I have been dining with Galvin since he ran Evan’s on Goodman Road in Horn Lake, MS. He offers an unpretentious southern steakhouse with a wonderful buffet, soup, and salad bar. Galvin Hand Cuts his steaks and grills them to perfection. Ribeye is Brisk’s specialty, in my opinion, but their fillet and New York Strip are both fantastic as well. Regardless of the steak you choose from Galvin, you will be able to cut it with a plastic knife and fork. I choose Galvin’s steaks over those from Butcher Shop, Ruth’s Chris, and Folk’s Folly — even with the extra drive from Memphis. I love his salad bar, because everything has a fresh sheen to it that you simply don’t get other places. He also makes all of his salad dressings from scratch. You’ll find restaurants that have paid more for interior decorating, but I doubt you’ll find one with better food. If you do, you’ll most likely be paying much more per plate!
