This bar is AMAZING. It is well organized and The drinks are spectacular the staff is so friendly. As a transplant form Los Angeles I have found the service and Drink quality to be perfect. If you are passing through or a regular this is the place to be on any night don’t hesitate to stop in on any night and have a whiskey sour

TJ is wonderful! He is very welcoming and makes a really great cocktail. We asked TJ to make us something and he created two really great cocktails with minimal input from us. Thanks for making us feel so welcome in Omaha!

The drinks are good but the DJs are horrible. If you want a good time don’t come on Saturdays. The music will make you want to rip your ears off your head.

The Tavern was renovated since the last time I visited. They have a beautiful patio, kickass atmosphere annnd (the best part) a wide liquor selection! Our night started with a bottle of Veuve and included shots of my favorite tequila– Casamigos! Staff was friendly, crowd was enjoyable and we just had a great time. This will definitely be a go-​to spot

AWEFUL! I was excited to try this place after walking by it many times. I sat at the bar the entire night and order a mixed drink and some shots for my friends. At one point in the night the bartenders stopped the music and shouted, «listen up, we found beer cans that we do not serve in this bar, if your bringing in alcohol get the f*ck out.» The music went back on and my friends and I went about having a good time. Then we left, maybe 45 minutes later. The bartender followed my friend and I a BLOCK away, stopped us and told us to open our bags. We did, confused, and I realized she was accusing us of taking in the beer. I said, (in a friendly tone) «do you think we were the ones who brought the beer in. She said «yeah, and your not f*cking welcome back.» My friend and I were stunned that we were being accused of this after we spent the whole night sitting right in front of her at the bar drinking the drinks that this bartender had made us. She publicly humiliated us in front of many people walking around downtown. We were so appalled and outraged that the bartenders choose to handle that situation in such a rude and insulting way. I hope she caught the people that actually brought the beers in, and feels stupid for falsely accusing us!

The best bar in the market. … In omaha. Awesome drinks great service! Friendly atmosphere. I couldn’t ask for a better bar. Definitely my new hang out bar! The patio is perfect as well :). WHEN you go you won’t regret it.

Love this place, whenever friends are looking for a good place to go for a cheap stiff drink, good atmosphere, and lots of fun we head straight to the tavern.

I had a going away party at The Tavern. The owner was such a great guy he even bought a round of shots for my friends and was extremely accommodating. They even let us play Jurassic Park on the TV screens. Yes, I’m a huge nerd. Thank you all for the wonderful experience. The drinks are perfectly priced and delicious, the ambiance is nice, and the staff is great.

The Tavern was great. The warm special apple cider was the only thing that makes it worth getting out of the apartment in this frozen tundra. The remodel makes the place look great. Zack should get bartender of the year, for sure.

I’m from California and was in town for work. This bar was recommended by coworkers. I walked in and found a bottle of alcohol on a bench and promptly returned it to the bar and was accused of STEALING! are you kidding me? I said pull the video and call the cops, I have NOTHING to hide! These ppl who work are so conceded and live in a hole that they couldn’t even see how honest I was being. I would never want to contribute to a bar where bartenders have no soul and can’t realize how honest a person can be. Not to mention its grounds for a law suit… I have it all on video!

I always enjoy The Tavern if I am downtown in the late afternoon or early evening. It’s usually not super busy and a good chill place to drink. I can always get a well made drink here and the staff has always been talkative and friendly. It’s not my scene when it is packed late at night. They also have an excellent front patio for people watching in the Old Market. On a recent visit I noticed that they remolded a bit and the room had a better flow to it now. I think there is a new owner-​but it still had the vibe of the old Tavern to me. The one thing that throws me off is that t seems like there is always techno-​pop and club music playing in here. I get that at night and enjoy that music-it’s a little off putting at happy hour though. Not a huge deal. This and Havana Garage are my two favorite casual bars in the Old Market.

Sometime earlier this year, The Tavern was renovated. They did away with the divided bar area and now there is a gigantic open space. Personally, I like this layout a lot better. The dartboard now lies where the entrance to the men’s bathroom used to be and the men’s bathroom now lies closer to the women’s bathroom in a hallway to the left. The earlier problem of a bathroom door opening and wafting bathroom odor has now been solved! It also tends to be less crowded than some of the other bars frequented by the college kids like Billy Frogg’s, O’Connor’s, and the Dubliner. I don’t know about you but I like being able to get a drink without having to wait for 20 minutes. The Tavern has gone from feeling like a college town dive bar to something better. It’s worth checking out in my opinion.

My favourite bar in the old market just got a huge facelift! It changed ownership not that long ago and they totally revamped the place. It has a great new vibe and cool feel. And of course the drinks are still great and the bartenders are still friendly!
If you’ve wrote this place off before, go give it another shot! And if you’ve never been, try the Moscow mule!

I stopped here with a friend while at a conference. The bartender was excellent and entertained us with the local history. Will definitely be back!

This neighborhood bar should be getting 5 or 4 stars if it wasn’t just for a few minor bartending issues.
Pro’s– Their Moscow Mules are probably the best in town. The atmosphere and crowd in the bar are always fun and attractive. Bartenders are fun people who usually do a great job on the drinks.
Con’s — Lose a BIG star for their ethics when it comes to tips from the credit or debit cards. I would advise to bring and pay with cash. Every time I go here, whatever tip i give (usually 15 to 20%) always seems to be $ 2-​$ 3 higher when it goes through my bank. They must just think I’s drinking so I wont remember what I tipped.
Hope this immoral practice does not continue and I can keep enjoying the Tavern.

I must say this is never my first choice when going out. But I wont object if I must go. I try to stay away from crowded bars full of drunk frat boy types and stupid bachelorette parties. If I find myself downtown on a Friday or Saturday night not sure of where to go. 75% of the time I can avoid those two groups by visiting OMT.
It’s usually crowded, loud, feisty (aka bro-​ish, meat market) and though the bartender is super friendly and good at what he does, I’m not the type that is impressed by «Flare» bar-​tending. At least, not when it’s my drink I’m waiting on. Just make the drink already! I’ll still tip just as well if you skip the act so I can start working on my buzz.
With that said, I do enjoy their selection of beer and spirits. Their prices are great, and any place with a patio is fantastic.

OMT BABY– This place is alright– it actually warrants 3.5 stars (i round up) not quite four, anyway, yes it does always seem kinda dead or its busy and clears out completely and unexpectedly, but I can say this– they serve Boulevard Wheat on special… and the bartender is very nice, this place makes a good stand by bar, when you cant make a decision on where to go-​go here, when you dont feel like being in a crowded ass bar– go here, when you dont want to shuffle around like trapped cattle to get a beer –go here, you get the point …
