Had the opportunity to try Scotty’s at a small food truck round-up in the Blackstone District over Labor Day weekend. I’d heard of them, but had never tracked them down before — I definitely will now. I got the sweet onion sliders and the parmesan garlic fries. The sliders can as an order of two and were quite flavorful, and the fries were a huge portion(for only $ 2) that could easily be split between a couple of people. They appear to have a small menu but if what they do make it always this good, it works. Will definitely be back.

Scotty’s food truck offers unique fare. The bacon wrapped hotdog is good, huge and very rich. If you are not starving I would recommend sharing one. Really likes the garlic Parmesan fries!

Sweet onion sliders have a mild flavor; not too oniony. They come 2 per order on pretzel buns. Parmesan fries were delicious. Also, the Bacon Dog had a non-traditional bun; more like fresh bread. This is the first time the family and I have tried their food; complements of the Blackstone Food Truck Sunday brunch! Thanks for being there, Scotty’s!

Ate some parm garlic frys($ 2) as part of the Blackstone food truck event, and I wasn’t too impressed to be honest. Could have used more salt, didn’t have much garlic flavor, and same size/texture as old school McDonald fries. We ended up using salt to get them down. Maybe if I had ordered something else I would have enjoyed it more. I’d consider going back to try new stuff though.

This afternoon I found Scotty’s Go-Go Grill at the North Downtown Food Truck Park. I was going to try their lobster roll that friends had been bragging about was convinced to try their Caramelized Sweet Onions Sliders on a soft Pretzel Bun(with fries), and their Pumpkin Æbleskivers, and they were as tasty as ever. Great Food Truck, nice owners. Someone there talked about their rib tips they have sometimes, and then the owner/chef told me about the upcoming Mac & Cheese with rib tips on top coming soon. I’ll be watching their Facebook Page for these.

The Barnyard burger was awesome! I cheeseburger topped with fried chicken and bacon? How can you not love it! Fries were really good as well and overall excellent prices. They came to my work but I would try to find them again wherever they go

Stopped by here for breakfast twice in the last few weeks. Didn’t know what to expect, but the menu was slightly different each time. A sign said it’s been a family-owned business for three generations, so I a guess that’s encouraging. First stop: Ordered a cheddar, bacon and egg panini for $ 5. Basically a pressed breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was hearty and delicious with an over-hard egg and thick slice of bacon. I was pleased it came with a side of fresh fruit. I could eat this every morning. Second stop: Ordered the French toast croissant for $ 5. Basically a croissant cut in half and fried up French toast style(exactly as it’s named, ha). Also came with a side of fresh fruit. Would of been excellent, except the syrup was corn syrup-based rather than 100% maple and it came with a blob of margarine instead of butter. I expect a little better from my gourmet food trucks. Scotty’s Go-Go Grill also features an array of Danish sweets, which I’m looking forward to trying. Next time you’re hungry and near 72nd and Blondo, don’t you dare drive up the street to McDonald’s or the gas station for food. Hit up Scotty’s instead.

To be honest the friendly people who own this and their Bacon Dog are what sent this from a 3 to a 4 star review. I ordered the Bacon Dog with fries and a Four Cheese Panini with fries. The Bacon Dog is fantastic. The panini was fine but for having four cheeses it lacked any real flavor. I think one of the cheeses needs to be replaced with something more exciting. The fries were the only real let down — they needed to be cooked longer and at least salted or seasoned when they come out of the fryer. That being said I would return just for the customer service and that awesome bacon dog!
