By far my favorite place for Tex Mex and margaritas. The green hornet margarita is to die for! If you love spicy the Tex Mex chili will warm you up on a cold day. Everyone there is super friendly and the service is always great!

They know TexMex. And I’m happy they do.
Admit it. You’ve been to those chic-​chic joints that can’t even spell TexMex and the prices are ridiculous. Maybe you’ve forgotten about a restaurant that has solid Omaha roots and enjoyed an iconic status in town. Well, I’d suggest you gather at Julio’s for some honest-​to-​goodness fresh, delicious food as well as the BEST — and I don’t say that often — THE BEST margs.
My friend and I had Happy Hour small plates of the pico (full-​bodied and very flavorful), bean dip (terrific) and the queso (the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars) which I found a bit flat and could have used a little «oomph.» Oh, did I mention margs? We definitely ordered margs. Real margs. Not those fuffy-​things you order at other places — real margs. Short-​stubby Mexican glasses with rock salt on the brim and pure «deliciousness» chilled and waiting for you. Yes, we each had two just to make sure they were as awesome as we remembered. They were. Many more and we’d have had to call Über.
We had a relaxed dinner, never felt as though someone needed to «turn the table» and our waitperson, Jasmine, was spot on. They should clone her.
Street tacos for me and a Quesadilla for my buddy. The Quesadilla was huge, massive. Tasty. Street tacos hit the spot for me. Excellent meal and the shrimp were fresh. Yup. FRESH.
If it were a little warmer, we’d of taken advantage of the outside seating, which is bound to be busy once weather picks up. It is at the front, which is the east side, so it will be perfect for after work and will be out of the direct sun!
Embarrassed that I’d not been to visit for a long time — though I promise you that won’t be the case going forward. Their Happy Hour is aggressive and customer-​friendly. Hostesses were delightful, on their game and most sociable (they even stopped by the table to make sure we were having a good experience).
I’m giving Julio’s four stars — the queso is the only piece of the visit that I didn’t love, love, love. It needs some life, some taste. Some cheesy-​ness.
Julio’s might be a drive for you Downtown Folks, but it’s worth it.

Stopped for lunch and had a cheese enchilada. It was great and I love how they give you free chips and salsa. The atmosphere is comfortable and I was amazed how fast my food came out, which was good because I was in a rush. Plus, they give Proseeds so Julio’s donated 5% of my purchase back to my favorite local causes and it didn’t cost me anything extra. I’ll definitely be back.

I always get the Tamale Platter, rice and beans are amazing, you have to get the flour tortilla chips with the cheese and salsa. Not your average texmex restaurant.

Awesome new menu! New lite offerings and the smoked chicken quesadilla’s are AMAZING!!! The service is ALWAYS A+! Teresa!!!

Hands down, the best Tex Mex in Omaha. So many classics on the menu, the works nachos, chimi boat, enchilada float, Mexican flag. However, on a recent visit, I found my new favorite — the Cowboy Enchiladas, which are filled with smoked brisket and served with beans and rice. This was one of the best tex mex plates I have ever had in Omaha. I will be back again soon!

When we arrived to Julio’s we were quickly greeted by the hostess. We decided to sit in the bar area which had open seating (to watch some basketball of course). We first got the free chips and salsa. I was pleasantly surprised to get a mix of corn and flour tortilla chips. Mmm if you haven’t had flour chips they are amazing and fluffy! The salsa was heavy on the tomatoes… but more like tomato sauce vs chunks? It was still ok but not the best I’ve had.
I got what I usually get from Mexican type restaurants– fajitas. The portions, in comparison, were smaller than others, and the price was about the same if not slightly more. Again, not the best fajitas but decent. The guac tasted like it may have had too much cumin in it. It might taste good to some but it’s not my type of guac is all.
I believe Julio’s considers itself Tex –mex. I think my perception is a bit skewed. I love mexican so anything Americanized (not authentic) is not exactly my taste.
This would be a good place for large groups. Their menu offers a wide variety so I believe it would be good for that.

You don’t go to Julios for authentic Mexican food. That being said, their tex-​mex is good.
They do have some pseudo-​authentic Mexican food that is fine. I had the Street Tacos, which were light and flavorful.
My coworker had the nachos, which was enough food to feed a family of four.

This place seems to be run by a bunch of college students who couldn’t care less about their jobs. My ten-​year-​old son even asked me why none of the servers were in uniforms because they were all dressed in sloppy shorts or jeans and t-​shirts like they were on their way to class. A group of them were playing some kind of slap game in a storage room which I could see from my table. Only about a third of the tables were filled, but they told us our food took 30 minutes because the kitchen was crazy busy. The manager was wandering around saying nothing to anybody. There was a girl busing tables next to us, and when my daughter spilled her drink, the girl busing walked to the storage room and sat down on a chair for no apparent reason. Three more servers walked by me while I was trying to mop up the spill with the three napkins that were on our table. Even the manager walked by, looked, and kept on walking. I finally went to the hostess (who was apparently in the middle of a very amusing text) and asked for help. She didn’t get towels or a mop. She got an electric sweeper and tried to vacuum the spilled drink. She couldn’t, so she gave up and left. I had to ask another server for more napkins and I finished cleaning the table and the chairs myself. All this happened in the 30 minutes before our food arrived. And while we were eating the hostess and her friends started a dance party in the doorway. Nobody refilled our drinks. It was seriously the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time.

