Tully’s Kennels

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. No matter what the owners say their puppies come from puppy mills. If you buy a puppy from here you’re supporting the maltreatment of dogs. I bought a dog here that only lived a few years because he was riddled with health problems.

We bought Huey (our two year old English bulldog) from a breeder elsewhere a few years ago but have been thinking about adding another puppy to our family for a while.
We talked to our vet (Mobile Animal Clinic) and asked if Tully’s was a good place to get a pet. We’ve had experiences with puppy mill Bulldogs before and did not want to go through that again. He said that he was the vet for Tully’s and personally checks out each of the puppies before they are ready to be sold. We have been going to Mobile for 17 years with our pets so that pretty much sealed the deal.
We picked up one of their English bullies last week and we adore her and she is healthy and great. They offer 10 days of free vet care and will pay for any surgery your dog needs if there is a problem up to the price of the dog.
The only thing I will say is that the staff doesn’t have the best communication. We were told on Tuesday that she would be available on Wednesday. We then went in on Wednesday and were told she was not yet available. We were met with confusion when we mentioned that we were told that they were supposed to be ready to go. (Confusing sentence) and they didn’t seem very apologetic that we made the trip under false pretense but oh well. They finally called us Thursday evening and told us she was available and we brought her home.

This place is f****** terrible. I’m disgusted *spits* I should have turned and left as soon as a realized it was in a shady location. You go in through some strange store front to be told the puppies are in the BACK building… I would think a reputable business would want to showcase it’s beautiful, expensive, akc puppies, I figured it was a security procedure. now I know why. The whole thing smells like a combo of dirty rodent, wet dog, disease, filth, and pee. We passed an area where dogs where behind a locked and gated fence, under an awning stacked in kennels and barking and wimpering furiously, I hope it’s not where they «board» pets. The first thing I noticed when I got to the puppy «room» was that it was essentially an old hangar bay filled with small CAGES. Small wire cages where the bottoms allow draining of waste, the kind that hurt paws. The smaller dogs were hardly interested in anything. There were FIVE doberman/​great Dane mix puppies in a small cage– the same size which they used for 2 little min pins. The dogs where eating what looked like guinea pig pellets, had no bedding, no toys, and not as much room as they should have. There where at least 10 DIFFERENT breeds there. Half of the small dogs (the ones I came to look at and price point) were hands off only because of hypoglycemia. I asked an associate why so many were hands off she told me «a lot of little dogs have hypoglycemia and they just can’t afford to play as much.» BULLS***. IT IS NOT NORMAL for ANY dog to have hypoglycemia, and when you get a large proportion of dogs that have it, you are normally looking at breeding within the same family — usually mill pups. So I decided to look at the min pin pup, who was already 4 months. My husband asked if he was chipped and the guys says «no, we tattoo their inner thigh so we know they are ours». W. T. F. Dude. You know when you see that? In cattle. Or dog fights. Not reputable retailers. This place stinks to high heaven of a mill, neglect, and maybe even abuse (the tattoos). F*** this noise. When we left and my three year old asked why we weren’t bringing home a puppy, I got him in the car and closed the door. I turned and asked my PRESCHOOLER «did those puppies look happy?» He says no. «Do those puppies look healthy?» He says no. «Should those dogs be in cages like that?» He says no. «Do you think it’s ok for them there?» He says no. I told him we would go to the shelter where we got our cat. He knows it’s wrong even. The humane society doesn’t treat their animals like that and they practically give the animals away and rely heavily on donations. Sad. Hope you straighten out soon because you bet your money grubbing a** I’m calling ASPCA, Humane Society, Animal Control, and every animal league in the state to investigate you.

Three years later and things here haven’t changed one bit. Still enjoyed walking around and visiting with all the puppies. I saw staff hard at work cleaning cages and switching out the puppies to the «playpen» area where guests can go in and play with them. I was just window shopping but still had a lot of fun.
I did hear a lot of whinning and smelled some stink from the boarding area though. I hope those guys get to come out and play also.

I read the reviews posted in regards to this place and being an animal lover and wanting a new dog, I had to come see it myself. When you first come in you’re greeted not by a person but the smell of a combination of wet dog and old feces. It’s quite strong so brace yourself. The people behind the counter told me to come through and head out to the puppy area. It’s disorganized everywhere you look… so far… not a place I would board my Trix. Boarding facilities should never smell this bad…
So I’m off to the puppy area and it’s basically a warehouse with a bunch of cages filled with puppies… Smell wasn’t as bad, but the sight I saw was saddening. You expect puppies to be up and active even if they are in cages… but no, these puppies are all laying down… with sad looks on their faces. I called to a few and they wouldn’t even get up! I walked around to each puppy looking at them carefully. it’s so weird to see a puppy who doesn’t want to play! The cages mind you are wired and they hurt the bottoms of puppies feet, so no wonder they aren’t walking around. Second thing I noticed was that for a lot of the puppies they did not have adequate sleeping mats… there were two doberman pincers sharing a small plastic that was meant for a bed even though there were extra empty crates around.
I ended up playing with a min pin… so so cute! That was the highlight of the time there.
All in all it’s hard to leave the puppies there… in that condition. as much as I sang to get a puppy they won’t fix the way they treat their animals so it’s better to get from a pound or shelter until they doc their conditions for their animals.
Oh and I wouldn’t board my pets here at all.

