Established in 1972.
About Us
In the 1950’s and early 1960’s, before Gary’s Auto Parts Inc., there was a junkyard called Dixon’s Auto Parts. In 1966 Bob Diefendorf bought the yard from Pete Dixon. Bob, whom Gary had been working for as a mechanic, car salesman, and all around «fix-it» person for the past three years went to work to turn the yard into a used auto parts business. Our total sales for the first week of business was $ 75.00. We knew we had our work cut out for us! We scrapped every car but one and started fresh.
The first four years Gary pulled all of the parts with the best equipment available which was a tank of oxygen and a tank of acetylene pulled on a two wheel cart with 15″ tires on it. Gary would take the torches out, pull the parts, carry the parts up, then get the torches and bring them up. From there Gary went into sales and the business steadily grew.
