The Gyro Stop/Phoenix Grill

I ate here two times. Both times I enjoyed a pretty tasty falafel sandwich. Great pita bread! However… the owner is an acerbic, burn her bridges type. The last time I was in there I was with my kids, and I asked about a kids menu. She told me curtly that there was none. I asked if they could prepare a meal for a child, and she cut me off and said I could take my kids somewhere else. It was really reminiscent of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld but not in a funny way at all. I had been willing to overlook the tiny, crowded interior with the greasy cloud hanging over the cluster of tables they call a restaurant, but after being cast out for trying to find an appropriate meal for my two small children, I decided I couldn’t support a business that is so rude and dismissive to its unsuspecting customers. I’ve since heard from others who’ve had similar negative experiences. It’s a real bummer since we all love falafel something fierce…

I have always been pleased with taste, quantity, and value here. It’s not health food but if you want that go elsewhere. The gyro and fries are supreme. That’s the acid test for me when visiting a Greek food establishment. My advice is get the food to go as the space for dining is too confined for my liking. They also have a great cheeseburger.
