History

Established in 1994.

Peak Performance has helped to improve the lives and health of runners and walkers in the Omaha area for the past two decades. From its one store beginning, Peak Performance has provided the expertise necessary to assist runners/​walkers with their footwear, technical apparel, running accessory, and training needs. Today, Peak Performance has expanded to four total stores in the Omaha Area and 7 total stores nationwide. In addition, Peak has created some the areas more prominent running events such as the Blarney Stone 5K and Beer and Bagel Run. Once again, continuing to improve the lives and health of runners/​walkers by providing events that test their ability while having fun

I have been in the running specialty business for the better part of two decades. My educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Simpson College in Iowa and an MBA from Xavier University in Ohio. Being from a small town, I participated in all the major high school sports including track. However, in college I played football and baseball. I have participated in various running events over the years including the 2008 New York Marathon and 2010 Boston Marathon (where I finished both standing up. Ha! Ha!). I look forward to meeting and running with some of you at a local park or on one of the many wonderful trails in area.

I was excited to purchase shoes but in the end they are not working out. They refused to do anything with the shoes when I’ve only had them 2 months. I wear them 2 times a week for work and that’s it. I was told to call Brooks about it so I did. Thank goodness Brooks stands by their product and is sending me a new pair. Unfortunately I’ll never come back to the store.

Very knowledgeable staff. I’m on my 3rd pair of shoes from Peak. Everybody’s feet are different. The staff figures out which shoe is best. Did you know your running shoe should wear down in the center section of the sole? Before coming here, my shoes were wearing at the ball of my foot and I thought that was normal. This was causing knee and toe soreness. Thanks to the Brooks shoe line at Peak, I don’t have the issues anymore.
You know what else? The staff isn’t trying to sell you the most expensive shoe. Today, I was shown the latest Brooks running shoe that’s right for my feet, but I was told I could save $ 15 by purchasing last year’s shoe style that they still had in stock. I went for the latter and saved a few bucks. Thanks Peak Performance!
Also, bring your old running shoes with you. They will take them and donate the pair to those in need.

Excellent customer service. These guys really know their stuff. The staff will help you find the correct shoe for your foot, gait, etc. If you run any more than a few miles a week, I would highly recommend getting a few pairs of shoes from this establishment.
Not only did I get a few pairs of shoes I also got some tips for my next race. Wool socks anyone?

My husband is an avid runner and has been coming here since high school for new running shoes. As you walk inside, there is a lot of merchandise organized well inside of a track which can be used to test out shoes. There is also a treadmill for the exact same purpose.
The guy that helped out my husband in our last visit was super knowledgeable and able to help my husband find the best shoe to fit his unique running shoe needs without being pushy.
I imagine we will keep coming back in the future. As long as my husband keeps running, this will be our spot to find him some kicks!
You’re able to buy gift cards here as well and they have a lot of information about local marathons and races.

I’ve been going to Peak since I was in high school, over 10 years ago, for my running shoe needs. My latest visit was a couple weekends ago on a mission to find a new pair of running shoes.
Peak Performance is so awesome. They have a lot of different models from the hardcore running shoe companies such as Saucony, Brooks, Asics, New Balance and more. All of the staff is super knowledgeable about running and the shoes as well. I personally love the small track that goes around the store. It’s definitely tradition for me to take a lap when trying on new shoes. My only gripe is that their prices are full msrp. While on Amazon, you can get the same shoe for about $ 10-​$ 15 cheaper.
Peak is the best running shoe store around and I will continue to come here for many years to come.

Hey shoe guy, great job! A store that really cares about your feet! I think they put me in 10 pairs of shoes to narrow down my foot comfort. I ended up with two I had to decide from and I’ll probably go back soon for the other. I’m not that into shoes but these are comfortable. Thanks!

Stopped in here last weekend to look for a new pair of running shoes. I’ve heard that PP does a wonderful job fitting you for running shoes, so I’d always planned on getting my next pair here, and they did not disappoint. Although they only had one person working on the floor, another employee came out from the back so that my husband and I could both have 1:1 attention. They did a gait analysis to determine the best type of shoe for my feet, and their handy color coding on their wall of shoes helps you know which ones will be best for you to pick from given your foot type (i.e., whether you pronate, supinate, need more padding, etc). I ended up finding several pairs that I loved, but decided on a pair of Brooks that I definitely wouldn’t have come across or been drawn toward had I not been fitted and realized how great a match they were for my feet. Definitely a more expensive option than purchasing athletic shoes at Target or DSW, but if you’re at least a semi-​serious, it’s more than worth the price you’ll otherwise pay for all sorts of foot pain. Superior customer service, once again — I’ll be purchasing shoes exclusively from PP from now on.

