I had a fine enough time when I went here with a friend. We sat on the patio and although it began to get dark, it wasn’t too dark where we couldn’t finish our meal. It’s a bit pricey, but a nice place for an every-once-in-a-while meet up with a friend. Our server was very kind, but service felt verrrryyyy slowwwww. I am not sure if it was because we were on the patio(we weren’t the only ones), but of course it felt slower when we needed small things like a new fork or water. I can see myself going back here, but I will probably just sit inside. See my picture for a delicious chicken with angel hair pasta and goat cheese — MMMM!!!

My boyfriend and I came in for lunch on a slow afternoon. It took 40 minutes to get ONE burger we were going to split and it was over cooked and the side order was incorrect. I could have overlooked the slow service if we weren’t repeatedly told that our food would be out in «two more minutes» or «one more minute» but we were left waiting thirty more minutes. This was my first and definitely my last time wasting my money at this establishment.

Truth be told, we’ve never actually been here. But every time I go to old market my retinas are singed by the god awful blue lights that this place has in their trees. Please take them down?

I was surprised when I looked on here after I finished my meal because the experience I had was nothing like the negative ones posted. I have some specific dietary restrictions and the staff was super accommodating. The service was prompt, the food was delicious and the atmosphere on the patio was the perfect way to enjoy dinner on a beautiful evening. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

I went here with seven ladies. We all ordered something different and it was delicious. I had the open face sandwich and highly recommend ordering that. Those who ordered the blue chips said they were yummy. This is a good atmosphere for lunch. The large windows bring in a lot of light and the place was not busy on a weekday for lunch. We ordered a bottle of wine and the food was good.

I met up with friends at J’s on Jackson on a Thursday night for dinner. I was a bit wary about all the negative service reviews but based on the menu and the positive reviews; we gave it a try. I’d made a reservation via OpenTable and we were seated promptly. The restaurant was not busy and service was good. Our waiter was good throughout except for a short bit when he was caught up with a large party(minus one star for the 20 minute wait in between) and disappeared after promising to get us coffee. I ordered a Moscow Mule — very good, balanced, and made with Tito’s vodka, Gosling’s Ginger Beer, lime juice and a dash of orange bitters — it was a nice touch and I liked it. I ordered the charcuterie plate and it was very good as well as my Bourbon Sage Pork Chop. The coffee was freshly made and also very good in spite of the wait between cups which was filled with good conversation. My dining partners’ dishes looked equally good and they had the Green & Scarlet Salad, J’s French Onion soup, filet and the Chicken Oscar. Definitely a great night and if the service was up to par, it could have been 5 star.

Went there for lunch so not crazy busy at the time. Our waiter was awesome and he appeared to be the only one working. All four of us ordered burgers. Two were burnt beyond recognition — like what you would find if you cleaned the grill at the end of the week. Mine had to be sent back and then when I did get it, was undercooked. All in all, won’t be going back. Hoping the waiter finds a classier place as he was way better than the food here.

I’ll start off by saying that Adam our server was very polite and attentive to our table, however we had a party of 4 in which we all had burgers. Mine came out looking like charcoal and zero flavor. The second burger was not supposed to have cheese but you could tell that they realized right before it was sent out and they simply just scraped the cheese off and sent it on its way. The third burger was fine until she got to the middle of it and it was completely raw! We will never eat at this restaurant again

I heard this place was GREAT so made a special trip to try it out. 6:15pm on a Saturday and it was pretty dead. Really nice day out and within a few months of the gas blast at M’s Pub so not sure the effect of those two things. The hostess was pleasant and sat us right away. Our waitess was smiley but the different things she said to us were just rude and slow. She was very pretty so I assume she thinks she can say whatever she wants to people but… her tip certainly reflected our displeasure with her and we are unlikely to return anytime soon. I wasn’t happy with how my drink came out because things had been added to it I didn’t want. She told me that’s how it comes. So, I didn’t drink it. The food: I had the J’s Pasta. While it took a long time to come out and was served to me cold on top and warm on the bottom it was tasty otherwise. I don’t like my pasta cold so wasn’t please about that but the flavors were quite good. I didn’t love them meat in it as it was overcooked. My dinner date got a 16oz ribeye with au gratin potatoes. The ribeye was delicious. The potatoes really weren’t good. They weren’t cooked through so they were quite hard and while they are displayed in a pretty way they really aren’t au gratin potatoes. We wouldn’t get those again. The atmosphere is nice. Bottom Line: The steak and pasta were good. The rest… ehhh.

went to js for prom and they made us wait to sit at our RESERVED table and then we waited atleast 10 minutes to even see our waiter, then told us an hour wait for food and our waiter didn’t bring the right drinks. we ended up having to leave without eating because we were late for our prom. this situation was ridiculous and we plain out received terrible service. I do not plan on ever going back and I recommend you do the same!

