History

Established in 1991.

Sound Native Plants was established with the mission to implement environmental restoration using a comprehensive approach to ensure project success. To advance our goal, SNP provides consulting, installation services, and native plant horticulture. SNP endeavors to share our experience with customers and other professionals by offering public workshops, professional continuing education, publications, and training on environmental restoration and mitigation. SNP operates installations & maintenance crews based in Olympia, WA, and Portland, OR.

Business Owner

Ben Alexander planned and supervised environmental restoration projects in Olympic and Yosemite National Parks for four years, and served five years as environmental planner for Thurston County Storm and Surface Water Program. In 1991, Ben co-​founded Sound Native Plants, an ecological restoration company based in Olympia, which involves everything from designing ecological restoration projects, to overseeing a native plant nursery, to managing field crews based in Olympia and Portland/​Vancouver. As time permits, Ben also teaches about ecological restoration at workshops and events for both public and professional audiences.
