Incorporated in 2000 ~ «The Course in Miracles Society (CIMS) is the publisher of the 1972 edition of A Course in Miracles as finalized by the scribe Helen Schucman and co-​scribe William Thetford. This edition was discovered in 1999 and published in 2006 after the copyright on the popular and more well known edition had been deemed null and void.

History

Established in 2000.

~ In 1965, Helen experienced what she described as a Voice which spoke clearly in her mind, saying «This is a course in miracles. Please take notes.» With Thetford’s support and assistance in transcribing her shorthand notes, Schucman took down some 1,500 typewritten pages of A Course in Miracles over a period of seven years.

Schucman did not claim to be the author of the material herself.

As she often explained, she heard a kind of inner dictation and she felt compelled to write it down, even though at times she disagreed with the content and resisted the process. The voice which spoke through Helen clearly identifies himself as Jesus. A Course in Miracles-​Original Edition, published by CIMS, is the unabridged volume of the Course as it was completed by Schucman and Thetford in 1972, before substantial editing by others.

Business Owner

Thomas Whitmore, founding member of Course in Miracles Society, joined with other members around the world, who were equally dedicated in the publication of the manuscript, to establish CIMS. Whitmore devotes his energy non-​gratis, as all of the CIMS members do, towards the dissemination of this material. In addition to offering copies to anyone not able to afford them, CIMS also sends free copies of the ACIM-​original edition, into prisons. Whitmore oversees the creation of the manuscript in eBook format, searchable edition and is working on future editions. Whitmore is also owner of Thomas E Whitmore Law Offices, also located here in Omaha, NE.
