our complaint! I would never recommend this company to ANYONE.