As I said in my previous review, Peak Performance was the fist (and only) place I went over the weekend while I was looking for new running shoes. Seriously, can these people be ANY nicer? I said it before, I’ll say it again. Their customer service is outstanding. Every time I have come in to the store, they have always been more than helpful! Having never actually been fitted for running shoes, I was excited to go through the full process with them.
Before we got down to trying on shoes, Tyler (the sales associate I was working with) took a look at my feet and knees. He even watched me walk both away and towards him, so he could get a sense of how I walked. He then was able to match how I walk with a particular type of shoe. I never realized it, but their shoes are all labeled with different colors. As my «color» was green, Tyler told me I should pick from any of the shoes with a green label. I picked out several that I liked, and then we began trying on shoes. He had me try on different ones on each foot to compare how they felt. I jogged a lap around the indoor track to test them out. When I couldn’t pick between my final two pairs of shoes, he was patient while I kept trying them over and over again. In the end I’m very happy with the shoes I got from here, and will absolutely be buying shoes from here in the future! Outstanding experience, once again!

I love this local running store. From the sales staff to the races they put on, everything is top-​notch. Their knowledge is huge on running, racing, and apparel. They will meet your needs as a runner. From beginner runners to experienced runners, they will make you feel good about yourself. I highly recommend Peak to all runners.

I am definitely a beginner runner and admitted that as soon as I got into the store. However, I didn’t feel like they looked down on me at all or treated me like any less of a valued customer. The gentleman who helped me listened to what I was interested in, my level of performance, and the issues I had been having, and also checked my gait/​stride and measured my feet. He picked out about 8 pairs of shoes in varying price ranges that he thought would be the best for me. I appreciated that he didn’t just throw the most expensive pair at me and tell me I needed them. This also defintiely alleviated any concern I had that they would take advantage of my lack of knowlege or experience. I was able to choose an attractive and affordable pair of shoes. I ran in the shoes I chose last night and they work great and I can notice a difference from my old shoes.

Kind of like personal shopping for running shoes only. Of course they have other gear and plenty of knowledge to go along with it but the shoe selection and gait analysis is really why people [myself included] go here. I’m definitely a beginning level runner, but didn’t feel any less valued as a customer and had pretty much the best possible shopping experience.
Compared to the bricks I was running with before, the new shoes I was matched with (matchmaker, matchmaker…) are probably one of the best investments I’ve made in a while — but be prepared to make that commitment upwards from $ 100. Still totally worth it.

This was my second trip to Peak Performance. The first time was two years ago. The staff is so friendly. I’m just a 5k’er but they make me feel important and are just happy to help. They looked up the shoes I bought last time to build recommendations on. The kid that helped me was super nice and patient as I tried to figure out which shoe I liked the best. Of course I went with Pink Nike Pegasus :) They’re great, fit my feet just right. I will definitely be back and tell all my friends to go there when considering buying running shoes.

Peak performance is a great place to buy running everything! The sales people are well knowledgeable about everything they sell in the store and are able to help out a lot because they are runners too! Unless I start to learn more about running shoes, I will not go anywhere else. They always sell me the right stuff.

Great running store! The staff has always been EXTREMELY helpful there.
They will analyze your gait and help you choose the perfect pair of shoes. I always get blisters and breaking in shoes has always been a long, painful process. My first pair of shoes from Peak Peformance were the first pair of shoes I can remember that did not give me blisters! Now I do believe it when they say that you shouldn’t have to break in shoes.
They are extremely helpful and they offer several promotions including a 10% military discount, 15% discount if you are a member of the Omaha Running Club, and a free shoe program. I think it is something like you get your 6th pair free. They keep track of it in the computer so you don’t have to carry a punch card for that discount.
Great shoe buying experience, but I wish they had more inventory of clothing.

There must be an unwritten rule somewhere that to work at a local fitness store, you must have been one of those fat kids in high school that no one liked who turns their life around by running marathons and hating on people who run just for fun. I exercise purely for fun and am not the least bit competitive when it comes to anything athletic, mostly because I don’t harbor delusions about my athletic abilities.
Peak Performance has an excellent selection of running shoes, equipment, as well as a track where you can test out the shoes that you buy. They also employ «experts» who are local runners who act as if they don’t have time for anyone who hasn’t run in 20 marathons in the last year.
If you don’t mind condescension from the staff and paying a little bit more than you would otherwise, Peak Performance isn’t a bad place to pick up running gear.
