Max I Walker Cleaners & Launderers

I have been a customer of this location at 120^th and Blondo for pushing 30 years now. Unfortunately, my wife just picked up the dry cleaning portion of our cleaning of a number of pairs of pants and a dress to find that each and every ticket with a maximum of 6 items per ticket has a $ 0.35 «service charge» for what the store manager (Lea) calls «governmental regulations» (apparently they have been doing this almost two years and I did not notice — shame on me). Don’t all businesses have to comply with «government regulations» and very few have a separate line item for this that appears to have no rhyme or reason to reconcile what it is exactly for (other than another mechanism to generate revenue albeit small)?
Further, when we dropped off the cleaning, one pair of pants was pinned where a button needed to be secured. Since they automatically secure buttons on laundered shirts, just in case the same did not apply to pants, I specifically asked if there was an additional charge for the same on a pair of pants and was told «no» each of the three times I asked. After we picked up the cleaning, I asked why that pair of pants had an increased charge — you guessed it, because of the button that they said I would not be charged for?
Wow — these additional add-​ons don’t really amount to much, however, for a customer of almost 30 years dropping off regular cleaning that will top $ 100+ once I pick up the laundered shirts from this visit, I would have expected a better response and even an adjustment to recognize the same when I pick up the shirts later in the week. Further, it is a said state of affairs when businesses start to add line items for «governmental regulations» (instead of including it in the cost of doing business like the rest of us) especially when it is hard to reconcile or explain what the charge applies to — starts to look like the government that they are blaming?

Really, all you need to know about this place is that it’s über-​overpriced. I’ve known this but continued to take a few things here out of convenience. No more, though. They failed to tell me last time that my dress shirt (a $ 30 shirt from H&M) would cost $ 10 to dry clean. WHAT! Never mentioned that until I balked when picking up that and a pair of slacks that cost $ 7. And then the lady offered no remorse or explanation of their policies and pricing, she just shrugged her shoulders.
Forget you, people.
If money is no object and you need something within 24 hours, you might consider this place. But not for me.
