Hampton Inn Oneonta

We have stayed at this Hampton Inn twice now. We were pleased with our experience both times. Our room was exceptionally clean, there were ample towels, and it was very quiet. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Now that I’m home, I can’t seem to remember anything specific about our one-​night stay at this hotel. That is not meant as a negative comment — rather, it means that it offered the standard Hampton Inn perks, that it was clean, and that the customer service, the breakfast, and the facilities were just what I expect from this reliable hotel chain! I felt that it was overpriced, but it is a convenient location for visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown if the closer hotels are booked.

this hotel has charged me a $ 270 smoking fee for no reason! i do not smoke indoors. i have a medical condition and a prescription to smoke marijuana. again, i do not smoke indoors! ever! the hotel managers claim to have found minor amounts of marijuana leaf in the bathroom sink. again, i do not smoke indoors nothing was smoked any where near your property. i did not even smoke on your property outdoors. you guys are completely out of line charging me with a smoking fee of $ 270 for unsmoked marijuana leaf in a sink. how embarrassing this is for me for someone with a medical condition. i am respectful, beyond clean and even tip the maid staff. give me my money back!

I’d stay here again as long as they got rid of all the ants, but apparently that’s normal at the start of the spring season. Most rooms seem to have a fridge and microwave, which is always nice to have, but what is the point of having food to warm up or keep cold if there are ants in your room?
The free tea is what bumped up the number of stars in my review, and for coffee lovers, having it at your disposal anytime I’m sure is a perk. Free breakfast is what it is, hit or miss some mornings, and with fruit and yogurt available, you’ll find something you like. They even had fresh hardboiled eggs one morning, so it’s not a waste to check out what they’ve got available.
Aside from the ants, the rooms are very clean. The beds are comfortable, the pillows are fluffy, the bathroom is spotless, and the parking is convenient. This hotel is not all that far from main street in Cooperstown, it’s an easy drive that takes about 20 minutes. Although there are hotels a little closer, Oneonta isn’t a bad place to stay at all. My family and I ate mostly in Cooperstown, and only ordered from a local pizza joint, but the front desk was more than willing to help us a pick a restaurant if you need to find a place to go out nearby.

I’d give ZERO STARS, if possible.
The front desk GAVE AWAY (or just never reserved) my suite. I arrived and was put in a sub-​standard dirty room with no compensation for THEIRS error. Not sure how this could’ve happened: they took all of my information when I called. The message I got? It’s New Year’s Eve, be glad that you have a room. Lesson Learned: WRITE DOWN THAT CONFIRMATION NUMBER.

Excellent hotel with newer amenities. My stay started off on the right foot after getting checked in by one of the most polite and enthusiastic desk staffers I have met. There are few things better than a warm smile after a long day of work and travel.
Room was clean, sheets weren’t too stiff, and THE ROOM WAS CLEAN. Some hotels haven’t caught onto the cell phone thing so finding outlets by bed is a pain, but not here. There was an outlet box with spaces for your cords AND a USB port. Genius! Main Street is a short drive so there are a ton of great local food options nearby. They have a regular here!

Super clean, comfortable, friendly, well kept place to stay. Spacius rooms. Surprisingly good breakfast buffet compared to another chain hotel we stayed in. Visiting Cooperstown which was about a 30 minute ride but worth the drive.
We would definitely stay again. Gave 5 stars because it definitely was a gem compared to comparable hotels.

Great staff, clean and spacious rooms, huge and delicious breakfast every day! Coffee, tea or hot cocoa available whole day. Free WIFI in the room. This was such a great place to stay during our son’s week long baseball tournament. May be going back to All Star Village in 2 years when my younger son plays, definitely will stay here again and definitely recommending!

Alex at the front desk is the most pleasant, welcoming, friendliest, helpful person I’ve ever dealt with at a hotel!!! She gave us directions, restaurant suggestions & we even received a phone call after we go to our room to make sure everything was ok! Thank you!

This Hampton Inn is great, the staff on check-​in was awesome very friendly and Kerry went out of her way to make us feel like we’d just checked into the Ritz Carlton. The room was spacious and well kept, everything clean, coffee at all times in the lobby is a nice touch and they have a commissary (for lack of a better word) that has everything from snacks to band-​aids. The breakfast in the morning is pedestrian as far as hotels like this go, but it was fresh, well stocked and their were some healthy choices. This will be my go to place in that area! GREAT if your son is playing at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

My son and I traveled to Oneonta to check out a few colleges in the area. I felt safe booking a room at the Hampton Inn because they have a consistently good reputation. I was impressed with this hotel right away. The lobby was spacious, nicely decorated, and spotless. There was also a really nice coffee station set up for the guests with fresh baked cookies too!
The staff that greeted us were friendly and informative. Our room was beautiful and clean, and even had a refrigerator and microwave. The beds are very comfortable with attractive bedding. We enjoyed free wifi in our room, whereas many hotels only offer that in their lobby. Even their toiletries were good quality – Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion! And a little plaque on the vanity says that if you have forgotten to bring anything with you the front desk has complimentary necessities such as toothbrushes, etc.
There was a nice indoor pool and hot tub right next to their fitness center. The fitness center was the one thing that disappointed us a little. It was clean and stocked with a nice tv, fresh hand towels and a water cooler with paper cups. But for equipment there was only an elliptical machine and a treadmill, and several medicine balls for exercising – No free weights. After the long drive we looked forward to a good work out, and while it was fine for me, my son felt it was lacking.
Tomorrow morning we will try the free breakfast they offer, and I may want to add another review, but I feel confident we’ll be pleased with that too!

Nice Hampton although a bit far from the highway and with very limited dinning options nearby.
Rooms were large and nice with a friendly staff. They even did a good job keeping the parking lot and sidewalks clean during a snow storm.

The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful. When we checked in, they had coffee and tea in the lobby, as well as cookies and cider. They also provided a very nice breakfast. We were very happy during our stay.

After a week of Hampton Inns all over Upstate NY, this one was the best designed, cleanest, most comfortable and had the best version of «The Hampton Inn breakfast». Staff were great, too!

The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff is very accommodating this is a very nice place to stay.

My wife and I love staying at Hampton Inns whenever we travel.
And everything everyone’s said about this location in Oneonta is pretty spot-​on. We just happened to have a sub-​par stay this time around, though the accommodations were standard.
We checked in late (at 3:30 a.m.) and asked for a late check-​out, which the staff was happy to give us. However, the room we were given was at the end of a hallway… Which meant we were woken up after only a few hours’ sleep by people coming and going at 8 a.m.
In retrospect, we should’ve asked for a different room after we realized were were next to an exit. So we’re just chalking up this stay as a learning lesson for the next time we’re checking-​in late somewhere, so we don’t have to hear businessmen on their phone in the hallway at 8 a.m.
Everything else though was alright, even with the construction going on in the lobby. The staff was great to us. We still checked out late and although we missed breakfast, we got a couple of «Snack Packs» in to go bags… With bottled water, breakfast bars and fresh fruit, so that was nice.

Clean, Quiet and Comfortable.
Stayed here while visiting our kids at school. What a great Hotel. They have everything you could want for a short stay and the price is reasonable as well. Staff was polite and attentive. Our first choice next visit.

Best hotel in town. quiet and clean with a really good buffet breakfast

I did not expect such a nice hotel to exist in Oneonta. I’m pretty sure this Hamptons Inn is fairly new. The lobby is pretty nice and everything is pretty clean.
It is located in a college town though, so it is important to be aware that you must book your rooms MONTHS ahead of time for the super busy college-​related weekends.
