History

Established in 1986.

We have been producing hand blown glass products successfully since 1973 (formerly as Designs in Glass, Inc. of Boca Raton, FL). Our goal has always been to produce a quality product. was not until 1980, however, that we began selling our merchandise wholesale to gift stores. In 1985 we started wholesaling our own Crystal Oil Candle line. Then in 1986, when we moved our location to the Catskill Mountains, we changed our name to Catskill Mountain Crystal.

Because they are handmade by individual glassblowers, each candle is unique — you will find that no two candles are exactly alike. Over the years we have seen many copies of our Crystal Oil Candles. They almost always sell for less than ours and the quality is usually very poor. You will always find Catskill Mountain Crystal Oil Candles to have thicker and better quality glass than others on the market today. Our Candelabras are all signed and dated.

Business Owner

Rodney S. Sage has over thirty three years experiences in the glass blowing industry. He began making swans, wedding cake tops, and other decorative pieces sold at fairs and trade shows.

He founded «Designs In Glass» (Boca Raton, FL) in 1973. In 1980, he designed this line of crystal oil candles, and in 1986 officially shifted his focus to exclusively producing these oil candles, changing the name of the business to Catskill Mountain Crystal. Since then, he has been producing beautiful, handmade quality candles from exceptional quality materials. Currently, Rodney Sage is the sole proprietor of this business; you can be sure that any candle you receive has been hand-​blown by Rodney himself, and the more elaborate pieces, such as Candelabras, are signed and dated as well.

Rodney’s objective has always been to create a good quality product that you will love! If you ever receive a product you are not satisfied with for any reason, he will replace or refund it immediately.
