Fin & Feather

This place is lovely, especially if you are suspicious of big box pet stores. The owners are delightful and really seem to care about the animals and people. I’ve bought fish from here for years, and also bought parakeets.
Fish are iffy anywhere — one sick fish can infect an entire tank and it often doesn’t show until it’s too late. That being said, my current Betta has been healthy for 3 years, and I’ve had other fish far surpass their life expectancy. Some fish lived a week, but they are in the vast minority and the owners are willing to answer any questions, even «stupid» questions from first-​time pet owners.
I saw a great indication of how lovely this place is one day when I went in to find the owner sitting by the terrariums, snuggling a chinchilla. She said, «Someone bought his brother this morning, and he seemed lonely.» And then she left me pet it, too.
