History

Established in 1988.

American Tattoo had it’s humble beginnings in south Omaha with a small two station shop. As one of Omaha’s only tattoo shops during the 80’s, American Tattoo forged a reputation worldwide for high quality bold and bright tattoos. With a solid reputation in tattooing many area tattoo artists got there start here or can trace their roots back to American Tattoo. Today, we still bring that same quality of tattooing with over 50 years of tried and true methods to our clients. We continue to evolve and travel the world to bring you the best tattoo possible and find the best artists to create tattoos for you.

Meet the Business Owner

Eric Z.

Business Owner

Eric Zuerlein is the Owner/​Artist of American Tattoo. Eric graduated from University of Nebraska Omaha with a BFAH and studied at Technische Universitat Braunschweig, Germany. In 1998, Eric apprenticed under the legendary artist Ira Handlon, the original owner of American Tattoo and in 2008 handed over ownership to Eric.

As a member of the Ink-​Fusion Empire Eric travels the world tattooing at comic and horror conventions holding licenses with Marvel, Disney and LucasArts Ltd.