The interior of Julio’s West Omaha location is welcoming with a large bar area and Tex-​Mex décor. They have a small patio area, service is prompt and the wait staff is helpful.
I started with the peach margarita which was very refreshing. It came in a nice glass but was a bit smaller than I expected. Wasn’t super strong but the waitress only charged me $ 3 for it instead of the HH $ 4.
I ordered the queso dipsters which I really enjoyed. Finally a queso that doesn’t taste like Velveeta and doesn’t turn into a rubbery blob when cold. I love Julio’s homemade tortilla chips, but this visit half the plate had regular store-​bought type chips.
My soft taco was a nice size and had lots of filling. I was surprised they included guacamole inside but it was a good choice for me as I love guac. You may want to ask for it to be left off if you feel differently, they don’t ask if you want it beforehand.
Finally I had a small order of the Works nachos. This thing was not small, but literally a mound of gooey cheese and chips. It’s almost impossible to tear apart by hand as the cheese causes everything to stick together. It. Is. DELICIOUS. The chips are just the right thickness to support everything on the plate. For $ 8 you can even split this between a meal and snack for later. And they don’t skimp on the other ingredients in favor of lots of chips and cheese.

After looking at the menu online, my friend and I were intrigued and wanted to give this place a shot. We started with the chips and pico de gallo. The chips were a mix of corn and flour, and tasted store bought. The pico was solid. I ordered the Torta, which came with onion rings. I found the sandwich to be okay, but the rings were nothing special. My friend ordered a burrito, and found it to be bland. Our server was very nice, and the food came out very quickly. Overall the food was very forgettable. Julio’s is right on par with going to On the Border, Chi Chi’s etc. Inexpensive, inauthentic food that is more about quantity than quality.

Great local restaurant! Food delicious, drinks great, customer service awesome. I’ve never had a bad or grumpy server. I like the works nachos the best, but fajitas and enchiladas are fantastic too! Can’t really go wrong for TeX Mex here. Will come back soon

I enjoy a good stop at Julio’s. I usually get the 3 alarm combo and forget until I order the meal how spicy it is. The nacho’s are best anywhere! Good service as well. Overall, one of my favorite when I am in the mood for Tex-​Mex.

Was at Julio’s for the Ring the Bell Party! #Omahafilmfest Thanks for sponsoring the Omaha Film Festival again this year. It has been so much fun to see all the amazing independent films. Then to cap it off go to the Ring the Bell party and eat taco’s and drink fresh drinks was amazing!

My favorite Mexican place in town. I love it. I can’t believe it has this low of a rating.
Every time I go I get the beef chimichanga boat, which is a big beef chimichanga chillin in a boat of chili. It’s amazing. And smothered in guac it’s even better.
I can’t recommend Julio’s enough. It’s where I had my birthday fiesta this year!

I have never been more disappointed by a restaurant’s food and service in my life. I had very high hopes for Julio’s! I made reservations ahead of time because I had a large group of people coming for a birthday dinner. Despite calling ahead hours before, when we arrived NOTHING was ready for us. We had to wait as they got our table ready and we waited for at least twenty minutes for water or menus. It was as if no one in the entire restaurant knew what they were doing.
After FORTY-​FIVE MINUTES, they finally came to take our order (we still had no water, chips or salsa despite asking for it multiple times) and it took the two waiters nearly 15 minutes just to get one side of the party of 10 done. By the time we got our water, we had been waiting for well over an hour for our food.
I will never eat at this location again or their other one. We received no apologies or explanation despite asking multiple times what was going on with the service. Despicable.

In my search for great Mexican food in Omaha, I took a chance on Julio’s…and while it was good, it was far from great… I was quickly seated and the waitress was supremely quick… almost too quick, since I ordered the carnitas plate and not even 10 mins later it was served to me… I’m not normally one to complain about super quick service, but it made me wonder how freshly cooked it was… the food though was hot and tasted good… I enjoyed the two different types of chips they bring, but the salsa wasn’t anything impressive… and the price for what I ordered felt a little excessive… Since Julio’s is way far from me, I won’t be making a special effort to come back, but I would eat here again at some point since they had burgers that looked really good

We went here for lunch on a Friday and were promptly seated by the smiling, friendly manager. Drink orders were immediately taken and brought out, then our lunch orders taken. So service was great!
Looking over the menu I did think the prices were a tad high to comparable restaurants. I ordered it the ginormous burrito and the fella I was with ordered the nachos. Portions were great and everything tasted fresh. My only complaint is although very tasty, my burrito was inconsistent. The middle was just all rice, with the ends having all the goodies.
I will go back for sure, it’s just not a place I will crave. I’ll get the nachos.