Was all set to give this place a great review until the following happened…
We head to Tully’s over the weekend to browse puppies as we have been thinking of purchasing a puppy for a few months. We found the perfect pup and decided to come back on Monday when we could introduce her to the family. Everyone loved her but the place was about to close on Monday night and we still needed to act like responsible pet owners and set up shots, buy a crate and other supplies and puppy-​proof our home. We stay up until midnight on Monday knowing we will be picking up our puppy the next morning.
Tuesday morning we take off work to call and pay for the puppy. We even called before Tully’s opened to make sure we were first in… bingo! They charge our card for the $ 749 and the puppy is ours to pickup after work! We schedule everything with them and can barely work we are so excited. Fast forward 45minutes… we get a call from Tully’s in an apologetic tone…“We are sorry, the puppy you bought (and paid for) has been sold to someone in person.” What!!! The puppy room opens at 10:00am…my card was run the the money TAKEN from my account at 9:57am. Interesting to say the least.
I can understand them not wanting to upset someone in person who thinks they are purchasing a puppy that has been sold, but stick to your word.
If this is how you run your business, a business that deals with emotion, fairly substantial amounts of money, and apparently allows employees to break company procedure, then maybe you should rethink what you are doing. Needless to say, I have already told dozens of friends to avoid this place and will continue to do so. Bad deal.

It took me a long time to review Tullys, for I did want the heat to cool down. I am not going to talk about their fame of selling puppies from mills, can’t tell you about that and hope it is not true. I am going to tell you about my experience with their boarding facility.
I was new in Omaha, so I did not have anyone to ask and checked on line — boy, I can tell you, they have TONS of good reviews. I took time to check their kennel, it looked clean, with big cells, each one connected to an exterior individual one, so the dog could go out for relieving. It was a very busy place, about 40 cells, each with one, some times 2 dogs «boarded». I thought it meant good.
I left my dog for 5 days there. And called several times. They always took a long time to pass me over to someone who could say anything about him, and they never told me anything specific NEITHER CONCERNING.
I got my dog early one morning, he jumped over me, instead of licking me, as he does when I come to get him, he pushed me out. He did not even wanted to pee outside, just rushed to my car. WEIRD. They gave me his bed back, with some brown spots on it, I FIGURED it was mud from the outside cell, IT WAS NOT. That same day, the dog had a terrible bloody diarrhea, followed by 4 days of agony and trouble. I KNOW this kind of diarrhea is very comum in boarded dogs, for they feel sad. I hardly can blame them for that, but I can blame they did not even notice that on time to avoid a bigger problem. It seems to me they put him in his cell and never really gave him any attention. So, if you like your dog, do not take him there for boarding. Spend a little more, but leave him in a place where he will feel at home. I suggest COME, SIT, STAY, where i have taken mine.

I came in here a couple of years ago and was appalled at the number of dogs in here. What looked like hundreds of dogs were piled on top of one another on crate like walking areas that would hurt their paws. The large breed puppies had no room to maneuver. I almost bought a dog from here with the thought of «saving» him, but all I would have been doing is perpetuating the problem. Rescue is the way to go.

Love Tully’s. I’ve boarded my dogs there for years. I’ve also bought 2 dogs from them. When my dogs are boarded there they come home pooped out from getting to run and bark at all the other dogs staying there… I mean… that’s what dogs like to do right?? LOL I take my dogs food and they feed it to them w/​no problems… I bought a yorkie there years ago and she was healthy as a little horse and lived to be a ripe old 13yrs of age. I still have my schnauzer we bought there in 2000… she’s been healthy also.

Bought a sick dog from Tully’s. Very sad situation! Stick with breeders!!!

We boarded our dog at Tully’s for a single night. It is fair to say you get what you pay for. Our poor dog was SO terribly sick when we picked her up that I had to stay home from work the next day. She was vomiting, wouldn’t eat, and couldn’t keep water down. I talked to our vet and they said it is not uncommon and we should stay away from Tully’s at all costs in the future.

Stay away, very far away from Tully’s Kennel. Puppy mills like this need to be shut down but stay in business because unknowning families are drawn there for some reason.
My wife & I had been told by numerous vets not to consider Tully’s but we went there anyway just to check it out. Horrible conditions. Reputable breeders never have more than 2 – 3 breeds. Go find a reputable breeder for the puppy you want, probably won’t cost any more upfront and will save you lots of vet bills and agony in the end.
