History

Established in 1997.

Sy Doan began tailoring at the age of 12 as a hobby; it developed into a passion. He started his career at a men’s clothing store and worked part-​time at home to support his family. Sy left that store in 1995 to pursue the chance to work at an upscale department store that was coming to Omaha. For two years, he worked in the Alterations department at Von Maur and was even promoted to head tailor…

Extremely cheap. I took my whole bedding in there was a gigantic tear in the cotton and the putter fabric and she charged me 5 $ and 2 $ for a piillow very great craftsmanship

Did a GREAT job on my wedding dress! I received my dress in the mail only two days before my wedding and this shop was able to get it altered for me just in time! Customer service was wonderful — they went above and beyond to ensure my dress was ready for my big day. I had used them a year ago for a jacket and a blouse and was also very happy with the service I received.

Sy tells you exactly what he thinks you should do with your tailoring, then does exactly what you ask of him even if you disagree with him. He’s exactly what the perfect tailor should be like. Easily the best group of tailors I’ve ever experienced in Omaha. Does amazing work with tapering.

Sy’s is kind of a no-​nonsense type of tailor shop. If you want someone to swoon over you, give you a lot of personal attention, and be your friend… this isn’t the place.
If you need to get some pants hemmed and want to spend only 10 minutes in the store dropping them off over your lunch break… look no further.
I don’t know how to describe it any better than that. Sy’s isn’t here to custom tailor and cut clothes to fit you in the most flattering way possible. They’re just going to make sure it doesn’t look stupid, fall off, etc. And most of the time, that’s all I need.
