History
Established in 1956.
But if the story starts anywhere, it’s in 1953 with John and Maureen Mulhall boarding a boat in Ireland bound for Omaha, Nebraska.
Once in Omaha, John got his start working for the Omaha Parks Service. Two years later he took a job as the groundskeeper at Creighton University. And a year after that, in 1956, he and his wife Maureen established Mulhall’s Landscaping and Lawn Service. John grew plants in their garage and staffed Creighton students to help with services. Maureen kept the books.
In 1964 the Mulhall’s (and the company) moved to 69th and Blondo, where, despite a smaller house, they were able to operate the business out of the much larger garage. In 1972 the company moved to a 10 acre tract at 120th and Maple where they opened their first dedicated retail store.
Today the retail location remains at 120th and Maple, and the landscape and administrative offices are a block away at 120th and Fort. Plants are grown in fields and greenhouses in Omaha, Bellevue, and Gretna.
