Hiro 88

We recently found out that Hiro 88 has a reverse Happy hour and is open till midnight on the weekends! Specialty Rolls for $ 6 is amazing! We love the Las Vegas and the Hiro Crunch. Definitely will be back for late night eats in the future.

Really good sushi, awesome happy hour (All sunday).
I ordered like 7 different things and didn’t lose an arm and a leg. The waitress /​bartender gave me, a good feeling that she can actually help me and gave honest recommendations.

First time coming to Hiro 88 and was very excited to try the sushi. The atmosphere was very calming and dimly lit which makes it a great place for a romantic dinner. My friends and I ordered 7 rolls which included a Rainbow, Las Vegas, Crazy horse, spicy 2 in 1. The portion size was great! Everyone in my party was satisfied and full. They even said it was better than Blue. Would definitely recommend coming during happy hour. I will be back soon.

I had a mango mojito, pork ribs and some spicy sushis, everything was great! I’m glad I went there. I liked the atmosphere, it’s a trendy place, and their happy hour selection is pretty good. I recommend!

This is a good place.
While I haven’t found a roll that I particularly love, I’m always impressed with the over all quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the service. The busker roll and asparagus roll are good, but a little overly crunchy.
They have excellent lunch specials and it’s a great place to go for a work lunch with a big group. The bento boxes are a good deal and if you get sushi it comes with a salad or soup. I think the hot and sour and miso soups are great!

We love the food and sushi here. The food is fresh and the service awesome! Shawn is the best ! We are consistent patrons and usually eat here monthly at minimum.
My biggest complaint is that they changed the spicy hiro 88 sauce. It was our favorite and now taste like ketchup and picante sauce mixed, so disappointing. We only hope they will see the light and bring back the original recipe.

Wow, really great sushi and sashimi ((for Midwest). Very happy w/​selection and freshness. Menu’s different Asian cuisines but all day Sunday happy hour menu is mostly sushi, and $ 2 sake bombs!
White tuna, my favorite and hard to find, has now taken a close second next to the fatty tuna, more fishy and buttery. Happy that Hiro 88 serves both.
Carolyn was so cool and made great suggestions and even recommendations that intrigued us to come back and try, like we weren’t going to be back ASAP anyways.

I came here for my birthday. The tuna I had was delicious and delicately sliced. The interior of the restaurant was very classy and professional with a small hint of trendy.

The sushi was mediocre at best. Our waiter completely ignored us and forgot to place an entire entrée. I will never come back to this establishment. If your in the mood for pathetic service and mediocre food, you’ve found your winner.

Fantastic sushi, scallops & service!!!

I visited Omaha to conduct training for a company and was craving sushi. Ended up at Hiro 88. The service was excellent. Food was fresh and the place was clean. Decided a few nights later to visit their other location on 129^th. Same consistent experience. I also enjoyed the décor and ambience of both locations.

Fresh, consistent and a great place to have a sushi roll or four. Hiro does great job at catering to dietary needs and providing a fun experience!

I love the atmosphere at Hiro much more than many of the other sushi places I frequent in Omaha & the size of the restaurant often means there is little to no wait during their busy times of day.
That being said, I’m a vegetarian & it is very hard for me to find enough to eat in terms of sushi rolls that leaves me full & satisfied. They have plenty of appetizers & hot plates that will do the trick, but often I’m only there on Happy Hour Sunday when they have reduced prices on many of their rolls. There are 2 sushi rolls for me to choose from & I’m not a big fan of either of them (cucumber avocado roll & veggie roll).

I have been here quite a few times since my last update. It is only fair that I give them the stars they have earned in the time that is passed. I now get attentive service and good recommendations when it comes to beer.
Paring down the beer list is never an easy task and I admit, I may have been harsh on them.
The product is great. The options exist for me and I understand that a revised menu is to come that is more concise.
As far as location? You really cannot beat this spot. Enough outside the Old Market, but still in reach.
The restaurant biz is tough and the 88’s have a quality thing going. If you are staying at a nearby hotel like Hyatt, do yourself a favor and walk down. If you area at another hotel or in the area, take a shuttle and get some.