I went to Julio’s for lunch today and I wasn’t that big of a fan.
To start off, the service was absolutely great. Our server was cheerful, friendly and very knowledgeable; but I don’t remember her name. the restaurant itself was kind of dark, which didn’t bother me.
I couldn’t have any, but they had a huge list of Tequilas. It was pretty impressive.
The food was just okay. I got the Mahi Mahi tacos and the cilantro rice it comes with and the actual insides of the tacos were good, not great, but the soft corn taco shells were not good. I am not a Tex-​Mex connoisseur but they didn’t taste good or smell that great. And maybe that’s how they are supposed to be, but either way, I didn’t like them.
The service was fantastic, but the food was just okay. Even the salsa I thought tasted like jar’d stuff you pick up at the store. The only reason I would go back is to try their Tequilas as their list was rather impressive.

My husband, best friend and I met for a late dinner last week. We ate in the bar booth and the service was friendly and prompt. The appetizer was very good, chips and dip. The entrée I had, the mozzarella steak burrito was okay, the warm lettuce was not very appetizing but the steak had good grilled flavor. The bar was not busy but three patrons decided to sing a U2 song and there was an impromptu dance class. One patron decided he would walk around in his socks… not sanitary or appropriate. We decided to leave at this point. Not sure if we would return.

Julio’s is now located on the south side of W Center Rd where La Fonda’s used to be in Westwood Plaza near 123^rd & W Center Rd.
We ordered the chips and queso for our appetizer. They have the option of corn chips, flour chips, or a mix. Their flour chips are rather unique. My wife loves them, but I’m rather ambivalent. Queso was pretty bland. Salsa was okay. The hotter habanero salsa wasn’t much hotter.
I ordered the Enchilada Float. There was a decent amount of chicken inside of it, but I would barely qualify it as a «float» as there wasn’t nearly enough queso and «tex mex» sauce (i.e. their version of ranchero). Overall taste was just okay. Beans were okay. I didn’t try the rice.
Portions were small. Other restaurants at similar price points offer much larger entrees.
Service was okay. Our waiter was good, but the lady manager was definitely in a crabby mood and the hostess came walking out of the kitchen chewing a mouthful of food.
I guess I’d rather just eat elsewhere when I am craving this kind of food.

I work in this area and have been eating at Julio’s every couple of months. It was a favorite eatery of mine when I was younger, but it kind of fell off my radar. I have really been enjoying this location. The servers are pretty good and the food comes out at a reasonable rate. I have found that I still enjoy the Ménage à trois Burger like I did 15 years ago. The three cheeses on top of a decent slab of burger works and is slightly indulgent. Not a huge fan of the coated fries-​and I also forget to substitute here, but it is a minor thing. Over all I am glad I re-​discovered Julio’s it’s a nice locally owned lunch option in a sea of chains out here.

Sat at the bar and shared some of «the works» nachos with my best friend. They were pretty middle ground, but it’s nachos and I’m pretty sure all nachos are good. The service was friendly and the restaurant looked clean. I doubt I’ll come back again, but it isn’t because I had a bad experience. I just don’t eat that type of food often, and will probably end up trying somewhere else when I do.

I can’t imagine going back here. The food was tasteless. As in lacking flavor. Worse than that, we had to send the same meal back. Not once but twice. Once, the bun on the cheese burger was moldy. The second time, the burger was uncookedin the middle. The waitress was very nice about it, but not once did a manager talk to us. I had to ask for the meal to be comped. This created a less than pleasing dining experience.

Two for dinner in the bar. I like eating in the bar, the tables are fewer and are not as close as in the dining room.
Our server was on the spot with greeting us, refills and insuring we were taken care off, good job!
Food was hot, fresh and tasty (cooked to order!) Jonny had a MR hamburger and it was cooked perfectly. I had chicken fajitas, which came to my table HOT and SIZZLING with a LARGE cold plate of cheese, pico and sour cream.
Several restaurants could take lessons from Julio’s on how to make and serve Fajitas!

Ate there last week for the first time because we had a coupon. It was like eating those wax meals that they use in restaurant display windows… looked really good, but no taste at all. The rice had a weird texture, like it came from one of those microwave bags. Made a comment to the server and she just nodded and said, yeah, it’s not Spanish rice. I said it wasn’t even rice as far as I could tell. Bland, unappealing food.

Had the cheese and onion omelet. It was huge, but not quite as tasty as they used to be at the old location. Staff were very competent.

Our server was AWESOME! But the food was lackluster and left much to be desired. Its funny that Savanna F said they hostess was reading during her visit, because the hostess tonight was reading «Fast Food Nation» Bwahaa!
