History
Established in 1979.
University Tutoring was founded in Seattle in 1979 by a school teacher with a vision for quality and meaningful one-to-one tutoring relationships.
Our current owner joined the staff as a tutor in 1996 and took ownership in 2000 with the goal of ensuring that the quality services University Tutoring has provided for so many years will continue to grow and to serve the needs of the community. When our owner moved to Olympia in 2009 to start a small farm, she opened a second location of University Tutoring in Olympia.
We are proud of our great reputation in the schools and community. We obtain the majority of our new students through referrals from school counselors and University Tutoring students and parents who become fans and referral sources. We appreciate that the good word about our services continues to spread through the community and schools.
Meet the Business Owner
Diane C.
Business Owner
Diane brings over 15 years of experience with one-to-one tutoring and teaching at UW, Seattle University, and University Prep. She grew up in Everett, graduated from Cascade High School, and earned her BS from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma with honors in Chemistry and a minor in Math. She then completed post-grad studies at the University of Otago through a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship in New Zealand before returning to the Northwest to complete her MS in Chemistry at UW where she also studied the History of Science with an emphasis in teaching math and science to non-science majors. In 2009 she moved to Olympia to start Township 18 Farm and Learning Center. When Diane is not running University Tutoring or farming (which is almost never), she may be found sporting some serious Seattle Sounders fandom, snowboarding, practicing or teaching yoga, or supporting her favorite public radio stations, KEXP and KAOS.