You would think that if your friends love to frequent a place so often that it would actually be good. I think I’ve been here quite a few times now and every time realizing this place is not good. I don’t know whether or not it’s being stuck in a land locked state that they are unable to produce delicious sushi but to create sushi and charge a hefty price on it that truly bugs me. This place is overrated. The only good thing to me about this place may be the sake bombs. And even that– they don’t do it the traditional way. I may be a little too harsh now, but it’s my opinion. Let me say good things about this place though. Its décor is actually pretty nice and I appreciate that they even have a happy hour. I would have given this place a better review if they didn’t charge so much (even during happy hour) for such sub par sushi.

We went here on a Saturday night – we made reservations for 7pm, but I think we could have walked right in and been seated quickly. The atmosphere is nice – low lighting and quiet.
We were greeted promptly by our server and we ordered a round of «Make It Rain» drinks – so delicious and refreshing! I am a sucker for anything with Cucumber Vodka and this was no exception. I highly suggest – though you may need to limit yourself to one as they go down as if no alcohol was in it! We then ordered the Spicy Garlic Edamame and the Gyoza for appetizers. The edamame was different than I have had before as it actually had a thick sauce on it instead of seasoning or soy sauce… the sauce was very spicy and definitely garlicky – I enjoyed it, but always made sure my water wasn’t empty before taking a bite. The Gyoza were pan fried and perfectly crispy on the bottom while soft on the sides. Overall good flavor – but no different than the frozen ones I buy at Trader Joes.
For our sushi, we ordered Halibut, Salmon & Tuna nigiri and the Husker, Cinco de Mayo & Spicy 2-​In-​1 rolls. From the nigiri I had a piece of the Halibut and Tuna. Both were delicious, though I had wished the rice was slightly warmed. For the rolls, The Cinco de Mayo had a nice flavor with the cilantro kicker and the Spicy 2-​In-​1 roll was very good – I’m also a sucker for tempura crisp. I didn’t try the Husker Roll – but I am guessing it was the least favorite as it was the only roll with a piece left when we finished.
All-​in-​all, I really enjoyed our trip to Hiro. The only thing is I do find the prices a bit steep. I have ordered just as much for about half the price at Sushi Japan (a must try if you haven’t yet!).

Eh. Ordered crab rangoons as an appetizer, they were pretty good. Everything else was mediocre. I’ve had better sushi before. Between my girlfriend and I we tried four different rolls and they were just ok. Nothing special. We did get some spicy mayo on the side and all I can say is. SPICY. So Spicy.
The rolls we had were the following:
— Las Vegas
— Rainbow
— Golden Gate
— Spicy Tuna
Iced tea was not brewed correctly, tasted very bland.
Our waitress very attentive and provided great service.

Lunch with my bosses: yikes!
The sushi was not anything to write home about, and seemingly lacked flavor. The grilled chicken teriyaki looked like it was the frozen, pre-​grilled chicken. I would almost be inclined to put my bottom dollars to say that it is. The crab rangoon were good, maybe a little heavy on the garlic.
The lady that was refilling water seems grouchy and had a pissed off look the whole time we were there.
Ehh, not going there on my own time.

Modern vibe, consistent food. While we eat in at the Maple location, we do get take out here quite often, and dine in occasionally. It has a modern, yet warm interior and is a nice place to have a cocktail and a meal. While it isn’t my favorite place in Omaha to eat, the food is always good, and more importantly always consistent. Consistency will keep me coming back. I normally order off the ‘Chinese’ menu, and my go to favorite is the ‘Yins Chicken’, a touch of sweet and heat. My wife finds Hiro’s to be her favorite Sushi in town hands down. Overall, a solid choice downtown to have a meal.

I cannot believe that it took me so long to find Hiro 88! I stopped in for lunch with a friend on a Saturday and was amazed. The place has a nice upscale feel; the décor is the kind of contemporary feel that I really dig. The large stature of the Buddha is a nice touch.
I ordered the Mongolian beef which was a delight. The food was quite tasty but not hot enough for me so I asked for some Sriracha sauce. A small but satisfying salad with ginger dressing was also included. The menu seemed quite expansive.
I have since gone again for the Mongolian beef. I see myself eating at Hiro 88 at least 3 – 4 times a month.