Never come here. I am currently sitting in this place 2.5 hours after I sat down. The food just came. We have a large party, but the reservation was made last week. We’ve had 2 rounds of drinks, only bc we hounded the wait staff down for our second rounds. My salad(the only food I ordered) came without the dressing it was supposed to be tossed in. Even when the dressing came the $ 11 salad consisted of 4 cups of mixed greens, about an ounce of goat cheese, and a small piece of toast with fig jam. Many of our table’s entrees had obviously been sitting in the window for a very long time while we waited. I feel bad for the wait staff here. It’s not their fault. This is an example of poor management. They have two waiters on staff on a Saturday night for which they had at least two reservations. I assume the same type of understaffing caused the delay in the kitchen. Update: the check just came and they charged $ 12 for a salad that was $ 11 on the menu. If this review does not divert you from coming here, be sure to check your bill against the menu.

I have eaten here 3 times… and it has confirmed to me 3 times why this place is always empty. Tonight I wanted an easy, light dinner and decided to stop by. I ordered a beet & spinach salad with an add-on piece of chicken. I’m a foodie so this is NOT my norm but I was just on a weeks vacation so I need to fit pants other than my «fat» pants. You wouldn’t think there would be much wrong with a simple salad… but J’s on Jackson excelled in this area. The beets were thin and limp(weird right??!). The spinach was droooooowned in salad dressing. It literally needed a life preserver. I actually had to ask for a side of spinach to add to my salad dressing! Yep. It’s true. Even the sweet waitress looked embarrassed. Even the drowned salad WITH the added spinach STILL looked drowned in dressing. And the special piece of $ 6 add-on chicken? The herb flavoring was tasty good but not enough to mask its dryness. In its defense its hard to cook a piece of chicken that’s 3/8″ thick without being dry. There will not be a 4th try, folks. Believe me the first 3 tries were just as disappointing. I was just being optimistic because its so close to where I live and I really, really wanted it to work out between us. Good bye, J’s on Jackson. It’s not me… its definitely you.

2 stars because the meat quality was good and the manager tried hard. «Classy» is not quite what I would call the ambience. I was disappointed in the flooring and overall feel of the place. I took my daughter there for her 21st birthday and the manager offered free cocktails or free dessert. We went with the dessert. We both ordered a steak, cooked Medium. Her filet came out medium well and my ribeye came out well done. When the second ribeye came out, the plate was dropped in front of me and the waiter said«I’ll be right back». Why not wait 30 seconds to see the steak was RARE? I waited about 3 or 4 minutes. The manager came out, apologized and followed up immediately after it was delivered a third time. He was kind enough to comp my steak and apologize. After that, I didn’t see our waiter until we were finished. I was a bit disappointed in the service of the waitstaff. The dessert was really good, chocolate torte cake… so we had a winner there. Because of the disparity in price and ambience, I wouldn’t go back. If i were to pay $ 150 for a dinner for two, it ought to be significantly better than that. Did I mention the peeling painted floor and the orange stained sink in the men’s room? I feel bad about the review because the manager was super nice… but the overall impression was very disappointing. I’d recommend another place.

Had an extraordinary lunch here. The place was dead. So the bartender and waiter took the time to interact with me and talk about a variety of subjects. Then the food. Had a corned beef Reuben that was outstanding!!! Thick slabs of hearty corned beef on rye. It was juicy! The steak fries are a must! They are crispy enough with light seasoning. Mmm that $h:t was good! Looks like quite the spot for wine and dining in the evening, too. I’d strongly recommend this place, if you’re not familiar to the area or looking for something different. Definitely for lunch though! They got Lagunitas IPA on draught, too! Cheers!

Much better service this time, which was my main complaint on the last visit. Also– 100% dog friendly patio, and your dog can come into the patio with you, not just sit tied outside like some of the other old market restaurants. J’s has their own dog bowls for water(cute ones too) and gave my little guy a large milkbone. I was very impressed.

I wanted a steakhouse in Omaha and wound up here. The ribeye was pretty good, less fatty than most ribeyes because they cut more of it off. Came with potatoes and veggies willy-nilly, the veggies that day being various cuts of squash. Food basically OK, service likewise, but the fairly low rating comes from the fact that the $ 33 steak on the menu was $ 34 on the bill. Not OK. But I have no cause to complain: I just took a dollar off the tip to compensate.

For the price of the entrees I was very disappointed in the quality. For our main courses one ordered a ribeye that was chewy and tough(never should happen for a ribeye prepared medium rare), and two ordered the seafood pappardelli that had overcooked pasta, not enough cream sauce, was extremely lacking in seafood and did not have basil pesto as it was supposed to. Two of us ordered mojitos that were vastly different in the way they were made. One had far too much rum to make it palatable, the other was too heavy handed on the mixer making it far too sweet. For appetizers the bbq chicken flatbread was nothing special, however the arancini appetizer was excellent. I would not recommend this establishment unless you just want to stop in for appetizers.

I was really under-impressed. The service was sub par at best. I spent a good amount of time looking for our waiter to reorder a drink and I never had my water glass refilled… it sat empty for half the meal. I have never had such poor and unfriendly service at this style of restaurant. Now onto the food. I really enjoyed the risotto balls and my wife loved the blue chips. I was not a fan of the meat and cheese flight. seemed like the meat was more deli style with a tiny bit of charcuterie that was very good. I ordered the tenderloin gnocchi and wife ordered the lobster risotto the tenderloin gnocchi was pieces of overcooked steak and some scrapings with grissle on them over long chewy overcooked gnocchi topped with a heavy brown gravy. Nothing in this dish was cooked right or tasted well. Now after telling our waiter this and asking to order a different item I was told that I would have to be charged for this. I immediately got offended and fired right back as to what all was wrong with the meal and no way way is this right. The waiter with tude then said ok then I can exchange it. i got the crab cakes as a quick backup. they came out very very fast and I really enjoyed them. they were flavorful crispy. I should have ordered a steak to begin with I feel but gnocchi is one of my favorite. and I can say the gnocchi here is one of the worst I have had across the country. I left feeling unappreciated as a customer and did not enjoy the attitude and poor service. I will not be back or recommend again. It got the extra star 2 stars because my wifes risotto was very very very good. That was done wonderfully

Updated review and I am going to have to drop them to 3 stars. They try but it is lacking the oomph I need for 4 stars. Service was Ok. They were busy and service reflected. Waitress missed a soup order and food came out piecemeal. Also, they ran out of rye whiskey. Never understood how a bar runs out of booze. Must be a shortage somewhere so stock up! Food was solid but not great. Appetizer(Thai Flatbread) was smothered in the sweet chili sauce… about the only thing you could taste. I think a balance would make the dish really tasty. Price was not bad… not complaints. I will be back but this is not a «must go». Great location and the patio is fun.

So this may come as quite a shock, but J’s just lost 3 whole stars from me. You may find yourself asking why?, but you should really be asking How? We have been going to J’s for Wine Down Wednesday to enjoy libations and good bites for a long time. Pretty much every week and even on some off days. Ooh, I mentioned off days. That is what last night was. We wanted to go somewhere that could appease multiple palates in our party. Patron 1: Meat and potato, nothing fancy; Capt Morgan Patron 2: anything more expensive than it is worth, Busch light Patron 3: something they can’t make at home; Capt Morgan, Pepsi Patron 4: Vegan; Wine Patron 5(me): Vegetarian; IPA When we got to J’s, we immediately got a table which was nice. Our server was quick to assist and maybe a little to eager to take our drink order. No longer do they have a rotating Sierra Nevada tap, nor did the waiter know much about wines. We got our bread basket quickly and noticed a few fruit flies cruising around looking for some grub. Not really an issue then. We got our food relatively quickly, but a few things were missing. P2’s side salad was not delivered although the oil and vinegar was. Her pasta also seemed to be missing the mussels, but she got the shells. P4’s Martini salad had the stilton stuffed olives omitted per request, but they felt the need to douse the rest with bleu crumbles. Why would you do that? The ambiance was missing as was the service I was used to. My food was just ok, but really, how do you screw up mushrooms? The real kicker was the check. Nearly $ 200. They even charged for the salad that was not delivered. $ 3 for some sour cream and chives for your potato. At $ 40 for that plate, that should be free. Way overpriced and not worth it. Upstream has better food, beer, and they serve wine(not as good in that department). Nothing at J’s was outstanding. For the price point we should have experienced way better service. I get that there is new staff, but these guys and gals need to get it together. I will still go for WDW, but other than that, good luck. I’m gone
